Asen had noticed the sudden shift in Lorden when she punched him in the arm. It was subtle, and she wasn't sure exactly what set off her danger alarms, but the way he held himself changed. That she was absolutely sure of. She had glimpsed something terrible, something dangerous.
I... I think I saw it. Gods, that was scary. An' only for a tick... Was she certain that he'd changed? It must've been the forced smile. His mouth was grinning, but his eyes failed to reflect the same emotion.
The half-Dhani gave her patron a skeptical look, feeling fear settle in the pit of her stomach. She pushed it away, telling herself that it was just Lorden, it was nothing. He wasn't going to hurt her... Was he?
She mentally shrugged off the encroaching thoughts. The blonde nodded at the knight's distracted attempt at sarcasm, adding a half-hearted chuckle for good measure. Yeah, there's somethin' different... Probably a good idea not to 'it 'im anymore.
Asen began memorizing Lorden's schedule. Five days of work, five days of freedom. For her, at least. The knight had to work constantly. She raised an eyebrow at his offer -- was it an offer? -- to come out on patrol with him, one side of her mouth curving upwards. She definitely wouldn't mind that.
"Any questions? Well, I s'pose I might have a few. Some o' those, 'owever, can wait. It en't exactly the most, ahem, private place 'ere," she murmured suggestively, brushing her fingers against Lorden's hand.
"But aside from that, I got nothin'. Oh, except for one: When do we start?"
