Garland nodded in thanks to Elann. She was really too kind for her own good. His two kids were snuggly tucked inside the cradleboard and were asleep quite soundly.
He took the toys and the clothes Elann had brought him, and placed the things he got into his basket. He hated leaving, it was nice and warm and a perfect place to spend the night, but he needed to get back home.
He walked out the door and into the cold street. The snow was already falling quite heavily. He walked fast through the snow, there were still a few people milling about in the cold, but they all looked like they were heading home or to find shelter.
Garland needed to move fast, he took large strides in the snow, leaving footprints as he walked, he didn't dare run unless he wanted to wake the babies or worse, have them fall out of the cradleboard.
Eventually he made it inside the Stormhold proper, it was some relief to be inside again, but still it was cold, even with the wind stopped by the hard stone walls of the citadel.
Fortunately the twins were still asleep, enjoying the new clothes and the fur that was tucked inside their cradleboards. He found a lit brazier, blazing away, trying to keep the cold at bay. Garland decided to get a bit more warm before heading off.
After warming up his hands and the twins, he was ready to head off. He had a little while to go and then up through the third tier of the city. He was currently taking shelter right outside the Bazaar. He didn't have much left to go, but he wanted to get there as quickly as possible, so he could put the twins in their new cribs.
He was hoping the crib was there already, but he would understand if it wasn't, he would be disappointed but he would understand. The winter season is a busy time for some.
When he finally reached home, he saw that Aventis' bed had been moved a little bit off to the side and there was a new crib close by. He smiled and saw that there were a few other things in a basket on his bed. He gently took off the cradleboard and placed the two sleeping babies in the crib.
He kissed the two on the head and went off to put a few of the things he brought away in their proper place.
