Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

Outside the Wolf's Cave

What an evening she'd had last night. After being spat into the city, she had been fortunate enough to see the sign for the Sanity Center, and more fortunate to have just caught the door before it closed for the night. Having enquired within about somewhere to sleep for the night, she had been told the Wolf's Cave, or the Cubacious Inn... the former had sounded more interesting and so she'd spent far more time than she would have originally liked going backwards and forwards through what looked like the exact same street until she found the entrance to the Wolf's Cave. Inside, she had tumbled into the first bed offered, and immediately fallen asleep, more tired than she cared to admit and still wearing her human form.

Fortunately, she'd woken as early as she could, after a very decent night's sleep. She freshened up with the basin of water provided, and left the cave for the wild illusions of Alvadas. The day was dark still, far colder than she appreciated, but nonetheless she grinned, stretched and yawned before walking out into the world. The cramped conditions of the Luiana were quickly forgotten as the sun started to very steadily rise above the walls of the city. And it was a beautiful one too, so many buildings of different styles and colours, some painted, others built like miniature castles or designed in strange shapes. And there were illusions too, or that's what they must be. A trio of miniature, turquoise wolves playfully nipping at her feet as she walked past, causing her to yelp and jump. A man with two faces, one back, one front, who winked at her as she walked past. A child waving streamers that smelt of cherries, charcoal, chocolate...

It truly was a place of wonder, and she loved it already. Her skin felt electric, her brown eyes wide with excitement as she watched the world go by, even as she walked along streets she was sure she'd seen only moments before. She could probably have spent an entire day walking through the city without doing anything else, but as the day became morning properly the first shop she'd seen came into view.

It was a small building with a flat roof. Through it's tiny windows, the dull glint of gold and silver beckoned. With a curious smile (for what were the shops in Alvadas going to be like?), the woman stepped through the door.

OOCSo, if anyone wants to join, I intend to use each post for a location, before moving onto the next. That might change though, depending on how I feel. xD Anyone's welcome to pop in!

Wide-Eyed Wonder Wandering

Postby Kahll on September 11th, 2016, 2:32 pm

It was rare for Kahll to get the morning off. Even when it happened, he most often used it to rest up for what would prove to be a difficult day. Something was usually out of the ordinary at Kitrean for him to get time off so early in the day. This time it was a good thing – they were receiving a large shipment of some sort. The forge work would be slower, so less forges worked all at once, and that meant Kahll did not have to stick around and keep everything smooth. He understood and appreciated the chance to distract himself. Lately it had been a busy streak, almost as if the season change itself waited around the corner to pounce on him. The Isur kept him plenty occupied, for such skilled artisans, they worked to the point where they sometimes forgot the fragile nature of anything not related to their race and craft. Most of equipment related accidents came from that. Someone with a greater grasp of gadgeteering might have been able to construct his machinery in a manner that would allow more leeway for the tired smiths, but Kahll was not there yet. Unluckily for them, he was the best they had at that point.

His arm still ached from one of Master Haolven's gestures of appreciation. The blacksmith patted his shoulder with such force that Kahll could have sworn he heard the petching thing fall out of its socket. It was often like that when one was accustomed to working around Isur. They were good people, but could have really used a lighter hand in moments of excitement. Kahll doubted anyone ever saw this side to them out in the front of the shop, but in the back, with their hands in the fires, they were almost human.

This day would birth a long awaited plan – he would go to The Stallion's Rear and get some wine into his belly. It had been a long time since he could relax like this. Somewhere else, drinking during the day would have been a bad thing. In Alvadas, time did not mean much. He traced his steps carefully, allowing the city to guide him. He knew where he wanted to go, and given enough time, Alvadas would provide a way. All along the way, he kept seeing tiny clay men that seemed intent on reaching nowhere in particular. It was a remarkable sight. Living here sometimes really had its benefits. His lack of attention made the trip longer than necessary. Still, he was guided to a door soon enough. Raising his head, he confirmed the Rear for what it was before reaching for the doorknob. His lack of attention disappeared as the door shifted when his hand met it. He did not dwell on the thought much, for this was Alvadas. Hence his mistake – as soon as he opened the door and stepped inside, he knew where he was.

Luckily, Matilda seemed to have another victim lined up before Kahll could ever become relevant, but before his thought was over, he could hear her voice. It was too late to attempt leaving without offending her. “Hello there, my boy, I’ll be with you shortly!” Kahll thought about moving through the door while he still stood close to it, but as if reading his mind, she moved much too quickly and stood beside him, all in an instant. “Oh, Matilda, don’t you look stunning today. M’alla absolutely adored the bracelet. Perhaps you could help me find something like that again. Once you finish up, of course.” The woman nodded, but still pulled at his sleeve as she led him further into the shop and towards the stranger. Kahll’s mouth tried to form the word ‘RUN’, but he knew not if he had been successful.

Wide-Eyed Wonder Wandering

"Speech"

The inside of the shop was rather packed, to say the least. It seemed almost from floor to ceiling that the place was covered in baubles, trinkets of sugar-gold and the tacky glint of gems, glass or otherwise. It wasn't really Ssanya's thing, but she gave the products a cursory glance over to see if she could spot any jewellery that was more her style. A bone necklace, or something. But no, nothing.

She was about to hastily make her exit, but she was stopped by a forcefully exuberant woman.
"Come in, come in dear! Are you looking for anything in particular, a necklace for a loved one perhaps, or something for yourself? Perhaps you'd be interested in this beautiful gold ring, set with real diamonds!"
Oh gods. The woman frowned slightly, a confused smile twitching on her lips.
"Uh... no thanksss..."

Yet her words, and her protestations, were drowned out by the woman's sales pitch. If she had disliked the shop before, she was positively sure she'd never come here again after this. She wasn't much a fan of vapid, pushy people. Yet thankfully, or not so, their one-sided conversation was broken by the tinkling of the door, pushed open by a tall-ish man with dark-ish hair.

Just catching a glimpse of the man's mouthed message was enough to make her sigh. Great, apparently this woman shopkeeper woman was a little bit of a crazy one. However, there wasn't much she could do against her almost vicious administrations. Soon, the shopkeeper had managed to convince her to buy one of the woman's 'most precious possessions', a simple silver ring. It was surprising really, she'd managed to snag to customers and already one of them was handing over 3 gold mizas for something she hadn't even wanted anyway.

However, the purchase was a golden opportunity for them, as it were. Whilst the shopkeeper was distracted placing the mizas in the till, Ssanya quickly offered a brief smile towards the stranger, and hotfooted it out of the shop, opening the door as quietly as she could so as not to incur the wrath of the strange shopkeeper. She hoped the stranger followed, at least for his own sanity, although he did seem to know the woman. She lingered outside the shop for a fragment of time, wondering if the man would make it out.

But it was not to be. The stranger either remained trapped or was simply catching up with an old friend, and so Ssanya carried on walking and left behind the spider-like shopkeeper, as she slipped the silver ring onto her finger with a thoughtful muse.
