Show Me the Way (Shahar)

The air was heavy, it felt oppressive. Perhaps, not as intensely as it had during the summer season, but remnants of it still lingered, as though fall weren't yet willing to let it fade from memory. (Or whomever it was that controlled the weather within the roaming city). There wasn't a single cloud in the soft blue sky, at least, none that Kailey could see whenever she bothered to look up. The sun shone brightly within it however, its golden streamers of light stretching back down to the earth, and warming the soil as much as the tall grass that surrounded her; the canvas of the tents. Kailey stood near one. Or rather, she stood near a stack of hay bales near one. Which no one seemed to be paying any attention to or touching, so she supposed she could use them to practice her unarmed combat, as long as she made sure to keep them all nice, and not knock them around at all too much. Thus, she stood to the north side of the perhaps, three foot tall wall of hay, her body facing the longer portion of the rectangular structure. She fell into her favored starting position from there. She slid her right foot out in front of the left, so that they were spaced about twenty-four inches apart.

Kailey let her feet form a roughly ninety degree angle with one another, as she turned the toes of her left foot to the side, and kept those of the right directed on ahead. She turned her body from the waist up, and directed it toward the west. Then, she cocked each of her arms, and balled her hands into tight fists with her thumb tucked around the outer portion of the rest of her fingers. She bent her legs a little further at the knees, and leaned into the right foot, applying most of her weight onto it, as she hopped back and forth, shifting the weight off the lead now and again, before pressing it back into it. She pulled her arms out in front of her chest, so that they were about six inches in front of it. Each was held at an angle, the right at an ascending line to the left shoulder, and the left, across toward the right shoulder. Then, the Kelvic was sure to direct her gaze ahead at the hay bales, that was very, very important she knew, as it ensured that she could see most everything that was going on around her- the location of an opponent. From there, the Kelvic took a deep breath in through her nose and prepared herself to attack. She figured she would work on kicks today, as the bales weren't to high off the ground, and she would have to bend down a little to punch without her hand going over the intended target.

When she was done with her simple breathing exercise, Kailey pulled her right heel off of the ground. She let her toes lie delicately within the grass, as she pushed her right foot backward, until it fell onto the same line as the left. From there, she pulled it off the ground, and magnified the bend by her knee. Slowly, she pulled the limb into her chest, and then pushed it back out. She kept her toes straight as she rotated the limb onto her side, so that the top of her foot was directed toward the hay bale. From there, she rotated around on her hip, until her toes met with the hay bales. She didn't hit them hard, and thus, they didn't wobble and threaten to topple over upon impact. In addition, she simply crunched some of the hay, as opposed to separating it from the rest of the bale. She smiled, as she bent her leg again, and then drew it inward. Setting it back down a moment later, and then falling back into her starting position, so that she could either try the same round house kick again, or work on a different type of kick, depending on her mood at the moment..
