Kael Character Sheet

Postby Kael Sunrunner on June 27th, 2015, 3:01 am

Name: Kael Sunrunner
Race: Drykas
Birthday: 13 Summer 493 AV (22)
Birthplace: The Sea of Grass
Gender: Male

Appearance
Image
Kael has a fairly common appearance in his newfound life. While he once sported long, ornamented hair, one of the steps in his journey to Syliras was hacking it all off. He hated to destroy it, but there was a part of him that couldn’t stand clinging to something he had been told he didn’t deserve. It was still left relatively long, being dark wild hair that falls to around shoulder-length, though nothing compared to what he was used to. He has the beginnings of a beard as the mark of his short travel from Cyphrus. His skin bears the worn look of a child raised on the Sea of Grass, though his defined features help take away that harsh look.
Possessing a more observant nature, he can easily be seen as intimidating to those that don’t know him, especially given his tall stature and athletic form. His seemingly harsh tattoos also give off an unfounded warning to those unfamiliar with their Drykas origins, though Kael has never been overly concerned with what people think of him.
While he did originally leave his home with some jewelry and other such ornaments, he sold every piece for scraps upon his travels, using some of the finer pieces to bargain passage with other travelers in hopes of safety from the creatures of Mizahar. And thus, he is left at the gates of Syliras with next to nothing.

Character Concept
Kael shares in the fierce passion of his people, but has forcibly instilled a more controlled air when his emotions are concerned. This constrained nature is often obvious in his actions, as if he is constantly biting his tongue before speaking. He was once wild and reckless, a loud individual that had little concern for reservation, until the death of his sister settled his fearlessness into something more contained.
Kael has a toxic sense of responsibility, often blaming himself for others problems. He is fairly passive, but believes in defending yourself and those at a disadvantage. However, the sense of pride and respect he was raised with has been slowly flaking away along his journey to Syliras. There is no pride in a man that has been exiled.
Now a young man with nothing, his story really begins when he finally makes his way to Syliras, hoping to salvage some form of a new life.

Pre-Creation-
Kael had always followed the excitement of the hunt since a young age. When he was lucky enough to find his Strider, Kala, at 15, he immediately took up the path of a hunter. Soon, his sister followed suit with her own Strider, and the pair began to make a friendly local name for themselves as new hunters.
However, as Kael continued to grow in age, his father began pushing for a marriage to ensure the Ankal line for their Pavilion. Kael disregarded every suitor, preferring to bury himself in the joy of hunting with others his age and occasionally members of his Pavilion. Finally, his father approached him seriously about the need to marry, to produce children. Likewise, Kael had managed the courage to tell his father that he was strictly attracted to men. Superstitious as always, his father erupted in rage, condemning his son as a blight upon their pavilion and all those within. Kael disregarded the matter, and as was habit, went to his sister and the hunt for an escape. The two made a trip out onto the plains; the trip was savagely ended by an ill and injured glassbeak. The desperate creature attacked the riders, who barely escaped with their lives, though Arym’s was later claimed that night from her wounds. The Pavilion mourned the loss of their huntress, but Kael could see his father’s stare, the echoing words that he had brought a curse upon the home.
Farther into the night, still grief-stricken from the loss, the men clashed again at the edge of their Pavilion. A murderer, he was called, reckless and irresponsible, a host of other names that had no place. Kael immediately resolved to leave, but his father decidedly exiled him, condemning his son to a permanent disconnection with the Sea of Grass he had just started to read, a permanent separation from his beloved Strider. Without a plan, without thinking, Kael left his home on foot, carving his way towards Syliras.
