Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

Festival of Illusion

The fortune teller danced with her sudden partner, or it was almost dancing, she wasn't quite sure. However, the woman didn't quite care. The kelvic was enjoying herself, and she was more than happy to sort-of dance even if it wasn't really dancing.

Suddenly, people who her dance partner seemed to know arrived, and during that Arisia paused for a moment to get a better look at the people around her. The woman she had been dancing with had dark hair, an orange mask on her face. The others were a person with a cloak alike her own, and another with a worn tiger-like mask.

She smiled at Ssanya once she introduced herself, and asked her name. There was no harm that the feline saw in having a date to the festival, and she lightheartedly giggled as the other called herself a fool.

"You look just as much a fool as I do, since I didn't know your name either." A light smirk crossed her face briefly, and she blushed slightly upon being winked at. Despite not having a drink, the woman was drunk on the atmosphere of the festival.

"My name is Arisia, a pleasure to meet you Ssanya." She gave a friendly, if slightly mischievous, smile to her 'date', the woman's peculiar coloured eyes looking around at the others, curiosity visible in them.

The woman absentmindedly twirled a strand of her hair around her finger as she spoke, her expression settling on a less mischevious smile than her last. "I'm happy to meet you both aswell, it's quite the festival this city has." She directed the pleasantry towards the other two, with a grin directed towards them as well. She was intrigued by all the people around her,
just like she was with the rest of the city. She had only been in Alvadas for a season after all, yet she planned to stay for a while longer, if only out of curiosity.

Festival of Illusion

The jubilations soared through the streets, laughter and music and dance swirling around them. A large group, carrying long pipes and tubes, hurtled past, excited chatter spilling from them and their instruments. A moment later, they were half-way up a building, resting on the tiled slant of a roof and pouring their breaths through the flutes. Bird-like noises spilled out, and birds themselves seemed to appear, mixing their song with the noise of the musicians.

Sparks tumbled from the sky, still falling from the explosion of the crow. Bright golds and scarlets, they fell like rain on the people below but were warm crackles at the touch, the air filling with the noise of popping candy.

But the sparkles as they met clothes and skin were nothing compared to when they hit the cloaks that about half of the crowds there wore; beautiful cloaks that shimmered in the light like golden Ionu's wings. When the last pieces from the giant crow fell, they tumbled onto these cloaks, and, instead of bouncing off them and rolling the carpet that was forming beneath their feet, they were soaked in, fully absorbed by the fabric. As they touched the fine weave, the cloth seemed to shift colour, flying through the colours of the rainbow, until it settled, half-permanently, on its favoured colour: gold. The flecks of gold started to spread, a flood of colour until everything gleamed uniform gold.

At the next movement of those who wore the cloaks, the material would rise up, spreading where it could and twisting where people stood in the way. The way the cloaks curled, it was appear that they were forming wings, beautiful, gold wings like the crow had.

Then they continued spiralling upwards, lifting into the air like parachutes, only in the other direction. Slowly, those that wore the capes found themselves lifted, if only by a tug, into the air. Feet were pried from the ground, and they began to experience a sense of weightlessness. So weightless, in fact, that they could heave another up with them, and they would feel like they were flying too (until the wearer of the cloak dropped them, that was).

The cloaks would lift those that wore them up into the air to be level with the players of the pipes - that is to say, about one floor high. But if they happened to look down? It would feel like the ground was miles away.

Festival of Illusion

Introductions had been made, and the group of four woman were no longer strangers. Madeira was just about to suggest that they all dance, or get drinks, when something strange happened. There was a tugging at her back, right between her shoulder blades. The cloak behind her, now a glittering, solid gold, began to twist and reform itself. The noise of the crowed spiked as the cloaks of the people nearby began to change too.

A native Avalad was dead to shock and jaded to surprise, so Madeira merely giggled stupidly as she twisted this was and that to better see what was going on behind her. But slowly, ever so slowly, she began to feel her body change too. It felt like her bones had turned to feathers, and wind pumped through her veins. A complete weightlessness began to drift through her. Suddenly her heels were no longer touching the ground.

