54th of Spring 515 AV

It was a fresh and beautiful morning when Revy awoke from her sleep. It wasn't uncommon for her to be dreaming about her family, but as of late she didn't seem to be experiencing them as nightmares anymore. No, her dreams were about the good times they had. Perhaps she had finally been able to accept their murder and could close off that chapter of her life.

Though she felt refreshed, the woman felt as if she had to do something to remind her of them. Maybe a new piece of clothing? Perhaps a new weapon, which she would have then inscribed. Then again, she could also get a new tattoo. Though she wasn't sure if there was a shop like that here in Syliras. She hadn't seen one at least. And while she could ask her roommates, they seemed to be out right now.

She had to decide what to wear that day. At first she thought of donning the dress she had received from Zandelia, but she didn't have any shoes that could go with them. So she let that thing packed. Instead she grabbed her black skirt and red shirt. Her low leather boots could very much go with these. She liked her current set, but still the squire had wanted to put on her dress. She would have to go out and buy a couple pair of shoes that could go with them apparently.

After leaving the squire dormitories, she stood there outside for no longer then a few ticks as she pondered what to do first. Either she could go directly to the elegant weave to look for some shoes, or she could stroll through the city for a few bells to see what else there was to do. Both could prove to be fun, yet boring at the same time.

A day to remember (Garland)

Mornings... Garland hates mornings, he always felt drained for some reason, the mornings were always tough on him, for some reason, his patron would wake him up early for no apparent reason than to just annoy him. She would personally go to his room, kick open his door and drag him out.

Though plenty of time has passed since his joining of the order. He had gotten used to his Patron's constant wake-up calls, his body had started waking up earlier and earlier, until he had eventually woke up early enough to get out of bed before Catherine could drop in.

Garland yawned tiredly and went over to his closet, swinging open the doors and picking up a random undershirt and then his leather jacket. "Mental checklist." He said and picked up his sword that was propped up against his bed. "Sword, check."

He looked over his pile of dirty clothes and then yawned again. "Laundry? I'll do that tomorrow... Or maybe the day after..." It has been a week since he put that on his check list.

"Money..." He went over to a desk and grabbed a small pouch of gold and promptly put it in his jacket pocket. "Check... I think that's it." As he was about to leave he stopped and looked at the room, mostly his side of the room. "Right, almost forgot... again..."

He went over to his bed and took the wrinkly pair of blue trousers and undergarments and quickly threw them on. With that done, he pushed pass the door and went off.

Usually he would go off to train or patrol, basically what every other squire does, but today, he was feeling like training or patrols were boring, or were not very interesting. He has done patrols or training for the better part of the spring. Today, he's gonna go out, find a friend and just talk. Simply talking to someone can make even the most mundane activities a bit more exciting.

As Garland made his way outside, he felt like as if he needed a few more friends in the squirehood. Most of the friends were either Pycons or Aventis, or Alex, and most of them are either busy or out on some mission overseas.

He was still quite upset that Aventis was leaving, but he can't dwell on that now, its too early for that. As he made his way outside he couldn't help but notice a vaguely familiar face... and a very accenting to her... womanly figure, but he was an engaged man, he was loyal through and through. Though the last time he saw Revy was when she was fully clad in armor and and had blood on her.

It had been quite a while since the attack last Fall, but he still remembers the people that fought beside him, even if this one was a bit cold towards him. He went up to her and called out. "Revy! Hey, it's been a while. I hope you remember me."

The woman had to think about what to do first, as the time in a day was limited. If she was gonna stroll throughout the stronghold first, she might not have the time to leisurely pick out a couple shoes. On the other hand, she didn't know how long it'd take her to pick out said shoes, so she didn't know if she had the time to walk through the stronghold then.

Just when she decided to first go for shoes, she got called out to. Looking over at the source of the sound, she saw a familiar face, but she couldn't quite get the name that went along with it. "I remember your face, but your name not so much, I'm afraid.", she said. She had already noticed earlier that she was easier on the opposite sex. She wasn't immediately offended when they talked to her. Did the knights mellow her?

