Cahal Appearance Race: Drykas Gender: Male Age: 24 Birthday: Spring 90, 491 Birthplace: Sea of Grass Appearance: A little over average height, Cahal stands 6’2” tall, and weighs around 190 pounds. He has dark brown hair and eyes, with tanned skin and a solid build. His windmarks are spread out over his chest, left shoulder, and upper left arm. They are black and grey, moving with the curve of the body, like gusts of wind. Due to his life of travel, he is hardly ever cleanshaven, and seems to be perpetually stubbled. He does have his share of scars from fights, most notably a trio of gashes down his right side from a glassbeak. Cahal dresses fairly simply, despite being from the Amethyst Clan. He values form and utilization over excessive frippery, though he always displays his clan colours with a vivid purple sash. He always wears fingerless leather gloves and archer’s arm guards on both arms. Character Concept Cahal is a social, gregarious person. He can be charming, and gets along easily with many types of personalities. He has a general tendency to get to the meat and bones of a matter, and he can be sharp with people he views as lazy. He was taught to respect others and allow them their dignity, as per his people’s teachings, but he is by no means a doormat. He has confidence and faith in himself, which some may view as arrogance, but he knows better. While many Drykas are open with their emotions, Cahal tends to hide his darker thoughts except from those he is close to. Character History Cahal is the third son of the Ankal of the Windstorm Pavilion, and his second child with his first wife. He had a fairly rough and tumble childhood, learning different fighting skills from his brothers and father, going hunting and riding, and learning how to thrive in their wild and dangerous home. He was especially close with a slightly older boy, Koen, who may as well have been another brother to him. His father's brother, Tynan, began to teach Koen the beginnings of Webbing, along with his older brothers Larkin and Glyn, and two of his cousins - Kennan and Yvon, Tynan's children. Being of the Amethyst Clan, he and his strider, Eithos, made a powerful team. They proved adept at navigating the grasslands and Cyphrus in general, though through the years, he did not come out unscathed. He began to act as a courier between his pavilion and others on the Sea of Grass, bearing messages back and forth. It was while Cahal was undertaking these duties that he and Koen were finally separated, though they remained best friends. When he was 21, he married Koen’s younger sister, Tula. After a year of marriage, however, he became a widower when she died from complications of childbirth with their stillborn daughter. Cahal, grieving, went back to couriering, spending more and more time on the grass and away from the pavilion. He wasn’t quite ready for another marriage, even though he knew it was his duty to do so - with the high mortality rates amongst the Drykas, children were prized and precious. But after a harsh falling-out with Koen, Cahal and Eithos headed to Riverfall.
