The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Kailey nodded enthusiastically, before her smile faltered. Her heart skipping a beat, and then another, before jumping wildly around her chest, making it feel as though it were going to leap out from between her rip cage. Her chest rose and fell unevenly, hurriedly, as her breath caught in her throat. Her face growing flush, while a sheen of sweat seemed to magically appear. She tried to wipe some away with the back of her arm, but it didn't seem to do more than douse it for a brief moment, before it reformed. The Kelvic wished she could have blamed the sun, but it was not to be so. "You eat... rabbit?" she asked, quietly, as she wiped her forehead off again before returning her hand to her side. She gulped. "Why? Surely it isn't very tasty... all gamey, and... stuff." She gulped again before shaking her head, and deciding it was time to change the subject to the other item the drykas girl had settled upon.
Kailey nodded solemnly; the notion of eating rabbits still at the forefront of her mind. "They're called Akalak. Sometimes they're different colors too. Purple. Red. Green, but darker than the grass." She paused. "They're a strong people. Very, very tall." She bent down; letting her legs fold as she crept closer to the ground before springing up as high as she could. "Like this tall!" she explained, before falling back down and straightening herself out. "They all do something for their city- train the others, guard it, that sort of thing. They're all very strong and well built." She paused. "There are no women to their kind, so they seem to really like when women come to visit them." She scratched her head. "Although I don't really know why. I always thought men and women were just as interesting as one another in their own ways." |

Kailey smiled broadly, and shook her head. Causing her hair to whip wildly around her until she made it all stop. "Not a one," she replied. Her eyes studying the apparently rather perplexed expression upon Amu's face. She wondered idly why it was there, before shrugging and letting the full expanse of her smile return. A sparkle in her eyes as she crept closer to the drykas, despite her lingering trepidation that the woman may try to eat her.
"Didn't know people hurried to get married," Kailey said simply. "Doesn't seem all that important. Doesn't seem like something you should be rushing into doing," she finished, although this had more to do with the fact that it didn't seem as though it were as necessary as foraging for food and drink, and ensuring you had some sort of shelter to live in at any given time than anything else. "But companions can be nice. Friends. It helps ensure that you don't get lonely, and you always have someone to talk to and stuff." She paused. "Don't you like that bit?" she asked, before falling silent a moment as she awaited an answer.
"Wouldn't you like it if one of your friends went to learn about herbs and stuff with you?" Kailey inquired. "Wouldn't it be easier to study with someone and to learn?" she paused. "What do you mean? I eat and drink and sleep and stuff just like every'un else." Then she shook her head. "And I'dun want anything that you're cooking. It smells funny," she insisted as she wrinkled her nose. "Don't suppose you have clovers or dandelions or anything like that in there?" she finished, with a vague gesture toward the woman's things. |

Kailey sniffed the air again- she could smell it now, the scent of dandelion intermingling with the blasphemy that was the soup or stew, or porridge, or whatever it was that Amunet was making for her own snack. Her eyes seemed to smile as much as her lips, as she finally took the bowl from the drykas girl, and began eating with the help of her fingers. Chewing thoughtfully a few times, before swallowing it down with a loud gulp. "Don't worry about it, I like dandelions plain too," she explained as she ate some more, while scarcely taking the time to chew it at all.
"They're quite nice," Kailey said. "Did you collect them because you like to eat them too? Or cook with them? Or is it just something you use for medicine? Sometimes, the Akalak use it for something, I think... or maybe it's the Konti." Kailey pulled one hand off the bowl and scratched her chin. She thought about it for a few minutes before tearing it away, and stuffing more dandelion in her mouth. The edge lolled out the side as she shrugged and said, "you know, never mind, simply can't remember," and smiled widely, almost as though she were trying to use the expression to cover up her blunder.
Kailey chuckled, as she ate more dandelion, and then finished the bowl. "Thank you," she said, as the grass to the east rustled. Her ears prickling against the sound, although her nostrils didn't flare against the smell- the wind was carrying everything away, and she could discern nothing more. Not if it was something to fear, or just the breeze moving the grass. |

