Gender: Male
Age: 16
Birthday: Season of Spring, Day 19, 499 AV
Birthplace: Sylira (Not in any city in particular)
Appearance: Larka stands at a height of 5'10" weighing around 170lbs. His skin resembles the dark colour of the Zith with a tint of grey in it. His flexible body is thin and lean and looks devoid of any large amount of fat. Despite that he is naturally fit and his body is fairly limber from all his years spent with the travelling troupe. Along with his dark skin Larka's eyes are as close to a pitch black as you can get, and his midnight black hair is kept tied back in a braid to keep from getting in the way of his acrobatics.
Hidden underneath his clothing Larka's body is covered in various scars that are primarily present on his back where his flesh has been split open by a whip over the years of his childhood. There are other smaller scars present in various parts of his body from falls and other various mistakes that came with learning his trade. Another area where a noticeable amount of scars have gathered are his feet as all acrobats were required to cross the tightrope barefooted. Years of this has turned the soles of his feet calloused, toughened, and scarred.
Character ConceptLarka Faux was born and raised in a travelling troupe, Faux's Troupe of the Bizarre to be specific. His home was the troupe and thus his life was the troupe. The troupe traveled between Syliras and Zeltiva, and would stay at each city for a few months each before packing up and travelling back to the previous city. Rain, shine, sleet or snow the show must go on. Despite Larka's abusive childhood with Ringmaster Faux, the owner of the troupe, he still feels indebted to Faux for giving him a life and teaching him so many things. With a strong curiosity for anything that catches his eye Larka has suffered at the end of Faux's whip many a time for asking too many questions about the world outside the troupe. His punishments never broke his spirit, however, instead it merely strengthened it. Surely the world outside the troupe must be amazing if Ringmaster Faux has to go through so much effort to keep it hidden.
Character HistoryLarka Faux has lived his entire life knowing next to nothing of his own birth. He wasn't even told his mother's name. All he was told was that his mother was raped by a feral Zith during the troupe's time in between cities, and that his father was killed by the troupe guards after being caught raping his mother. In fact the only reason why he was even allowed to live after his birth was because of Faux's greedy desires to make him into a main attraction. Despite how weak Ringmaster Faux's story may have seemed to anyone, Larka trusted the Ringmaster as if he were his own father. However, Ringmaster Faux acted nothing like a father. Faux was a cunning man in that all of the people he has hired were all people he has tricked into signing a contract that was weighted solely towards him and not the victim. Said contract would keep you at the troupe for ten years and any children you may have would automatically be owned by Faux for a further ten years. Slavery was a crime in the cities that Ringmaster Faux took his troupe, and since he did not wish for the Knights to quickly tear apart his organization he devised other ways to keep his men and woman of the troupe. Through viciously aggressive treatment of his actors and 'freaks' Faux would whittle down one's spirit bit by bit to where by the time the ten years on the contract are up the victim would have absolutely no spirit to leave and return to what their lives might have been. They only live to take part of the show now.
During Larka's time with the troupe he had learned many skills in order to please his father Faux. Among the many acrobatics that he learned while taking part of the troupe's shows he has also learned how to navigate through a crowd unnoticed along with how to quickly look for the tell-tale bulges of coin-purses. As the main show was really just a distraction for Faux's "Children" to use to relieve unsuspecting villagers and various Syliran citizens of their hard earned Mizas. He learned to never cut the coin-purse itself as the victim would merely find out that his purse was slashed. Instead it was far better to cut the ties that kept the purse attached to the victim. This way the victim will more than likely assume it has simply untied and be none the wiser of Faux's scheme. Of course anything Larka takes from his victims he wasn't able to keep as it all went to Faux.
Over the years as Larka gained more and more experience with his skills at the troupe he was given more and more leeway with what he could get away with at the troupe. Larka began getting more and more curious about the world outside the troupe and thus began to wonder how he could get out there. Of course just asking Faux if he could leave was out of the question. Faux would get all agitated and always say, "And let my star performer just walk out into that nasty world to die? I think not!" and if he were to persist then he was almost always guaranteed to get whipped. This would not stop him as, unknowing to Faux, Larka began mingling with the crowds more instead of pick-pocketing them. Hearing rumors and conversations about the world outside. Everything was all so fascinating to Larka and he craved more and more each day. Thus a plan was hatched. A plan to escape the troupe once and for all.
Over the past four years Larka had been sneaking away a coin or two from his daily stash that he was supposed to deliver to Ringmaster Faux. A silver here, a couple copper there, and on the rarest occasions he'd be able to swipe a gold miza. After four years of hoarding money, playing the shows, and deceiving the man he considered a father who's only gift to Larka ever was the penknife he used to cut coin purses. Larka Faux was ready to disappear from the troupe and head out into the wondrous world outside of the troupe. He had it all planned out. Wrapping his clothing around several slabs of bloody, raw meat. Larka tossed them into the cage of their fiercest beast. While the beast was busy eating he quickly unlocked the cage and swung the door wide open. Slipping away into the night as the beast had begun its rampage through the troupe Larka got his money from the stash and his bag and ran. He ran as hard as he could not stopping for anything. He didn't stop when he heard the screams and shouts echoing through the air nor when his lungs ached and burned. He just ran and ran into the night never once looking back as he head down the beaten road towards Syliras.
This is where Larka Faux's story starts. Having just recently escaped from the troupe, presumed dead, he arrives at the great city of Syliras after just a little over an hour of desperate running almost as if his life depended on it.
