This is the main aspect of Leliana's character when I created her, and will probably be a continuous driving point for all plots to come. I've built her around the desire to explore the width and breadth of Mizahar and develop the skills to do so. Due to her upbringing, she has a strong draw to all things wild, and ultimate goal is for her to be able to survive in the wilderness indefinitely. This means a lot of training, but will pay off in the end.
Another huge part of her makeup, which also falls into the spellsword and "thief" arc, is her Morphing. This is the skill I want her to master most of all, and ultimately be able to blend into the world in any form, be it as another person or a beast. Exploring the unforgiving tundra in the far north? Morph into a bear. Being chased and need to escape? Slip into the form of an old crone. It could help her pass undetected by hostile man or monster, or reach otherwise impossible locations. Ancient ruins in the mountains? A rooftop in the city? Underwater caverns? Check.

This is going to be a natural arc as Leliana progresses and learns more skills. The question is where it will take her. There are several possibilities that are appealing to me, one of which is mentioned in the "thief" arc, but another could be as a Mage Knight in Syilras. It's where she's from, after all, so the area is familiar to her and it wouldn't be a stretch of her character.
The most likely though would match with her world traveler concept, and suit a mercenary lifestyle. Having a martial and magical skill set would open up a lot of possibilities and a wealth of new areas to explore, as well as make her a formidable opponent to monsters and humans alike, giving her access to a lot of fun and dangerous contracts. Building on this is something I'm very excited about and likely to stick with no matter where my writing takes her.

I'm on the fence on whether I would pursue this arc very heavily.
I wouldn't ever want to take Leliana down the road of the stereotypical thief, but more so utilize their skills. Stealing from people isn't in her character, unless it took on a more Robin Hood mentality, but knowing how to break into someone's house or escaping from bonds could be extremely useful. She could never think like a criminal, and if she stole it would be for her own survival or to help someone she cared about. Sneaking into a bandit camp to free hostages or exploring a cave known to house dangerous monsters takes a quiet and quick step too.
If working as a mercenary at any time, it could be useful to know her way around a lock or safe. Akajia and Night Stalking is also a huge point of interest, and already being familiar with the shadows could help if I choose to explore that realm with her. Being a curious person, she's already pre-disposed to seeking out knowledge, and any kind of secret is exciting. This could lead to something with the High Guard, but the prerequisites involved would put that far off.

Out of just about anything on Mizahar, Pathfinding is probably the single most intriguing thing, and what I'm interested in for Leliana above all else. If there is an ultimate goal to attain here, that would be it. It suits every single possible arc for her as a character, especially the ones I favor most. I'm not horribly interested in Leliana becoming some all-powerful mage or warrior, but a seeker of information, people, and things call out to me the most. This is going to have to involve a very elaborately planned series of threads, but I'm looking forward to the challenge in order to reap this ultimate reward.
