The website is dedicated to writing and the written word. I wanted to start something that I think could be fun, beneficial and help to inspire! Whether you want to try to make a goal of using the word in one of your threads or just gaining a little knowledge I hope that you can walk away saying that you learned something. If you want to help by submitting a word you think is interesting, fun or that you'd like other people to know please send me a PM and I'll try to make sure to get it up for you! The word of the day doesn't have to be specifically Mizaharian, but the primary focus will be from the world or pertaining to the world of Mizahar.
Word of the Day:

This is the condensed version, please follow the link to get the full definition

Ideas exist in a separate, untouchable world. Possibilities was another world that was also without time and change, arranged to copy Ideas that it came from. However, this world was different in that it had become conscious, it began to see the Ideas that shone brightest upon it.

This ancestral version of Mizahar's universe, commonly called Tawannen, saw there were many mistakes in it's form, and once coming upon the Idea of 'time' attempted to change itself. Time then began to flow. Tawannen became the first God and created many countless dimensions, places, and all manners of creatures. It existence became a paradox as it became obvious that to serve one Idea that another should be ignored.

It recognized the futility, lost its purpose and self-destructed, creating an explosion to rock the universe, generating a first generation of children, specialized gods who were only loyal to their own Ideas. In this way, each of them held a purpose, this purpose unfolded as gaining supremacy over the other Ideas. In this primitive universe, young and inexperienced gods waged the Cosmic War. In the aftermath, most of the first gods further fragmented into smaller deities, defining pantheons that were closer and closer to the current one. NoteI want to start with Origins because it is part of the very foundations of Mizahar. Why not start at the beginning? (Ideas courtesy of the wonderful Treachery and Clyde Sullins)

So I want to continue with the history of Mizahar and play off of the previous word. The word may not have the full description, but it will be linked. Does the word inspire you? Why not step out of the box and see if you can use it in a thread? Could you possibly start a thread with the goal of trying to use the Word of the Day?

Word of the Day:

In Mizahar, an Idea (with a capital I) is the true form of a concept. Ideas have no shape, appearance, consciousness or motives, nor can they interact with each other or the world; they simply are. Ideas reside in a separate world, but make the universe possible by just existing, and everything draws power from them. Mortals can never experience an Idea; being able to see one is the mark of gods, who can gaze upon the Ideas corresponding to their domains and spheres of influence (see World Creation). Gods therefore act as middle men between Ideas and mortals. Gods may also have different perspectives on their Ideas, representing separate aspects of the same concept.

An Idea can never "die", although the gods representing it can be killed and later replaced. However, an Idea can be forever forgotten by the world, which has the same practical effect. Most gods have the elimination of some (or most) Ideas from the world as part of their agenda.

Monster by definition is any creature in Mizahar that is not apart of any race. They either do not form cultures or are utterly incompatible with the races of Mizahar. Monsters are often dangerous and hostile to the people of the land, and they differ greatly in abilities and intelligence. For a time monsters entirely populated Mizahar, until the first Humans arrived. Humans drove the monsters back with the help of the Gods, securing territory. Eventually the importance of monsters had gone from a matter of every day survival to hazards for the unwary traveler that strayed too far from the path.

After the Valterrian, the races plunged back into an era where the monsters were a force to be reckoned with. By this time, the creatures labelled as monsters had changed considerably; only a minority of the creatures from mankind's early days still survived, but many more had evolved or had been created by the meddling of the Gods, and in some cases because of men themselves. The Valterrian generated monsters of its own, and destroyed those that were too weak to live, much like it did with the civilized races.

Word of the Day:

It is the guideline for our world, it is an aid. Fantasy role-playing comes with a lot of stereo types and the founders provided the Creative Manifesto as a way to inspire the people of Mizahar to think 'outside the box'. Don't follow the rules. Use your imagination. Mizahar is a world of it's own, with it's many varied races, flora, fauna, magic, etc. Many, many wonderful and brilliant minds worked hard to provide the environment for You. The Creative Manifesto is a way to say 'Hey, strive to be better, don't be the average joe schmoe.' But It is also a way to say, be respectful of all that hard work, remember that we strive for better, not average, and don't try to bend rules you know shouldn't be broken, it's a courtesy.

With all that being said, Go forth into that fine night! Show us what your imagination can come up with and how beautiful a world Mizahar truly is. (While following rules and being respectful, of course.)

This is the condensed version, please follow the link to get the full definition. Also, bear in mind a lot of this is my general opinion.

Word of the Day:

There are a vast amount of different races within the world of Mizahar. The first race to begin colonizing Mizahar were the Protohumans. Protohumans were stronger and crude in culture. Qalaya's gift then changed the protohumans into what we now know as Humans. Humans are the most common race in Mizahar with the population about 60% of the overall total.

