Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]
The Kendoka Sasaran is similar in design to the Tuvya Sasaran, making it almost a brother school, but instead, its walls are made from stone as opposed to wood. Glass windows also line its wall rather than thin screens of hemp. Its doors at the front swing open rather than slide. Upon stepping inside of the Kendoka Sasaran, prospective students are greeted with shouts and the sound of wooden practice weapons beating against each other.
The inside is a large open space of hardwood floor and wracks of weapons, both real and practice. In the Kendoka Sasaran, students practice in one large room, rather than in several different training rooms as with the Tuvya Sasaran, forming groups according to their weapon of choice. The open space also allows for the element of open field combat. If one student, while training in their respective group, backs away and bumps into another, a duel immediately happens between the two students, simulating an element of enemies being all around when fighting in the open. This gives the students a quick response mechanism as well as the opportunity to face off against several different types of weapons, learning how to combat each one.
Upon entering, prospective students are usually greeted by the Grand Master, who is normally circling the room, observing the class in whole. It is with him that new students are interviewed for what they want to learn before being shuffled off to learn beginning stages with one of the students before learning directly under their group supervisor. The pace is quick, and the energy level high as even most Akalak students leave the Kendoka Sasaran bruised, battered and tired after each day of training.
Mizra Aqdas :
Skills Lakan - 87 Duel Wield - 56 Longsword - 72 Halberd - 75 Akalak Hand to Hand - 42 Intimidation - 57 Teaching - 78 Gnosis - Wys- 2, Night Stalker - 2
Standing at nearly 8 feet tall, Mizra is a man of strong stature, his build and physique brought to it’s absolute Akalak peek. Dark blue eyes always seem to have an intimidating stare behind them, but such does not take away from his jovial nature. Most often, Mizra can be found walking around with two lakan strapped to his waist, one of them having a hilt of silver, the other a hilt of black onyx, representing his dual nature.
Mizra Aqdas is an Akalak Warrior right down to his bones. Some in Akalak culture state he was born with a Lakan in his hand. Upon fifteen years of age, he was the only child to fell a Glassbeak in his Trial of Rite, having only traveled with a supervisor, rather than a group of his peers. For his Rite of Manhood, he returned with the head of a Zith in four bells after setting out. Most, in the years to come, found him to be a natural with most weapons while he battled in the Arena, defeating most of his opponents in a matter of two chimes.
It wasn’t until Mizra arrived to teach at the Kendoka Sasaran that he found his true calling. As many fights as he had encountered in his 200 years of living, none of them brought him a sense of satisfaction, despite his complete love of sparring. When he began teaching other’s how to use weapons, however, that sense of satisfaction found him. In the end, he sees himself defeating a much larger opponent when he teaches, and that is inexperience. The more skill he can impart to his students, the more he sees that they’ll be able to live through an encounter, which in the end means less funerals for his Akalak kin.
Sohryn Nurhahj :
Name: Sohryn Nurhahj Race: Akalak DoB: The 5th of the Summer Season, 341 AV PoB: Riverfall, Cyphrus Region Title: Weapons Instructor at the Kendoka Sasaran Skills: Weapon: Spear 69; Weapon: Javelin 47; Weapon: Bo Staff 45 Additional Info: Sohryn and his other half, Reveric, are two halves of the same coin. Both enjoy teaching, and both enjoy their weaponry. However, where Sohryn will take time with his students and find a great deal (often too much) pride in them, Reveric will waste no time beating them down if comprehension does not immediately come. Sohryn is the dominant half, yet small amounts of stress tend to cause Reveric to stir.
