Summer 55, 515 AV – Syliran Theatre
The Syliran Theatre was decorated with numerous flowers arranged about the stone pillars of the courtyard and at the tables surrounding the venue. There was an array of twenty to thirty chairs in the center and all facing the same direction. Three rows with an aisle down the middle, dividing them into six. Syna shined brightly that day with the occasional large grey cloud passing overhead.
There were four chairs at the front. Two on one side facing the audience and two on the other side with substantial room in between. These would be for the guests of honor: Ball, Devi, Nivel and Garland. Just beyond the ‘stage’ area was a backdrop of stone pillars, a statue and a decorative display of flowers: red, white and blue. Guests were already beginning to gather and sit down. They had received formal invitations in neat clear handwriting to arrive in the early afternoon for the 14th bell.
A soft but clear melody began on a flute as Amelia played a rather calm piece while standing near the front but off to the side. Those citizens not attending the wedding but passing through the area would discretely walk by well behind the last row of chairs. It was clearly an arranged event despite the public setting and few would be rude enough to interrupt.
Sayana was just inside the door of an adjoining district. Her hair was done up, tight braids along the sides and her long hair flowing down her back. Her lips and eyes were accented with red along with black khol lining her eyes. She wore her wedding dress of brilliant red and white coupled with red low heeled shoes. Her bouquet matched with red and white roses as well as other flowers she couldn’t name. And lastly there was a single blue flower adorning her wrist with the blue stoned ring upon it.
Her heart was thumping as she waited. From nerves, excitement, joy, everything. Fortunately Nivel was with her and she could admire the beautiful basket of petals and flowers the pycon held.
“They should be nearly ready,” Sayana whispered despite it hardly being necessary with the door closed. “You’ll be going first and then I’ll follow shortly after,” she instructed as if it hadn’t been obvious before. The stresses of planning it all were plenty enough, even if she did have help setting it up by the buskers of the square.
The guests of honor, except for Nivel would be asked to sit in one of the four chairs at the front and the groom and priestess would simply stand in the middle and await for Sayana to join them.
