Buried in the dense jungle just north of Syka and just west of the Pavena World Gate are a series of mysterious mounds. The most obvious odd thing about them is the fact that while they are wholly surrounded by dense jungle, the mounds themselves are just covered with what appears to be a thick layer of soil and ash in which nothing besides a sickly sort of moss grows. Plants on the fringe of the huge clearing tend to be stunted and thin. It takes several strides into the jungle before one would reach healthy normal vegetative growth.
The mounds themselves number around a dozen and are easily larger than most buildings. They are climbable, but it does take a bit of work to scale them due to their height. Unlike the rest of the jungle of The Maw, there are no animal pathways on or around the mounds. There is a sort of odd feeling about the mounds that may likely cause the hair on one's arm to stand on end when standing close.
The mounds are around a bells or two's trek out of Syka proper. Interestingly enough it is ringed with banana trees. If the ground was flat and unhindered by vegetation, the trip would be significantly shorter - a few chimes - from where humans have started habituating.
