Character ConceptCurrent Status: A Syliran Squire with
a lot to learn.
Mara's goal is to become a Syliran Knight. She was born in Syliras and lived there her entire life. However, she did not come upon this goal to become a knight until she saw a small pack of them one day and realized that becoming a Knight might fill the void she had been seeking to fill for some time.
Besides forever seeking a bondmate (something her parents explained to her a long time ago) Mara is a very social person. She hates being alone as it only exaggerates the feel of that empty void. She enjoys making friends and going on adventures.
When in her wolf form, Mara loves to run around the forest and hunt whatever she can. She usually only hunts small game and never really takes on any huge animals unless there is a need to. She stays away from other people, not wanting to risk any accidents. She also, typically, stays clear of roaming packs of wolves. Lately she has only shifted when necessary due to focusing her time and energy on training to become a knight.
Character HistoryMara was born on the 22nd day of Spring of the year 492. She was born to two Kelvic parents in the city of Syliras. Her mother and father had met years ago in the nearby forest surrounding Syliras. Both her parents had already bonded with other mates, however this initial sighting was love at first sight. Her mother, a fox Kelvic, had been traveling back from a hunting trip with friends when she came across her future husband. Mara's father, a squirrel Kelvic, was a passionate aspiring artist who thought moving to Syliras with his bondmate would help him connect more to his work. It was only shortly after they first initially crossed paths when they fell in love. Since then they never left each other's side.
Because Mara's parents were content with living in Syliras, Mara lived out her entire childhood there. She grew up within the giant castle, usually going with her mother to the nearby forest to run around in her wolf form. During her childhood, both of Mara's parents made sure their daughter knew as much as they could teach her about her culture and the world around her. For this part her father did most of the talking, going into great detail about the parts of the world he had seen and the parts he still longed to see.
Life went pretty smoothly for Mara for a majority of her childhood. Her mother did her very best to teach her daughter how to stay alive in the world while her father spent hours telling stories about the world. It was when Mara reached adulthood, eighteen, when her parents decided to leave Syliras and explore more of the world together. Mara opted not to join them, believing it was time to leave her familiar family pack and find her own way in life. Her parents soon left Syliras, promising to keep in touch as often as possible.
After her parents had left and Mara was on her own, she decided it was time to figure out what she wanted out of life. Her parents had bonded with their respective mates, found each other, fell in love, started a family, and were now exploring the world together. What did
she want out of life? What was her purpose? Mara knew that she needed a bondmate eventually. Ever since she had hit puberty she had felt a cold void resting within her. Try as she might (and she did try) nothing could fill it except a bondmate. However, Mara firmly believed that finding a bondmate couldn't be the only thing she was destined to do. For the next few years she spent her time trying to figure out what to do with herself and who she was. It wasn't until she spotted a pack of Syliran Knights when she realized what she had been searching for.
She immediately began looking into how to become a Knight. She knew that no one in her family had been a Knight in the past. That was not an available option for her. But she could prove herself and earn a spot within the ranks of the Syliran Knights. It would require a lot of training. Mara understood that. This wasn't an easy feat to accomplish. She could fail. She could easily fail. But seeing those Knights, watching as they worked together as a small pack, Mara knew that passing up this chance could mean completely missing her destiny. And what if her bondmate was hidden away within the ranks? She couldn't live her life out alone and miserable. She needed to at least try. And then if she failed, well, at least she tried.
