She is caring in nature, but quite capable of doing what must be done. She holds the quiet conviction of her mother, mixed well with the determined energy of her father.
Character Concept
Spirit and determination ruled the youngest of the Riverstone children. Never to be left behind, she chose to follow along with the older children of the pavilion. Nexus enjoyed the younger girl's conviction and challenged her at every turn. The two became inseparable, going farther, pushing harder and accomplishing more than both sets of parents ever expected. When Pearl lost her beloved mother and the older brother she cherished, Trail, her father, doted upon her, catering to her spirit, choosing to watch his daughter soar.
Character History
In her younger years, Trail, her father was busy with his responsibilities with The Watch. He did not neglect his family, but his duties kept him busy and preoccupied on most occasions. Rave, Pearl's older brother often taught her how to manage her dagger. Pearl's spirit would not allow her to simply be satisfied with accomplishing a goal. She had to do it better and faster each time.
Nexus was never very far away in these lessons. The two younger Drykas were always together, attempting to out do one another with each task. Nexus was older, but he never pushed Pearl away. Rather he took her beneath his wing as well and challenged her to better herself, and him, if she could. They were the sort of friends that never left each others side, regardless of what lay before them. As they grew, so did that friendship, blossoming into a romance and a love that was stronger than the Pavilion had seen in young couple for many years.
When tragedy struck and Pearl's mother Willow and her brother Rave, were suddenly taken from them, it was Nexus that wouldn't allow Pearl to slow down. He remained by her side, urging her to continue in her mother's lessons of the ways of healing. It was difficult for Pearl to continue, and many times she cried over the pouches of herbs trying to remember the words of her mother. That was when a hand would find her shoulder, and she would find the strength to go on.
But it wasn't always Nexus' hand; Trail's was there just as often and just as steady. When he lost his wife and son, he stepped back from his responsibilities of The Watch to dote upon the only child that remained. When Nexus asked Trail for Pearl in marriage, Trail had no reservations in seeing the two wed Before the Gods.
The marriage was blessed with a pregnancy early on and the parents-to-be remained blissful in their love. Pearl was working in the clinic when they brought a very pale and very obviously poisoned Nexus in for treatment. The snake bites were Bells old, and all of her efforts were expended. She sat for those last bells with him resting with his head in her lap, and her wiping the sweat from his brow with a cloth cooled in water, until he passed.
