Miya nodded warmly and smiled again. Her hand moved closer to Iris' and it stopped for just a second "Are you allowed in the tavern?", she asked before taking the girl's hand lightly and grinning.

It seemed strange how calm this girl was. Unusual, especially around here. Miya has been a witness to many sad stories where girls have been raped, killed or enslaved by both women and men. Was this one aware of it all? Was she a predator?

No, it didn't seem so. Those big, black eyes had something warm in them, even though they were bringing bad memories up in Miya's head.
When will I be unleashed?
It's not the way it should be.
Yearning again only to be myself
When I'm free...

"Are you allowed in the tavern?" Miya asked, before lightly taking her hand. The girl's hands were small, and felt rather cold. Iris smiled lightly, her eyes flashing mischievously, but the flash was gone as quickly as it had appeared, "ahh the tavern," she paused, "why yes, as far as I know I'm allowed there." Another pause. "After all, I've been there once before, a few days ago actually."

Iris turned her head away briefly for a moment as she thought about the conversation she had had, and how she had caused the waitress to drop a few drinks. My that was embarrassing she thought. But she pushed the memory out of her mind, and squeezed Miya's hand, before turning her head back to face her. She gave a wide smile, one that seemed to stretch her lips from one side of her face to the other. "Lead the way," she said.

Miya smiled back wide, her eyes were locked on Iris' lips for a second before turning around and moving towards the tavern, quite fast. Her head would turn to the side every now and then to check if the girl was keeping up
"I'm sorry if I'm going too fast, but it's a bit too cold for my taste"

Shivering lightly, she stopped by the door of a big, dark building. It sounded like it was crowded in there. Miya smiled again, slowly moving her free hand to adjust her dress and then gently push the giant door. It was, as she guessed, crowded in there.

Lots of men and women were sitting around, drinking and talking. The ones closer to the door turned around slightly to check the newcomers and then went back to whatever they were doing.
Wow, this place looks more and more dirty ever day.., Miya added, frowning before slowly stepping into the, at least warm room

Iris followed Miya, who seemed to be walking rather quickly, luckily, Iris had fairly long legs and always seemed to be able to trail a few paces behind her. It was harder to stay next to her when they weren't holding hands, and Iris didn't know where they were going, or at least, not entirely.

At one point, while Iris was a few paces behind, perhaps a few more than usual, Miya called to her, "I'm sorry if I'm going too fast, but it's a bit too cold for my taste." Worried that the girl wouldn't see her gesture if she simply nodded in response, and not wanting to seem rude, Iris said, "Oh, it's quite alright. I'm quite chilly myself," as she started to curl her arms around her chest, trying to lock in whatever heat remained.

Abruptly, or at least abruptly to Iris, Miya stopped in front of a door. It led to a big, dark building. Iris vaguely remembered this building being the tavern. Miya pushed open the door, and a burst of wind shot past them and into the tavern. It was very crowded, and rather noisy. "Wow, this place looks more and more dirty every day," Miya commented, before stepping inside. Iris soon followed, and the door shut with a loud bang behind her. It shut so quickly, courtesy of the wind, that it nearly hit Iris as it swung shut. Slightly startled, Iris said, "it sure does," in a slightly breathless voice, before spotting an empty table with two seats across the tavern, and fairly far away from the door. She pointed it out to Miya, "want to sit there?" she asked.

Miya chuckled and slowly pushed her hair back down, over her chest to cover the bare skin. She knew what kind of people were looking at them and the best thing to do was to keep it quiet and safe.
"Yea, sure, we can go there... just try not to... talk to the guy replacing the waitress at the time being.", rolling her eyes, she slowly took Iris' hand again and started moving towards the empty table.

The same crowd that turned around when the door shut was looking again. Some of them at their hands, some of them and Miya and some at Iris. For Miya, that was quite embarrassing and strange, especially if she noticed men were watching her.

"Hey, you two, come join us!", yelled a guy from the left side of the tavern at the table with five or six more of them. Miya ignored it though, keeping her eyes low till she made it to the table and sat down
"Sometimes I really hate this place"

"Yea, sure, we can go there... just try not to... talk to the guy replacing the waitress at the time being," Miya said before taking Iris' hand and leading her towards the table she had pointed out.

Miya's hands were still pretty cold, and as Iris glanced around the room, she noticed quite a few bar-goers staring at them. What were they thinking? she wondered. They seemed to stare at the two of them with wide eyes, that seemed to cover just about every color under the sun, and strange grins. Strange, slightly off-putting grins.

Even so, it seemed to Iris that Miya either didn't notice, or was doing a good job of ignoring it all. A really good job.