After glancing over his clothes, she didn't have that good of an opinion of him. Couldn't he have gotten a pair of pants that actually looked clean? "Couldn't ya have at least put on some proper looking pants? You look like a slob this way.", she said. But at the same time, maybe she wouldn't have to be alone today. "Wanna stroll around the city together? Kinda dont wanna do it alone. Plus I could get your opinion on some stuff I want to get.", she then suggested.

"I remember your face, but your name not so much, I'm afraid."

Garland gave a small shrug and smiled. "Don't worry about it, we never formally introduced each other, mostly because both of us were soaked in blood and fighting against a horde of bandits and mercenaries." He said and extended his hand in a form of greeting. "My name is Garland, a pleasure to formally meet you."

He had not looked the most presentable, but he actually had a good reason why he had no time to wash his clothes. The patrols and the training and the assignments were starting to pour in. Ever since winter finished, things have started picking up again, people returned to work, people started leaving their homes, people get into trouble and need the knight's help.

"Couldn't ya have at least put on some proper looking pants? You look like a slob this way."

He gave a small embarrassed smile. "Yeah, sorry. I didn't have time to do laundry." He said with a slightly red face. He remembered that there were people in the squire dorms that do the chores for the squires so they could train and patrol more, but Garland had lived in the orphanage and there was a similar system there, he had lost a few clothes there and wouldn't want a repeat of that ever again.

"Wanna stroll around the city together? Kinda dont wanna do it alone. Plus I could get your opinion on some stuff I want to get."

"I would love to, even though I don't look it, I'm pretty good at guessing what looks good and what doesn't." He gave a slight smile, though he remembered that he might need a few things himself, though he can't remember what exactly.

He let Revy lead the way. "Right, Revy. Where are we going?"

He didn't have time to do the laundry. What a pathetic excuse. If one didn't have time for it, one should make time for it. Hai, even she made time for it if it was needed. Otherwise she let the servants in the dorms do it. "What? Then get some more clothing, or make free time for it. Sheesh... Lucky for you, I'm going to the Elegant Weave first, seeing how I need a couple pair of shoes. Maybe I'll buy some clothing, but I'm not sure about that yet.", she said.

As she was leading the way, she couldn't help but be a little bit curious about her fellow brother in arms. He had impressed her during that event, although only a little, but he still impressed her. "So, what have you been up to since.... that attack?", she asked him, trying to make a light conversation. Despite her not being a big fan of men, she felt like she wouldn't truly hate this guy. Then again, there had been other men she didn't outright hate and had learned to respect.

When she arrived at the Elegant Weave, the woman didn't even hesitate for a second and entered. She didn't particularly look if the guy followed her, she just expected it. When she entered, one of the employees recognized her right away and approached her asking: "Hello miss Hiroe, here to shop for some clothing again?"

She was not looking for new clothing particularly, but more for shoes. Perhaps they were selling a few pair, or at least they knew a decent cobbler. "Not exactly right now. I'm more looking for a couple pair of shoes. Do you guys sell any? And if you guys dont, do you know a cobbler who you could recommend?" She asked if they knew one, as she didn't know any cobblers.

The shop clerk did have to think a little, but she didn't know of any particular cobblers. "Well, we don't sell shoes or the like here, but you could try out the bazaar. Most likely there will be a cobbler or two there. Can I interest you in a dress that arrived a few days earlier? It's a bit pricey, but I know that it'll look great on you.", she replied, "If you give me a tick, I'll go grab it for you."

Though the woman wasn't really looking to buy a dress, she was interested. A dress or two extra could never hurt. After all, one might never know when they needed one. And when the clerk returned with the dress in her hands, she became even more interested. "Can I try it on? It looks really nice.", she said the moment the clerk held the dress up for her to see.

The clerk stood next to the dressing room, as she was talking to the woman, keeping an eye on her companion. "The dress should fit perfectly. This particular one was tailored to your sizes. Your continued patronage is something we enjoy." And when the squire came out of the dressing room, clad in that ballgown, the clerk just said: "See, I knew it would fit you. Despite your rugged life, you still have the curves in the right places, to be able to don dresses like these. Shall I bag it for you?"

Revy didn't like the fact that her shoulders were that bare, but the dress did look really good on her. This was a keeper, even if it'd be expensive. "Yeah, bag it for me, I'm definitely buying it.", she replied. "What do you think, Garland? Does it fit me?"

