Stye's Character Description Basics
Race: Kelvic Gender: Male Age: 9 years Birthday: 26th of Spring, 506 A.V.
Animal Form:
Stye is a Great Horned Owl, two feet long, with a four-foot wing span. He has excellent eyesight, excellent hearing, and noiseless flight, making him a highly effective hunter. He is by nature nocturnal, and has very good night vision.
His razor-sharp beak can deliver significant damage, but his greatest weapon is his talons, which can exert enough crushing force to break small bones or rip a person's scalp off the top of his head. While his powerful wings cannot lift a man off the ground, they can beat a man to the ground, or drag him along the ground. His ear-splitting shriek gives hardened warriors pause.
Human Form:
The first thing people usually notice about Stye in his human form is that he is short, heavy-set, and muscular. The next thing they notice is his eyes; they are disturbingly large, with undifferentiated black iris and pupil, surrounded by pale yellow in the place of "the whites of his eyes". He is bald with heavy black eyebrows overhanging and accentuating his eyes.
His nose is hooked and off-kilter, as though it had been broken a few times. He has a square chin, a perpetual stubble, and a faint scar along his lower left chin. His hands are large, with unusually long fingers. When he strokes his chin with them, which he does when he's thinking or distracted, they take on a claw-like appearance.
He typically wears dark wool pants, a brown leather belt, a dark-colored cotton shirt, a leather vest, a long black wool cloak that he can wrap around himself, and brown leather boots. He might be wearing a broad rimmed hat, if the weather calls for it.
Stye's human form retains some of the sharp eyesight and good hearing of his animal form.
Quirks:
- A tendency to stare at people, unblinking and wide-eyed. Some people find this disconcerting
- A tendency to stare straight ahead, and swivel his head to change the direction in which he is looking. This can be especially disconcerting as he swivels his head to visually follow someone as they walk by. He has been known to turn his head so far as to almost be looking behind himself.
- Sometimes strokes his chin with his unusually long fingers, giving them a claw-like appearance (in human form only).
- Sometimes rolls his shoulders several times in a row, shaking his head at the same time.
