Nemori wandered through the snow. It was not a particularly cold day but her cloak was still firmly wrapped around her. Her backpack and spear rattled against each other on her back. Occasionally she had to stop and readjust her belongings to prevent it digging uncomfortably into her back. Luckily the journey was only a short trip. It did not take her too long to reach her destination because of this. A small copse of trees decorated the large lake that she approached. The water rippled softly with the warped images of snow and trees beautifully reflected. For a while Nemori stood on the side of the water, her dark blue eyes watching the images dance. The water was mostly clear and she could see the rocks at the bottom in some places. The water in this lake rarely seemed to freeze over despite the prevalence of snow and Nemori often wondered the caused this. A few fish were swimming below the surface and Nemori watched them. They were ignoring her, or perhaps they had not noticed her. After a while she stepped back from the edge of the water and started to undo the buttons on her coat. She placed it down on the ground, outside against the snow. Her spear and backpack were placed nearby. Next she started to strip the remaining layers of clothing, placing them on top of the coat. Her boots were the last to be properly removed and she flinched slightly as her toes touched the cold snow. Quickly she moved towards the water. She flinched more as she lowered herself into the water, the cold etching its way into her bones. She fought back a shiver as she moved deeper into the water. Each step was slow and clumsy, her limbs unused to the pressures of the water around her. It lapped around her shoulders when she stopped. As she moved she watched the rocks underneath, taking care not to miss any of them or slip against them. She occasionally glanced back at her belongings, checking that they were still safe. She had deliberately left her belongings in plain sight but that was not difficult in the flat wasteland, nearly everything was always in view. After she had started to get used to the feeling of cold water she held her breathe and ducked her head underwater. Her hair sprayed out around her, black strands dancing against the clear water. As she surfaced some of her hair cling to her skin and the rest swayed around her in the waters. She started to rub at her skin, allowing the grime from the day to dissolve into the lake. It took her some time to completely clean herself. The fish she had seen earlier were keeping away from the stranger in their waters but she was not paying them any attention.
After she had finished bathing she remained in the water for a while. Her limbs were slowly getting used to the feel of water around her and her flailing became less hectic whenever she attempted to move. She watched the fishes swimming for a bit in the distance. She considered some of the bigger fish, their scales shimmering against the water as they delicately flicked their fins through the water. Their movements were graceful and hers were uncoordinated and clumsy.