It was a horrible excuse, but he was just lazy, and he felt like he had other things to do, better things to do. "Alright, I see your point, I really should buy some more clothes, wearing the same junk over and over again is kinda boring.

He decided to walk with Revy to find and just spend some time with her, it should be fun, or at the very least give him something to do for a few bells. He was interested in what Revy did after the battle, he hadn't seen her much, even in the dorms, was she sick? She didn't look like she was sick or had any signs of being sick.

"So, what have you been up to since.... that attack?"

Garland was rather surprised when she asked this. He had known Revy's reputation, she was known for being hard to get close to and for her prowess on the battlefield;

"Ummm... Not much... Went killing Yukmen, several times, met a girl, fell in love, that stuff... Ummm... Spared a lot and got my ass handed to me by another girl that claimed to be a 'pacifist' doubt that though, she fought like a Myriam, well, it felt like it. I got sorely beaten, she broke my arm, bloodied my nose, blackened my eye, the works." He smiled and rubbed his arms, vaguely remembering the pain and broken bones.

"What about you? What have you been doing?" He asked and followed beside her. She looked very pretty, almost like she's not even a squire, but on closer inspections you would see her toned muscles and occasional scar.

They neared the Elegant Weave and Revy entered without as much as a glance to him. "Never really went in here much." He muttered to himself and walked in behind Revy.

As soon as he walked in, someone literally screamed. "Oh my word! Your clothes are absolutely dreadful! Come, I have the perfect ensemble for you!" With that, Garland was dragged off to a dressing chamber.

After a little while, Garland walked out wearing a fresh pair of clothings, blue jeans and a white undershirt, and a brown jacket. It looked... strange, rather expensive too... He would check the price later, he did look rather... okay-ish with his new clothes that were thrusts upon him.

"You look absolutely dashing!" The person that gave him the clothes said with a happy tone.

"Uhh... Thanks?" Garland replied, he really didn't know how to react to this sudden strange event. It seemed that Revy had found something quite... beautiful actually.

Weren't they looking for shoes? Did they not sell shoes here? He did not here that part of Revy's conversation earlier, because he was busy being undressed and redressed by some strange lady with curly purple hair.

"What do you think, Garland? Does it fit me?"

"Huh? Oh! It's absolutely stunning. It fits quite well if you don't mind me saying, and the tailoring is top notch." He said and coughed a bit, what is with him and suddenly speaking like he knows what he's talking about. "Well, how do I look? Is it too gaudy? I don't even know what that word means, but I think it's bad?" He said and looked himself over.

Revy hadn't payed attention to Garland at all. She was more or less busy with her new dress. So when Garland commented on it, she didn't bat an eye. He sounded quite stupid as he commented on it. Besides the comment that it fit her, she wasn't impressed. "You've got no clue what you are talking about, do you Gar?", she said.

Even though she wasn't impressed by his words, she was with the selection of clothing he had. It fit quite nicely and was a thousand times better then what he wore. "Give him another set of clothing. That one I'll fund. He needs some proper clothes at least.", she told the salesperson. And to Garland she said: "Looks nice on you. I'll pay for another set so you can at least look... well, respectable."

After she got out of the dress, and gave it to the saleswoman helping her, she decided to ask for the price. Once she heard that, she almost felt her eyes pop out, but that dress was so worth it. "Despite the price, I still want it. It just looks too good.", she said, "Garland, you done? So I can pay for one of the sets at least?"

It's true, he had no idea what he was talking about but the craftsmanship of the dress was absolutely divine. He was never much of an artist or anything like that, but he knows well-made things when he sees one.

"Give him another set of clothing. That one I'll fund. He needs some proper clothes at least. Looks nice on you. I'll pay for another set so you can at least look... well, respectable."

"R-Really? You're willing to buy me some clothes? Hmm... Thanks Revy! I like this, I'll go see if I can find anything else that suits me. Hmmm... Now that I think about it, I don't really have anything formal to wear." Garland said and went around the shop to see what he could find, something formal would be nice.

It wasn't exactly needed but there was always a chance he could get invited to some sort of event that needed a formal attire. He had picked up a white long sleeved shirt and a brown vest, and a fresh pair of black pants. It wasn't the most formal of things, but it looked quite nice.