The way she ate was peculiar but it made her smile. ‘ To each their own,’ the girl thought. Amunet listened to the brunette as she chuckled softly.
“yes I actually do like them. The roots I save to dry and make into medicine. It makes one pass water quicker. “ The red head explained quickly. “I don’t think I seen a Konti either. “ This lonely girl must have traveled a lot.
The girl looked around the vast Sea of Grass. “Isn’t it dangerous for you to be out here alone without any provisions?” No tent, nothing to cook with. No mount, no weapons nothing, none that she could detect.
Amunet’s small hand reached out and took the bowl from the girl. Her sky blue eyes looked at her with a concern. “Where are you sleeping? “ The girl had a darn habit of being a little too trusting. Her compassion and concern wiggles out during times like this. The little woman figured if she was in danger something would have happened already.
When the girl’s nostrils flared at the sound, Amunet jumped and looked around. The girl got up and looked around camp carefully. Her horse gave her a weird look coming up out of her doze with a ‘Really?’ expression. She went back to her doze. Those blue eyes gave her a frustrated exasperated expression and her arms flopped to her side lightly. Amunet took that queue as if the horse was relaxed then there was nothing to fear. The huff of a sigh escaped as she went to sit at her fire. She picked up her meal and started eating gingerly.

Kailey smiled, and then shook her head. "Course not. Well... not really. Gotten used to it out here and know what I'm doing well enough," she explained before falling silent, and giving the drykas a most curious expression. "Tonight?" she asked, before thinking on it a moment, which really wasn't a moment at all, any more than it was a breath. "Anywhere I want really- anywhere where it smells fresh, and clean, and natural, and nice," she explained. "Just have to set up the tent, and then I can burrow inside and get all comfortable, and sleep nicely and everything," she explained. "It's nice to camp out sometimes, you know, under the stars, they're really pretty, and all sparkly, and SILVER!"
Kailey laughed innocently as she studied Amu's features. Her lip seemed to quiver funnier than before, at least to her, just like her eyes seemed to suggest that the woman was a little confused. "You're probably wondering what I'm talking about, aren't you?" she laughed again. "I set my bag down. Hid it you could say- not to far from here. It slows you down, and all the things rattle around and make a lot of noise, which isn't very nice when you want peace and quiet, or to not be found by the scary things that lurk in the grass." She paused. "Besides, it gets a little heavy, so I tend to leave it somewhere when I don't absolutely need anything." She smiled, as her eyes wandered over to the fire. The embers seemed to glow far more dully, and the flame itself didn't seem to stretch as high to her naked eye. The smoke seemed to lessen too, as the wind swept through and tossed a few sparks before it died away. "Do you think we should feed that?" she asked, as she pointed to the campfire. "Or do you not need it to cook your food anymore?" |

"What's a glassbeak?" Kailey asked as she nodded and went to take a seat beside the fire, watching as Amu added both more kindling, and the dung chip to it. The instant she had, she wrinkled her nose. It didn't smell very pleasant at all, and to her, and her sensitive nostrils, it likely smelled even worse.
"What are you so afraid of, Amu?" Kailey asked, as she shifted ever so slightly away from the fire, just in case it would cause her to have to smell it a little less. It didn't, or at least, if it did, Kailey certainly didn't notice any sort of difference. "Do you think something is going to come out of the grass and try to eat us?" she asked with a small chuckle, before falling silent for a moment. "Have you been attacked before? Is that why you are so fearful?"
Again, she fell silent a moment, and awaited an answer. "There is nothing substantial out there, nothing to be heard," Kailey insisted as her ears twitched. "There's just the wind, moving through the grass, and perhaps, a few bugs, and maybe a few rodents, or two." She could smell them, although it was getting harder as she was sitting beside the fire.
"Nothing to worry about," Kailey assured the woman. |
