The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

23rd Day of Summer, 515 AV
Five and a half bells past noon

It was warm and sunny, the sky was clear and Syna's light cast down about the mountain tops with glee, dancing through the trees to light upon the Konti woman who sat beneath them.

Despite what might have been considered overly warm weather for so early in the season, Tanell enjoyed the gentle heat of the early season, having taken the time to hike the trails to the waterfall that most often struck her fancy.

Syna's light was all part of the appeal, lighting up the falling water and the shroud of mist, casting opalescent colors to light the water and the surroundings, it reminded her of the scales of the Konti, catching the light and glistening with color of their own making.

It was a beautiful place, and more so when it was so quiet, only the occasional hiker or picnickers coming through as the bells ticked passed. Even when they visited, it stayed mostly quiet, the aura of the falls befitting awed silence over boisterous chatter.

With the weather and the steady trickle of people, it made the perfect spot to catch a person or two to read the cards for. Her shady table just outside the reach of the spraying water was safe enough for her cards.

She had spent the day after her visit with Kaik getting to know the cards, reading the small book, and otherwise acquainting herself with the new deck, so today she felt more than ready to do readings for people at full price. She was alone for the moment, so she left her bag and her cards and found one of the more tranquil pools, recalling lessons from her sister on how to braid her hair.

It was something about the three main strands crossing over one another, over and over in a pattern working from the inside out. Or was it outside in? She couldn't recall.

She glanced at her reflection in the pool, separating out three sections of hair from the wavy mass that fell around her face. She pulled them from the front, the hairs that fell closest around her face. Those were the ones she wanted out of the way. She held it in front of her face so she could see the weaving, her fingers falling into place as she separated the sections.

She recalled now, the pattern was either direction, the middle moving around alternating sides, or the sides switching with the middle in turn. She moved slowly thought the twists, passing sections from one side to the middle to the other side, it was fairly simple once she had recalled the pattern. What grew difficult was when the hair began to run out, sections falling short so that she had to add hair from one section to another to keep the braid going. She managed with only a few small bumps in the braid, growing troubled once more when the hair became finer, the braid smaller. It was difficult with only the tips of her fingers to hold the hair in place.

[Rainbow Falls] Good Luck!

Postby Aerges Frostfawn on August 15th, 2015, 10:49 pm

Run chores for the man! Well, it wasn't a chore if you enjoyed the task laid before you. Such was Aerges' situation, and he figured he'd take a different route to the same market he'd grown to know and love. It wasn't the people, but rather, the foods he could touch and smell. Despite the fact that the bar keep ran, well, a bar, there was the eventful choosing of groceries and combinations.
Aerges had the list written down on parchment, lest he get carried away and forget the ingredients. There was an odd satisfaction, him and food. His sister always said he was born in the wrong hold. As far as Aerges was concerned, that couldn't've been more true. He was thinking of all the smells and tastes he'd encounter, until a specific character caught his eye.

She was small, dainty, but not frail. In fact, her light and sunny look was further accentuated by the sun's own reflection. His violet eyes flickered to an aquamarine as his interest grew. He'd never seen such a beautiful young woman, no less, one with... Scales? Unless this woman was fond of tattoos, those were scales, and he'd never seen tattoos shimmer before.
She had out a book in front of her. Beside it, some cards. Magic? Aerges looked about him, wondering if any saw what he did. No one paid mind to it, however. He turned his attention back to the woman as she began to braid her hair. She was slow, methodical, even, and it reminded him of his mother. In fact, many things about this woman reminded him of her. The long, wavy hair. The tender, round eyes. Even the lightly pinked, pursed lips brought back memories. It was almost as if he was looking at a past vision, but he shook it from his mind.

However, his mind would not let go of the curiosity that so enveloped it. He gave in. Walking over to her, he gave a short wave. Once he caught her attention, he introduced himself.
"Pardon me," and upon her recognition, "My name is Aerges. Aerges Frostfawn. Who might you be?"

Tantalize

The tightly braided strands huged eachother close as she let the braid fall, allowing her hands to be free as she began to do the same process again on the opposite side of her head.

She caught sight of someone, she didn't recognize them, out of the corner of her eye. He wasn't in the range of her gift, but his gaze said he had some sort of interest in her, although she couldn't tell what kind of interest until he came closer. Not willing to startle him, she turned her gaze back to the water to focus on her hair while he decided what action he would take.

Once more she sectioned the pieces that fell closest to her face, twisting them in the pattern that allowed her to form a braid. Her fingers moved more swiftly this time, the recent trial adding confidence to her motion.

When she was finished she had two braids that she wrapped around her head until they met in the back. She crossed one over the other, tightening the hair to her scalp, then going by only the feel of her hair against her fingers she formed two partial loops, and twisted the ends of opposite braids through them, forming a woven knot at the back of her head that held the braids in place.

She could hear now, curiosity in his mind, and the proximity lifted her gaze to his. He introduced himself as Aerges Frostfawn, and to all appearances he was quite young. Tanell herself appeared young, no more than a few years older than this boy appeared, so she couldn't say for sure what age he was.

"I am called Tanell," She informed him in common, a welcoming smile turning the corners of her lips. She fluttered her hands to her cards, shuffling them about with what seemed a careless motion, but her intent was there, seeking an understanding of the boy, however vague, that she could glean from the cards.

The turn showed her a creature cloaked in darkness, frail, and sickly. The card had a number of potential meanings, but one thing was clear, the boy had experienced hardship and death in his past, and that made him both deserving of kindness, and potentially frightening.

She shifted slightly, turning herself gently away, but without truly dismissing the boy. She could continue with her cards, read her book, learn what it had to offer, as though she couldn't sense his curiosity.

Perhaps he would leave and she would be free to continue without concern about him.
