When Savacea had entered the gates of Kenash, she was welcomed with a surprise. The city was a mess, chaos reigned it's head as slaves were removing debris and cleaning up large pools of blood. The most shocking sight however, was the bodies that were hanging, swinging two and fro from tree limbs. The streets were tainted with the overwhelming aroma of death and fear. Savacea wished this had bothered her, that it somehow shook her to her bones. However, it all made her that more curious of the new city.
She stayed at the Travelers complex, resting after her journey. On the third day of spring when the cleanup was complete she had went out and finally found a job at Lucre Pavilleon with Anessa Radacke. The details of the job were kept a secret but it was the perfect job for Savacea. She would pose as a waitress in the Casino, however she would poison targets specifically chosen by Anessa, and she would poison them. The set up was nice, she was able to continue learning her Poisoncrafting, while Anessa plotted to get ahead.
Today was the day she had to head out to the Ghalash Swamp that surrounded Kenash and the plantations, to search for plants that she needed in order to produce the poisons to use for Anessa. Savacea missed Tokia and working at her shop in Black Rock, but she would make a way for herself now in Kenash. At least she had a portable kit to make poison's, that would make the job a little easier, at least she hoped.
Leaving the crushed shell paths and entering the more dense swamp area did not affect Savacea. It reminded her of the Black Marsh, except there was no wailing of tormented ghosts out in this Swamp area. Long willows graced the swamp, it's long limbs swaying in the wind, as lichen hung to it's limbs making it appear wraithlike. She had chose to not wear her sandals today, as they would only hinder her out in the miry area.
Her feet sunk into the ground, leaving foot prints filled with water, as she traversed inside. Instead of wails of the spirits, she heard the buzzing of many insects huddling together in great clouds. Different types of fauna could be heard in the background, adding to the buzzing noises of the gnats and mosquitos. She swatted her hand in front of her face, dispersing a particular thick cloud of gnats as she continued into the marsh like land. Spring here in Kenash was not that cool, instead it was warm, and a fine mist had begun to settle over the swamp as sporadic rains would come then go.
Spotting the plant she was looking for, Savacea rushed forward, observing it before she harvested it. It was taller then she was, standing at 6 feet tall. Small white and green flowers adorned the plant, forming a circle that bowed downwards slightly. The flowers appeared to be 3 inches wide, with five petals and five stamens. The leaves were lance-shaped, pointed with numerous teeth growing in a haphazard manner on the leaf stem, having a blood-red tinge to the leaves.
The stem of the plant was mottled with greens and purples. This appeared to be the plant, Water Hemlock, that she was searching for. Taking off her portable kit, she opened it reaching inside for a pair of leather gloves. Placing the gloves on her hands she reached out and snapped open a stem. The stem was hollow, secreting a milky juice from being snapped. Confirming that it was definitely the Hemlock.
Digging her leather gloves into the moist ground, she uprooted a stalk of the Hemlock. The tuberous root was thick with root-stocks, taking out a knife from the kit, Savacea cut one of the root-stocks. It was multichambered and contained a yellow oil like liquid that turned a red-brown once it hit the air. The aroma it emitted reminded her of raw parsnip or slightly rotted carrots. Grabbing a vial from her kit, she sliced open another root-stocks, placing the vial underneath to capture the liquid of the hemlock. She sliced another root-stock and filled the vial of the oil like liquid.
Corking the vial she returned it to the kit for now. Taking her gloves off she produced her waterskin and splashed her gloves with water, rinsing off any of the juices that were on them. Once cleaned she placed them back in her kit, then dug the knife into the ground away from the plants, cleansing it with the moist ground and wiping the mud on some dry grass, she placed it back in the kit as well. Slinging the kit back on her shoulders, she was ready for her first night of poisoning someone at the Casino.