He went into the changing room and took off his clothes and quickly put on the shirt and vest, and the pants. He stepped out and looked over to Revy, it seemed that she was a bit shocked at the price of the dress. "Revy? How do I look?" He asked and spread out his arms so she could see all of him.

The guy actually picked out a good looking set. "Looks good. Take it to the woman who's busy with my dress. She knows I'm paying for that set. The other you still have to pay for yourself.", she said. That set couldn't be more expensive then her own dress, so she was probably good. She had the money to pay for it, but depending on how stuff would pan out for her, she might need to spend a good amount on traveling rations and stuff.

Once Garland was done with his stuff, she had paid, and they made their way out of the store, did she tell him what she was gonna do. "We're gonna go to the market right now. They didn't sell any shoes there, but they said that there might be one in the market. Haven 't been there yet, so now I actually get the chance to stroll around it, see what they have." She hoped that there was a good selection of shoes. She wasn't too familiar with them, but surely the booth owner would be able to help her if needed.

She actually didn't know much about Garland. Despite them both being squires, she rarely actually saw him. Though she wasn't the first one to ask about it. His previous answer was rather short as well. He was probably just embarrassed about something. Oh well, it didn't matter. It was his choice if he didn't want to be open. It was just like how it was her choice before to not be open about her history. Nowadays it would be a lot easier for her to talk about it.

Once they arrived at the entrance to the market, Revy immediately asked what kind of shops there were. Of course she heard about a shop with shoes, but once she heard there was a tattoo shop, her eyes just seemed to light up. That was something that would definitely be a great way to remind herself of having conquered her past. "Gar, I'll be getting a tattoo for sure, after having gone to that shoe-stall. If you want to stick around for it, be my guest and if not your choice.", she told him.

"Alright, I'll put away the clothes and give them to the lady." He said and quickly ran back into the dressing room and changed his clothes back. Compared to everything else here, the clothes he was wearing looked absolutely dreadful, even though his leather jacket was bought here.

He gave the clothes to the lady that was busy wrapping up the dress Revy got. He went over to Revy and gave a friendly smile. "Thanks for the paying for one of the outfits. I'll be able to pay for the other set." He said and grabbed the bags and walked out beside her.

He was just about to ask where they were going next, but Revy had already spoken before he could even ask. "We're gonna go to the market right now. They didn't sell any shoes there, but they said that there might be one in the market. Haven 't been there yet, so now I actually get the chance to stroll around it, see what they have."

"You haven't been to the market? Really? Well, it will most likely be very claustrophobic. Lots of people there, but I'm sure you'll be able to find what you're looking for there. If you're lucky, you can find a few neat things, magecrafted items, fancy jewelry for low prices, maybe even a katana if you're lucky, but mostly it's just food and what regular people need that usually flourish here." He said as they reached the entrance to the bazaar. "Well... There's also this tattoo parlor I heard about, I think it's new, so I don't know much about it."

He had thought about Revy from time to time, she had the skills to become a knight already, she was a master at fighting, a genius perhaps, but there was still something off about her... Garland didn't believe in prodigies, skills were earned not born with. So he wondered where she learned to fight, and if he could maybe get a few pointers from her or even spar with her.

He was interested in her background, sure, but history never really bothered him, she could have been an ex-slaver trying to mend her ways, and he wouldn't be bothered, as long as she's not hurting anyone and trying to fix her mistakes.

The bazaar was packed with people, stalls and such were everywhere, shop keepers and buyers were out and about, trying to sell and buy things respectively. He stood close to Revy, trying not to lose her.

"Gar, I'll be getting a tattoo for sure, after having gone to that shoe-stall. If you want to stick around for it, be my guest and if not your choice."

"I'll be sticking around for sure. It's not like I have anything better else to do, I've been cut, beaten up, shot, stabbed and several other things, but I'll be honest, I'm terrified of needles, I want to try and work pass that fear. So... I dunno, if I don't chicken out, I might get a tattoo as well."

What am I thinking? That's a horrible idea! Aghhh! No tattoos! Why did I say that?! I hate needles! He mentally berated himself and looked to one of the stalls. "Hey, I think that one looks like it sells shoes."