"Hey, you two, come join us!" yelled a guy from the left side of the tavern at the table with five or six more of them. Miya seemed to ignore that to, and when they reached the table they intended to sit at, Miya seemed to whisper, "sometimes I really hate this place," as they both sat down.

Iris nodded her understanding, and crossed her right leg over her left as she sat. "I can understand that," just as a half-empty kelp beer glass flew past her ear, and shattered against the wall. Apparently, a bar fight had broken out, and since everyone seemed to be so darn drunk, no one seemed to be able to aim, luckily, or perhaps, unluckily, the two men had moved on to throwing punches instead of cheap liquor.

Miya shook her head and rolled her eyes, dropping her tiny backpack to the ground, in case she had to transform. It was bad enough if she actually had to rip her pink dress apart.

Her eyes moved towards the guy who was replacing the waitress for an unknown reason. Miya nodded to him and he walked towards them with a cheeky, sick grin
"What can I offer you ladies?", his eyes roamed from one girl to the other, glancing over his shoulder at the guys fighting from time to time.

Miya sighed deeply. His grin was annoying her and she barely managed to hold herself back from kicking him in a really bad place
"I'll take a cup of tea, please.... and you Iris?"

Miya nodded towards the waiter. He seemed to instantly appear at their table, sporting a cheeky, sick grin. "What can I offer you ladies?" he asked, as his eyes wandered back and forth between the two of them. They were strange, hazel eyes, which Iris didn't like at all.

Iris heard Miya sigh. "I'll take a cup of tea, please.... and you Iris?" Miya asked. Iris thought for a moment, she didn't really want anything. But should she simply say that, or get something not to be rude? Deciding that she didn't want to risk drinking out of one of the cups, remembering how filthy they looked to her the last time she was here, she said, "I'm alright, thank you." There was a pause as the waiter stared at her stupidly. "I don't want anything." He still wasn't leaving. She stared up at him as he towered over her, "you can go now," she said, a hint of irritation in her voice. She waved him away, reluctantly, he returned from whence he came.

Iris sank in her seat, usually, she didn't talk that way to other people. In fact, usually, she tolerated things, and silently obeyed people, but that man put her on edge. The dark and dirty bar, with everyone staring at her and her companion, put her on edge. It made her feel small, and cornered, like she was in a cage, and all she wanted to do was run out of the bar, and fly the heck away.

Even though she was small and insignificant in comparison to the sky, it always made her feel big. Protected. Safe. Home.

Miya slowly squeezed Iris' hand at the girl's comment to the guy. Nodding lightly, she whispered as he left
"Let's try and keep it safe till they forget we are here
At her words, one of the guys laughed loudly, reaching out to play with Miya's hair in the same, sick way the waiter smiled before.

Miya had just about enough of this place, and before she actually managed to keep herself away from doing anything bad, she turned around and the wild side of her made a rather scary, loud growl. Her eyes had already turned their color and shape, becoming more cat-like then before.

"I would suggest you to leave me alone", she managed to whisper before literally hissing at the man who trembled across the room. This wasn't unusual for Miya, not one bit actually. Everyone that knew her knew that she was a bit of a nutcase.

It seems like she got quite a bit of attention at the bar. Some of the guys looked at her in shock, some looked at the other girl like they were asking
"What the hell are you doing with that lunatic?" and some... well, some of them looked like predators.

As good as it was to scare this guy by showing her animal side off, it was just as bad because these men out there knew what she was. She was a Kelvic, born to serve, born to serve one of them.

The end means a new beginning (Iris Dove)

After the waiter was out of ear shot, Miya said, "Let's try and keep it safe till they forget we are here." Iris giggled, a bar, safe? That's a new one, she thought to herself.

Just then, a guy leaned over and started to play with Miya's hair, she turned to him and growled. "I would suggest you to leave me alone," Miya hissed at him. He seemed to slink with his proverbial tail between his legs, all the way across the room.

The men all around the bar started to stare even more intently at Iris and Miya, or so it seemed to Iris at least. Their eyes bore into their skin. Was she missing something? I mean, all Miya did was defend herself. Or maybe, there was something not quite so human about the girl. After all, she did growl at the guy who was playing with her hair. Do people normally growl? Iris wondered, before realizing that they certainly didn't. Well, at least girls didn't, sometimes men did when they were upset. It always made her laugh a bit.

The waiter returned with Miya's beverage. He placed it in front of her before quickly turning around on his heels, and returning to the area behind the bar. That's strange, Iris thought, he was all over us before. There must be something, inhuman, about that one. Something wild. Then it dawned on Iris, perhaps Miya really was wild, perhaps, the young girl was like her.

Iris bit her bottom lip, and shifted uncomfortably in her seat. The day was sure to be an interesting one.
