Basic Information

Race: Myrian
Birthday & Age : 488 early spring, 22 years
Gender: Male

Physical Description
For a Myrian Male, Tum is tall, reaching close to 6’3”. He is also slightly fat-looking, mostly because of his strong arms and fists that look like they might be the hands of a gorilla with human skin on. His legs are big, made to stand still and keep his massive weight from falling rather than running or sneaking through bushes. Tum’s belly is probably the least impressive about him, slightly poking out for having consumed a lot of good food in his years.
He is bald, and only has stubs of dark facial hair. His eyebrows got burnt off in an accident with a campfire that had been coated in a highly flammable poison, but with a little help from the great Myrian artists he got a replacement. While not exactly looking like eyebrows, a line of bone rings are pierced into the place his eyebrows once were.

Character Concept
Like all Myrians, Tum lives for war and fighting. He does not draw towards the hobbies of such interests at a daily basis though. He doesn’t practice with his dagger and bow as often as any other Myrian would. His clan, The Boiling Pot, is known for crafting animals into wondrous meals for the Myrian tongue, and is often more centered on that craft and feasts for the gods. Where the average Myrian would practice poisons, he practices spice. Where any other Myrian practices the sword and fistfight, he practices fire starting and beating meat soft with his fists.
Because Myrians do not have many tools fit for cooking, his clan has learned to use the body for many of the purposes tools has for humans. With a low budget beeing such a small clan hardly competing in the hunt, they couldn't afford buying professional gear. If meat is too big to be cooked as it is, they rip it apart with their bare hands, digging their fingers into the soft meat and using their little knowledge on how meat is built up to tear it into fine stripes of meat.
But this does not mean Tum does not know how to handle a weapon. Like any other child, he went through the basic training in poisoning, trapping, hunting and killing that any Myrian goes through. If he is invited to a hunt, which does happen from time to time, he will not pass up the opportunity. If a war was to come, he wouldn’t desert. If he was to come into a fight, he would gladly knock the life out of any person crossing his path. For all his days of knocking meat tender, ripping it to pieces and working with fireplaces, he might very well be among the most powerful in his age. What he lacks is the expertise, and the lust of killing. He is a peaceful person, and would not start an argument if it can be avoided. Therefore he does not practice with swords either, fearing he might hurt someone.

Character History
Tum has been practicing the art of cooking since he got out of adolescence, such as the tradition in the tiny clan of The Boiling Pot is. The men in this clan usually practice treating meat and other rough substances that require strength while the women keep to the finer work of herb-gathering and producing tea and spice. Nevertheless, Tum has tried to get the attention of many women, wanting someone to pick him for reproduction. With the busy lives of Myrians, the best way to get a womans attention was to train in the same practices as them. That is his excuse for occasionally being spotted among the women, chatting with them while trying to seem proficient in what they were doing. While his chase after women bare little fruit, he did pick up a little knowledge on herbalism, which he learned to combine with his cooking.

But women is not the only thing Tum wants. In Taloba, and pretty much any part of the rain forest, certain beings are strictly forbidden and should be killed on sight. Some of these, like the Nuit and the snake-people, made sense to be forbidden, as he was disgusted just by thinking about them. But there was one race, the Charodae, which puzzled him. While he understood that the Charodae was banned because they went against the principles of war and hunting, he thought killing them on sight would be over-reacting. They seemed like interesting creatures, living under water and actually not eating meat.

Tum had no actual plans for what he would do if he actually met one, but at some point he just packed up his things and decided he wanted to tear himself out of the cycle of work and training. He had seen travelers in the outskirts of the forest, using big wooden houses for traveling over the ocean. This had given him ideas about getting a ship like that and go looking for the Charodae. He did not know how they looked, but how hard could it be? They spoke, and they were under water. If he found a creature with fins or tentacles or something like that, and it spoke in some language, then it would probably be a Charoda. With this vague plan, he disappeared from his home one early morning, bringing his belongings with him, and made for the coast, at a place he had seen ships anchoring before. While he did not find ships exactly there, walking along the coast he eventually came across a band of traders. They were suspicious of his looks at first, which he found saddening, but he convinced them of slipping him in among the crew in exchange for some of the exotic food he carried with him. Having a flavor that seemed acceptable for the few who dared taste the gift of a savage warmonger, they let him join for the next city as long as he did some work on the ship along the way. There was one more condition though. Clearly being a Myrian, they wanted him to wear a cloth mask that hid most of his face, as well as keeping his cloak on. The cloak made him useless in a lot of the work that was to be done on the ship, but he found himself comfortable with the control of ropes on the ship, tying knots and changing the position of the sail. When the ship needed repairs, he was the one to deal with it. His muscles were massive and he seemed comfortable with work on his hands, so no-one saw a problem with having him do the heavy work.

Eventually they reached a big city they called Riverfall. The crew, assuming he might very well be enslaved or killed because he was but a savage, laughed at him and said he should keep the mask on if he wanted to keep his life. A savage that had proved he knew better than attacking and eating the crew he sailed with, but still a savage. His language was limited, and his body looked like nothing but raw power mashed together with some additional fat. And he didn't look like normal people either. His skin was too dark, probably tainted by the sins he carried with him. How could he possibly survive among Akalak?
