Syri Morphgaze Terras
______________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________
Race: Isur
Gender: Female
Age: 47
Birthday: 79th of Summer 468
Birthplace: Sultros
Appearance:
A creature of five feet in height, Syri can be seen as shorter than most other races. Still, her body is naturally visibly toned and very dense. Her skin has a bluish tint to it, and the veins of her blood manifest in silver veins that are captivating to look at. With good posture, she stands proudly and perhaps arrogantly to most others. Syri rarely does anything with her bluish-black hair save for trimming it so it does not mess with her work, never allowing it to reach her shoulders. It is often left in a straight cut, finely brushed, that denotes sharpness and intelligence over attraction or power.
Syri has light green eyes with a forward brow crowned by the smear of her eyebrows. Upon her forehead is the raised ridge that most Isur have that appears bumpy and ribbed. Her nails on each finger and toe are always trimmed short, but the nails on her Isurian arm are much longer because they are leagues more difficult to trim. Her body is evenly proportioned, but her breasts are of a small size compared to women her age.
Her right arm is a special one, an Isurian arm. The entire arm, up to the shoulder, is glossy and smooth like polished purple granite, accented with silvery veins.
Character Concept
Much like the rest of her family circle, Syri is an agent of change. She views the world as malleable and never truly finished, and as such perfection is impossible. Upon others who are insignificant, she wishes significance. Upon unworked steel and untapped arcana, she wishes creation fueled by the mind, body, and soul. These views have made the Morphgaze family talented teachers and Alchemists that even members of the Pitrius clan show respect for.
A wild thinker, the Isur is always piecing apart problems to find solutions and thinking about ways she can improve her arts or herself. Her own philosophies change as new concepts become more favorable and few can truly understand her nature because it is an unstable one that tosses aside tradition and narrow thinking. This aspect of her drives her to learn and discover, because she feels the need for change in her perceptions to achieve mastery over her mind, body, and soul.
In terms of ethics, Syri values life and sees races other than the Isur as simply unenlightened or of a different path than hers. As most Isur do, she sees herself as superior to humans due to her godly gifts of strength and creation but is willing to concede that knowledge and practice may outweigh the benefits her race imparts. Syri will warm up easier to humans that possess extraordinary talents. She sees combat as sporting, and doesn't shy from the concept of improving herself physically although she does not prioritize it.
Still, Syri is outwardly cheery and sometimes extroverted, but calculative. A Pitrius father has given her an eye for intrigue, and she recognizes the value of deception and politicking and may resort to such things to achieve her goals if there is no easier solution. She does not enjoy interpersonal arts compared to the earth, arcana, and the forge, but she views it as an advantage that can be gleaned in pursuit of these things.
Attachments with her are more about trust and change than true friendship. In this way, she does not form strong bonds with others. If they can get past this, there may be many benefits of working with her. To Syri, death is a natural change in state from life to no longer living but she does see the value in messing with the natural order of things. She will not be particularly mournful if someone dies, but she will pay them respects, especially if they are Isur themselves.
Growing up in Sultros has left her with a taste for Isurian art and cuisine, but she is open to trying new things and at least attempting to understand culture. Still, she will not always adhere to it if the consequences for doing so are negligible. What will perhaps never change is her devout faith in Izurdin and Semele, but she is open to faith in other gods and goddesses as well if they can stand the risk in investing in her.
Character History
As a child, Syri was apprenticed to her father Myrkion whom was an experienced Magecrafter, Summoner, and Auristics mage for the Pitrius clan. She would tag along and learn the arts under his watchful tutelage, and with that Isur her bond is strong due to the many years she spent holed up in his workshop and debating many subjects with him, including the old language of Nader Canoch.
From her mother, she learned to change her ideas and believe that nothing, not even the laws of existence were absolute. She was taught the family way, that fulfillment could be achieved through the change of anything to anything else. Even still, Syri's mother was a Maledicter with a fringe faith in Semele and an acute appreciation for aesthetics, and from her Syri learned some of these things.
When faced with the choice of attempting to become an initiate to the Silver Tower, she decided against it and instead set her sights outward to learn what knowledge existed in the world outside Sultros and beyond the Unforgiving mountains. She decided that she would learn what she could outside of her own secluded society and later in life bring back her contributions to the Silver Tower in greater force. Still considered young by her family, Syri set out with Isurian merchants to Alvadas, with whom she practiced the Common language that outsiders spoke.
When Syri saw her very first human, she was bewildered. Their exuberance and attitude overwhelmed her, and it was a surprise to see such a fragile race behave in this manner. Still, she persisted in understanding them and began to learn of Lhavit before settling down into her work and studies.
