Spirit's Solace

Business Type: Service

Services Offered: Spirit's Solace offers spiritism services to living customers who wish to have a ghost managed or removed, in addition to any other requests of a ghostly nature that Levi may receive from customers that are not necessarily mere removal . The price for these services on average will be around 10 kina but will vary depending on the nature and strength of the ghost or ghosts along with the circumstances of the request. In addition to services to the living, Spirit's Solace will offer special spiritism services to any ghosts that come to the shop, ranging from giving them soulmist to helping them resolve the reason for which they remain as ghosts. The prices for these services will also vary from case to case but will be around 10 kina or an equivalent form of payment from the ghost, in the form of a favour or service rendered in return.

Base Income: World Mage (Spiritist) 7 kina/day
Among the world magic disciplines, spiritism is very low cost in terms of ingredients required and its products/effects are not as outright spectacular or powerful in comparison to the other disciplines such as magecraft or even alchemy. This makes it one of the lowest paying disciplines among the world magics.

Skill Bonus: Competent Spiritism 3 kina/day

Sale's Bonus: -2 kina/day
The Shinya are the most likely to respond to the news of any troublemaking spirits and are capable of dealing with them, but more elusive ghosts can only be tracked down by a spiritist; tracking down a ghost is among the range of services Spirit's Solace offers. Additionally, Levi will take any special requests from costumers who come to this shop, living and dead even if it is not a simple ghost removal job. However, he will be in competition with the already existing spiritism shop Den of the Lost and will be at a disadvantage due to the Den's owner being an Expert level spiritist. This results in a lower than expected profit until Levi either attains a skill level in spiritism equal to or greater than Rostam or have the name of the shop advertised.

Total Income: 8 kina/day

Assets:
Office (Elaborate): 1500 kina
Storage (Simple): 250 kina
10 glass jars (8 oz) : 5 kina
5 pendant vials, 2 oz: 10 kina
5 lbs of barley flour, 5 lbs of cheese (common), and 5 dozen eggs as ingredients for soulmist
(1 season's worth, will replenish every season): 8 kina
14 feet of ghostbeads in two sets of 7 feet: 140 kina
5 drapes of white common fabric and 5 drapes of black common fabric (3 yards each): 13 kina
3 daggers: 6 kina

Debt: 1932 kina owed to the Cosmos Centre. Must be repaid in 3 seasons.

I'm giving this plan an approval. The plan itself looks solid enough however, as you state, there is already some existing competition. You may indeed end up with a negative sales modifier of up to 25% due to there already being a similar operation in the city and the need for mages of any sort is overall not all that high in most cities. I would suggest to the approving storyteller that the final income be no more than 8 gm / day until your character discovers a way to make them stand out from the competition. Once that happens, the negative multiplier could be lifted and maybe even granted a bonus.

Disclaimer: This approval is for the plan itself and does not include any NPCs and does not act as an approval for the business location within a city. Such things are up to the Help Desk and attending Storyteller respectively.
