She received a beautiful white dress from one woman and Alija thanked her, holding it up to herself to see what it looked like. Beautiful. The cake was greeted gladly by all the guests, although she could see that many did not have the sweet tooth she did.
Eventually, Pulren approached her with a smile, revealing a well crafted gold braclet. His words were awkward, but no more so than Alija's would have been, and she took it gratefully, pulling it around her wrist. It fit perfectly, and went well with her dress. "Thank you so much! The bracelet is beautiful - I'm glad you're enjoying the party. Having you here is great."
She smiled, standing a little awkwardly until Kial dragged her away for a while, asking her to help him get another slice of cake. The party lasted a little longer, guests mingling and eating, some even dancing to the violin. Alija laughed and talked with the guests, loosening up a little towards the end.
Finally, the evening had come to an end, and the guests all slowly trickled out, Alija careful to thank each one for their gift and for coming. When they had all gone, the atmosphere deflated, leaving Alija a year old and hopefully a little wiser. Perhaps with a few more acquaintances too.
She settled down with a piece of bread and cheese, and the last of the wine. A little cake remained, and a sausage, and Alija finished them off too, sneaking Kial small pieces. He gave a yawn and she mirrored. It had been a long day, and now, it had come to an end.
"Thanks for that Kial," she smiled, drifting off to sleep. It had been a good day too.
