Hey, I take offense at that! My hygiene is just fine!

Of all the things Ravokian's and Chaon aren't, its dirty or smelly. Ravok is pristine, magically so. Can't imagine why.

I'd like to think Rhysol is a bit subtler than that.

Also Ball, you can't teach him, since as you said your only a novice. Only a skilled mage can initiate a non-mage into their first magic.

And I think Clyde too is a bit subtler with the things he does than you give him credit for. You act like he goes around kicking puppies and drinking baby blood.

If you only expect Evil from him, thats all you'll see and get.

Garland isn't exactly clean, he's an unoffical info leak to a certain spy(I think she's a spy at least) so learning magic from a potentially evil mage is just fine for him.
