Timekeeping: Summer 35, 515 AV Setting: Sunset Falls Already Victoria could feel the humidity in the air as she neared the Falls. The sky was scattered with large white clouds with tints of grey. They blocked most of the sun and she was thankful that she hadn’t chosen a warmer day. The plants seemed to flourish though in the heat and dampness. The bright hues of reds and greens and oranges were stunning. Gazing up further out across the field, Victoria saw the streams of sun streaked in columns through the clouds and Sunset Falls just a few hundred metres farther, providing a beautifully picturesque view. Walking towards the falls, Victoria’s skirt slid over the the tops of the petals and leaves. Once, she stopped and bent down to smell a calendula with a particularly striking pattern of yellows. Moving slowly, she stretched out her hands to feel the full relief of the lazy wind blowing past her and catching in the wisps of her hair. Now at the waterfall, its sight had brought back memories of her childhood next to the river near her house. This was exactly what Victoria was hoping for. After moving to Syliras, Victoria found herself becoming sidetracked with all the hassles of moving in and getting settled. She pulled out her flute and fumbled for a minute with the finger placement. It really had been too long since she had played. Testing out a few notes, a group swallows flew out of the tall grass in surprise. Her lips and fingers soon found a pattern and a gentle but growing melody emerged, emulating the running water. |
