When Sayana had first spotted the sly dhani in the Wolf’s Cave, she had been so surprised that she had ducked behind a corner until he had disappeared from sight. Truthfully, she was still recovering from the battle against the undead and she wasn’t sure exactly where she stood with the zith or the other residents of the more carnal inn. At times her mind was playing tricks on her as she itched to use more magic, possess more control, gain more power, and… Breathe. Keep it together Sayana.
She found herself anxiously drumming her fingers against the table she was sitting at. But despite the unsettling effects of the hypnotism, she wanted something new, something strong and she was owed a favour by a certain dhani. She had plans to leave Alvadas rather soon and the snake hadn’t yet held up his end of the bargain. And so she sat in the common room of the Wolf’s Cave, not quite within plain sight but still with a good vantage point of the hallway and stairs that led to the rooms. She wore her black robe with the hood up and was half hidden by a pair of rambunctious kelvics. She had a cheap drink in one hand, mostly to keep up the guise than something she actually cared to sip.
There was a movement from the hallway and she chanced a quick dart of her eyes. No, it wasn’t him. The large wings gave away the creature. But then… She suddenly caught sight of the tangled mess of hair. Light hair. Sayana counted one, two, three ticks before rising from her seat. The snake was good at avoiding attention and she nearly lost his trail right then and there. But then a door shut and she darted after him quickly, yet keeping her footsteps light and nimble.
She followed him for a time, every so often catching a glimpse of his hair or his clothing. She also avoided attention by mingling with the crowds when she was able, or sticking to shadows and street corners when there weren’t many people. The spun fabric which littered the city streets was a little unnerving, however it also provided many more places to hide even with its brightness.
When they had reached a more secluded area of the city, Sayana at last spoke up and was clearly audible to the dhani. “Sssomone owess me a favour. I do not make bargainsss lightly.”
She quirked her head at the sight of Reysin and waited for him to turn around and acknowledge her. Then she paused and struggled to remember the two words he had taught her over a season ago. “Hello handsome…” She hissed softly with a slight smile spread across her lips.
