It was near midnight, and Euchse was sleeping in her Kulkukan Dorm. Sleeping away the creeping reminder of what she'd do to survive the following morning. It wasn't easy, being poor. Hell, the earth was richer than she was. It even had it's own nourishing nutrients. What did she have? Nothing but the skin on her back, the skin covering her back, and the skin above her head.
Skin, skin, skin; all that skin, and for what? To keep slowly decomposing organs inside her body? She'd've rather sold them to the devil and died long ago. There was no place for her here. She wasn't welcome, so why bother staying here and living her life?
Alas, Euchse's mind dragged her elsewhere, into abstract dreams and visions, into endless voids and heavenly embraces. Her body seemed to soar up and down with the mental flow of her thoughts. In and out, back and forth, side to side. It was as if her inner crane was released from a cage, and she could spread her wings to fly high and far. What crazy euphoria to experience! What an odd satisfaction!
Yet, in the midst of all this, a darkening enigma seemed to envelope her dream. It felt inclusive, and her emotions suddenly resisted this dark and terrifying feeling. Then, she heard her name, and her vision seemed to expand beyond her eyes. She saw herself, stiff, but being dragged toward someone.
A woman stood before her; a tall, hidden woman. All she chose to reveal was her feline eyes, her long, thin nose, and the front of her hair. Her bangs were cut to the eyebrow, a wide angle pointed down to a perfectly symmetrical face. Her deep set eyes were locked onto Euchse, pulling her in subconsciously. She called out to her again, and once Euchse was close enough, she spoke these words:
"Come to my aid, young Euchse! You have been riddled with grief for too long, as have I! Speak to me, Euchse, return a voice!"
All the Kelvic could manage was, "... I'm... Here."
"Hear me out, Kelvic! Hear my voice! I am here! Bring back my followers to me! I survive, and dread the chains to which I'm bound! The chains of obliteration weigh on me! Rally my people, and free me! Free your loving Lisirra!"
No later did the woman's words cease than Euchse jerked awake. She sat up quickly, as if she laid upon a serpent. Her breathing was heavy, her face was a pure white, and her pupils were practically nonexistent. She was clammy, sweaty even, and she had to grip her chest to ease her breath.
Lisirra... The name was mentioned before, but she had never truly remembered the name until now. This Lisirra called out to her, begging for help. Wasn't she dead? Only living gods could speak to those of lesser bodies. But she called to her! Rally her people, she said! Free her chains, she said!
This thought was very revelational, and Euchse had the sudden urge to arise and consult the history books. But where would she find them? Ah, yes, the Valkalah! They were sure to have something about it! She left her room and head to the direction of the library, determined to discover something about this woman.
