Day 12 of Spring 516AV
Brandon sat quietly on a bench near the Sundial, staring at the stars overhead, as well as Leth's ever watchful gaze. The large triangle-like landmark was rendered completely useless during nightfall, and just like just about everything depending on Syna's warm rays, the flowers were closed, their petals folded up in retirement. Well, this place was a location dedicated to the Sun goddess after all, it'd be strange if the flowers remained open at night. Likewise, there were no priestesses of Syna present, and the offerings on the shrine dated from the daylight bells. Some people would perhaps want to leave something to the Goddess by night too, but the citizens of Lhavit did not want to be rude to Leth, who was equally deserving of their appreciation and gratefulness. Even when touched by Leth's light the Sundial Circle was a beautiful location, the lack of sunlight not diminishing it at all. It changed it, just like it did to the rest of Lhavit, but it wasn't a bad thing per se. It was different, yes, but not less spectacular. The Skyglass made sure of that.
The bat sighed then, casting his gaze back to the heavens, a small blanket of stars between little open space the locations around it created. One in particular grabbed the thief's attention for a while; Koten Temple. Strange things were happening there, if rumors were to be believed. Well, “believed”. No one ever deemed rumors one hundred percent true; they were always taken with a grain of salt, and so too did the bat approach this series of recent mouth-to-mouth journalism. Yes, people had been evacuated from the Temple, and entry had been banned, but that did not mean what the rumors described had happened was to be believed. Besides, there were multiple people who told the same story, only what had transpired was drastically different. Of course that kind of nonsense was exactly that: nonsensical gossip thought up by bored housewives' imagination running wild.
A snort escaped him at the image of it, and then he frowned, picturing how that same kind of people had turned the cogs of the rumor-mill when it came to Dru too. Bah. He got up from his spot on the Skyglass bench, shivering momentarily at the lack of warm crystal, and then he bent backwards -not as far as he could, but just a bit- feeling his vertebrae crackle from the long period of time he'd spent in a slumped position on the bench. He rolled his shoulder a couple times then too, though they moved without a sound. Once done with it, the bat moved to the nearest square, feeling he wanted to see more than one little patch of night sky.
Indeed, as expected, the square had a larger view on the heavens and the stars, but also on the other peaks. One building from Shinyama could easily be seen from the thief's current position; the Twuele. It would be an excellent place to stage a break-in as Incognito; it was an important building, with important people living and working there, and it was well protected by the Shinya. A stronghold of some kind, one worth infiltrating. If Incognito managed to sneak in and out unnoticed, leaving his calling card behind, no doubt it would cause an uproar amongst the Constellations and the Shinya, and eventually amongst the citizens too. Yes, it would make rumors soar, and his name would once more be engraved in their minds. Lhavit would be on its toes.
Better yet, if he managed to place his card in the chamber of Zintila herself...! Lhavit would be on its head, turned upside down, and Brandon would be on number one on the Shinya's list of priorities. However, it meant risking a whole lot, and he'd only been here for a season. He'd rather stay a while longer, and not in jail, nor as a spirit. Attempting what he'd just thought up would mean crossing an Alvina, a being vastly more powerful than he was, and he doubted Dira would come to his aid. Yshul might, but the bat suspected he'd have to succeed first. But, did that matter at all? Even if he could pull it off, would he not be tracked down by the most capable of Shinya and investigators? Perhaps even all three towers would be joining the search. Lhavit would become a danger zone for him, and larceny would become that many times harder. A challenge, indeed, but perhaps a one-sided game of hide-and-seek he couldn't win. It would require a huge amount of preparation to get in and out, and another equally huge or even larger amount so he did not get caught during, before, or after he'd completed the job.
He stared for a bit, thinking, and then someone walked into him, causing him to snap back into the present. Brandon glanced at the woman with slightly narrowed eyes, irritated he'd been pulled from his thoughts. With knitted brow, the bat sauntered to the nearest bench, mind working hard to come up with problems and solutions for them, along with possible scenarios. Absentmindedly, he sat down on the warm crystal, leaning back and staring at the Twuele, however not processing what he saw.
