The idea of a NPC is very alluring. It would create some interesting dynamic and alternative plots to be explored, but I have one thing keeping me from developing my idea. The fact that they start with only 30 skill points in understandable, but are they restricted to those for the entirety of their use?
Say an NPC has 10 Hunting, 10 Wilderness Survival, 5 Unarmed Combat, and 5 Intimidation. 200 posts later, are they still as weak as when they were created? Can they earn experience and learn new skills, or are they static?
If a NPC and PC train together diligently, would the PC be continuously growing while their companion falls behind and ultimately becomes useless baggage? It would be unrealistic to go on an adventure with an NPC who has meager starting stats while the player's character is competent and master in several useful skills necessary to the trials.
They would just be godmodding with that NPC.
