Nisana Curare Basic Information Race: Symenestra Birthday & Age : Fall 33rd, 486, 26 Gender: Female Physical Description Nisana stands at a regal 6’ 2”, and weighing in at 132 she has a slim, but full figure. Like all of her race, her skin is ashen and pale, which is sharply contrasted by her amethyst eyes and black hair that falls just past her shoulders. She rarely puts her hair in a particular style, letting it fall as it will, but she will keep it clean and well groomed. Nisana’s black fingernails are long and sharpened, like most Symenestra, but those on her right are shorter, about half an inch long, so as to not cause much interference with her archery. Her pride and agility show in the way she carries herself and moves about, and much of her actions display a hint of her predatory nature. Character Concept Nisana is, first and foremost, a creature of pride. She is proud of her heritage, not just of being a Symenestra, but also of her heritage and bloodline. This naturally leads to her having much pride in herself and her abilities. She isn’t ignorant in this pride, and knows she has much work to do to improve her abilities, but she will rarely admit to ignorance or mistakes, especially to someone who is not Symenestra. Second to her pride is her belief in Viratas, and this tempers her disdain for the other races of Mizahar somewhat. While she views them as beneath the Symenestra she at least has some respect for their status as sentient life. She will not insult someone for what they are, but is quick to dismiss members of other races for their failings and shortcomings. Character History Nisana was born to Valvessa Curare, a notable warrior among the Symenestra who led many harvests. Being first born among three children, Nisana’s mother taught her from a young age the skills that would make her great. Archery, hunting, persuasion, and agility were the hallmarks of Valvessa, and so they became the ground work that Nisana started upon. Around Nisana's 4th year her Web became an unpleasant place for a while. Nisana didn't understand all that was going on, but she knew her Mother was not around much, and her Father was at turns sad and angry. Over the space of a couple years things calmed down, but from that point on there remained a feeling of tenseness and frailty to her Web. During her 13th year Nisana proved her skill as a hunter by leaving Kalinor alone and returning with a kill, and as a reward her Mother granted her a Short Bow. It is a black painted bow with, “Spilt blood cries out to me. It speaks of life and death. It sings of sins and blessings. Every drop is precious, but not all cries are holy,” carved along its length and traced in red. This had been the same Short Bow that Valvessa had been gifted by her Mother, and so it was passed on to Nisana. It was also around this time that Nisana started to hear rumors about what had caused the unrest in her Web. Kalinor crawled with the whispers that Valvessa had given a birth to a half-breed. Nisana confronted her parents with the rumors, but both denied it. Leaving it at that Nisana put the rumors to rest in her mind and continued on her life of training and preparation for the time she would go her first harvest. Shortly before Nisana's 24th year started her Mother's second daughter, Serena, declared that she had found a mate and wished for a surrogate mother. Proudly Nisana took up her traditional role as eldest child, and with well wishes from her Web she set out into the world on her first Harvest. Riverfall was Nisana's first major stop on her Harvest, having been unwilling to spend longer in Alvadas than needed, and her time there proved to be an interesting experience. No sooner had she walked into the city than she met and conversed with her illegitiment half-blood sister, Iredeth. Though the this encounter shook Nisana's faith in her Mother, it did not disrupt her determination to do her duty and complete her harvest. Questioning Valvessa about her lies and betrayal of the sacred blood of a child could wait until after she returned. Unfortunately, Riverfall was not the best place for the huntress to attempt to find a surrogate. She became the target of several Akalak's pursuits, injured herself while hunting a boar, "earned" the companionship of a feline Kelvic named Macka, and eventually had to flee the city after a failed attempt to "free" a Nakivak with a pair of fellow Symanestra. She managed to leave the city, via boat headed towards Alvadas, without injury, but her pride was not so lucky. Though her confidence was shaken Nisana continued her hunt for a surrogate in the city of illusions, Alvadas, but her luck did not turn around much. She struggled in adjusting to the ever changing nature of the city, and several times she fell prey to illusions and tricks. There were even a couple times she thought she had found a surrogate, but later found she had been deceived. Finally, in the Summer of 512 AV, Nisana found a suitable surrogate for her sister. A beautiful Vantha woman, named Ilmara, was not only willing to accompany Nisana back to Kalinor, but seemed very eager. Eager to be on her way home, the two soon left Alvadas and began the treacherous struggle through the Unforgiving. Nisana's brief luck quickly turned during this journey, as while they were traveling was when the Djed Storm struck the area. Beaten and battered by the winds, rocks, and other strange things flying about the ridge Nisana and Ilmara had been crossing the two were seperated, and Nisana just managed to find shelter in a small cave before passing out. After the storm passed, Nisana opened her eyes to find Ilmara in the cave as well, apparently completely unharmed. Surprised, but relieved, Nisana prepared to continue the journey to Kalinor. It was not a bell after she had left the cave that Nisana noticed something was strange about Ilmara. The woman had been friendly and pleasant before, but now she made snide and biting remarks with every breath. Ilmara also seemed to have learned about Nisana's past, often bringing up things she had no way of knowing. When Nisana finally snapped and turned to frighten the Vantha into silence, she instead found herself completely alone. After some searching Nisana found Ilmara's mangled and lifeless body, and over the next season she came to learn that something had happened to her. She would see and hear people and things, both familiar and strange, that were not truly there. These hallucinations would act as varied as they appeared, tormenting, taunting, threatening, or even encouraging at times. Distracted and disoriented by these figments, Nisana has clung to the things she knows are real. She relies heavily on touch when interacting with others, and she has resumed her Harvest once more. She is determined to hide her struggles from others, and to finally return to her beloved home of Kalinor with a surrogate for Serena. |