Each race is special and brings their own knowledge and/or talents to the world. They can vary in many different ways, some have the potential to be more dangerous than others, while some enjoy a more peaceful existence. Konti are one of the races that prefer peace, while Myrian can be more vicious and forceful. On the other hand some races have been created, such as Pycons or Kevlics. Each is unique in it's own distinct way, having their own cultures, beliefs and ideology. The blending of these three things with all races is what makes Mizahar unique and unlike any other planet, the ability to sustain so many different races, meeting the individual needs of said races and maintaining a balance of natural order.

Word of the Day:

One definition is of someone who stays in the same form but transcends and alters their spirituality. Another definition is more akin to reincarnation, the rebirth of the soul, spirit or consciousness to a new physical form. The reference of rebirth to Mizahar is more commonly associated with Ethaefal, ethereal beings whose Gods, Leth and Syna, realms were torn during the fight with the Valterrian. The souls that resided there were pulled from their cycle of life and death, their immortal spirit state thrown to the world of Mizahar. They awoke on coasts and shores, this moment being the time of their Rebirth, their bodies made solid and vulnerable to mortal wounds. Coastal dwellers still say that glorious figures can be found rising from the foam and starring longingly at the sky.

Mizaharian Word of the Day!

Word of the Day:

Pride has two different meanings. The first being of a negative sense refering to an inflated sense of one's personal status or accomplishments. Secondly is the positive meaning of a satisfied sense of attachment toward choices and/or actions, is a product of praise, independent self-reflection and a feeling of belonging. Eypharian have reflected both sides of pride. First of being proud of their historical roots and trying to maintain the bloodline to ensure that they bred 6 armed. This pride however turned too strong and they began to divide themselves not only from others but within their own race. They held themselves above all others; Benshira, Chaktewa or Kelvic. Any Eypharian with only 4 arm are below those with 6 but above those with 2, any with 2 was below 4 and 6 armed. It also led the tillable lands of Ahnatep to become dry and barren despite the warnings of those working the lands. While it has had some negative effects there are also some positive effects, this being the second type. This pride bands together the race ensuring survival even through the worst of times. It comes through in their beauty, the way they carry themselves, dress and even maintain themselves. While pride can sometimes be a downfall it can also bring people together in a common sense of purpose.

Word of the Day:

Traits are a distinguishing quality or characteristic in a person. It is a word that helps others to understand better the type of person someone is, most easily obtained through one's actions or reactions in a situation while roleplaying. It helps to show the strengths and weaknesses of a character and is beneficial to show the difference between characters.

It's a good place to start when first trying to determine what kind of character you're wanting to develop. It can also be beneficial to others to have your characters traits listed on your Character Sheet for others to see when they want to interact with your character. Character traits give a unique insight into the core of the character's soul. While writing it is always better to show the character using the trait rather than having them tell everyone that they have that trait, yet not actually showing that trait in character.

Mizaharian Word of the Day!

I apologize for the missing days that I've had. With the holidays it has become rather hectic. I will be officially back now that Christmas has finished. The New Year is coming up this next week but WOTD should continue.

Word of the Day:

There are many different Holidays within Mizahar, although none that are uniform. For some it could be when the Watchtowers change and it signals the end of the season. Others it could be a time when gathered and be with those they care about. It can even be a personal religious holiday that someone recognizes within their faith to their God. There are also some regions that have celebrations at certain times but it's not world spread. The only one that is most common, other than the Watchtowers, is on the 1st of Spring, the signaling of the new year and a fresh beginning. It is the Celebration of the Valterrian, a reminder of sadness and victory. A time to mourn those that were lost and the losses the world suffered but also a time to rejoice in the survival and reemergence of culture after the storms were gone.

So I'm a bit of a liar, I had forgotten I will be out of town for the New Year so WOTD will not be here for Thursday - Sunday, but will resume on Monday! If anyone would like to do the post for the WOTD during that time frame I am open to any interested! Since I had lied about being here for the New Year, I have decided this word is very well suited. Enjoy!

Word of the Day:

A name spoken by few and feared by many. It is a name given to all that is corrupt, twisted, chaotic and evil. It is the name of the God of Evil. He strives to
reign control over all that is opposite of good and pure. Since the beginning there have been lies, betrayal, and corruption throughout Mizahar. Pre-Valterrian he held a moderate amount of power, since then many mortals have turned to him for guidance as none know better the essence of chaos and ruin as the God who rules over it all. Rhysol is despised by every deity within Mizahar, good or evil.