Her hands whipped out with a laugh, seizing onto the nearest object in an effort to tether herself to the ground. She caught Ssanya's hand in a tight grip, but it didn't seem to help. Now they were both peeling off the surface of the world, tethered together by their interlocked hands.

People around them started to float away too. Some alone, some in pairs, all borne up by the heaving of the cloaks. One story up, but feeling much, much further, nearly half the revellers hung suspended. Sparks continued to fall, music continued to play, and the party continued into the sky. Madeira, delighted and a little drunk, pointed down to the party below, laughing.

"Look! Look where we are!" With a pull of their hands she floated over to the Dhani and wrapped both arms around her waist for a better hold.

"Praise Ionu. This is the best Illusion Festival I've ever seen!"

Her newfound 'date' seemed lovely, she decided. Her eyes were particularly striking, as they were split in colour, and almost hypnotising in nature. She found herself absentmindedly staring, but refused to snap out of her intoxicated mood merely for the sake of formality. "Alvadass iss lovely. Thissss festival is too!" Another drink found itself into her hand, and a silver miza left jovially. The wooden beaker tilted in a toast to her new-and-old-found companions. She sipped it without paying attention, and slinked deeper into non-control. Ssanya found she liked it there.

Still... there was the nuit. Her eyes slid to her now, just barely keeping herself from pouncing forwards to study closer. How intriguing this dead but not-dead girl was. Ssanya laughed suddenly, and leaned in closer in their little group to hear what Madeira was about to say. A sudden flurry of movement and sound obscured her voice, and she quirked her head to catch what it was, exactly, that she was saying, only to realise that all around golden cloaks were lifting and unfurling into the sparkling air. Her eyes widened to take in the gloriousness of it all, and a little, "Oh! of surprise nudged past the 'o' shape of her lips as Madeira grabbed her hand.

They were airborne, as if it were natural, as if it were normal. Ssanya could feel the giggles coming before they started, and didn't stop them when they did. They were a statement of her sheer, delighted joy, little bubbles and bursts of mirth that creased undiluted happiness into her nut-brown eyes. They were both drunk, a little. She supposed that normally, the two would be far more conservative, but with Ionu's playfulness running through her veins she curled her arms around the woman and half-hugged, half hung on for dear life as they began spinning slowly, a constellation of silliness suspended in the sky.

All around them, people were grinning from ear to ear. This was a city that truly worshipped Ionu in it's every move, and although the deity was at heart mysterious and odd, there was a beautiful element of the god that rested in fun-loving and intricate amusements. Ssanya felt she could appreciate a god like that. With her chin tucked on the other woman's shoulder, the snake grinned and agreed. "Ionu iss a wonder. Thisss is a wonder. We are flying, Madeira!" And seized by a sudden, childish, mischievous impulse she pulled the golden Spiritist sideways and jerked through the fluttering crowds of Ionu's shimmering flock. Beneath them, revellers gazed up with eyes full of the light of humanity and everything else besides, but Ssanya merely glanced with gleeful delight and clung on tight to her anchorless anchor.

A mischievous tug, and the giggling tangle that was Madeira and Ssanya were floating sideways though the cloud of people. The two women were rolling slowly in the air, propelled gently forward. Madeira would for one tick see the glittering, wild streets below, full of delightful madness and impossibilities that stretched the mind. Then she would be slowly turned and face the sky, where a calm, bottomless, seamless and predictable blue stretched out endlessly before her.

She kicked with her legs, some how trying to move faster, go higher. She wanted to touch that blue and bring it the beautiful chaos it was missing. She wanted to spin through the city and race the streets below. And she wanted to do it with the Dhani that was laughing against her shoulder, because for this night at least, they were both drunk and in love with the city.

As if sensing her intentions, the gold cloak on her back, twisted into shimmering feathered wings, gave a mighty flap. At once the pair was propelled forward, wind whistling in their ears and the street moving before them like a twisting snake. Another flap, and they skimmed by a tall tree that seemed to grow out of the ground before their very eyes. Another flap, and they were soaring, weaving effortlessly through towers and buildings and stranger things. They Madeira trailed delighted laughter as they flew, one hand wrapped protectively around Ssanya, one trailing through the air currents.
