With the help of local manpower, Randal Zor has been at it again to increase the settlement's housing availability. This time, stretching out over the beautiful waters of Syka's bay, Ranchos now line the shore in several places. These octagonal buildings are built across deep pilings that have been driven into the coastline beneath the waters with the assistance of reimancy. Because these pilings are coated with tar from the tarpits, they are kept from rotting in the salt heavy water. These dwellings are particularly cool in the heat of the summer and perfect for aquatic races that want to live above water but still in the immediate vicinity to the sea.
The Ranchos have very open walls with huge windows that allow the sea breezes to come in and cool the occupants. Open, airy, and very comfortable, the Ranchos are considered a step up from the very simplistic Bungalows. The Overwater Ranchos are attached to the shore by a small pier dockway.
While there is an outdoor shower on the deck surrounding the bungalow, the latrine consists of a small bench and a whole cut in the deck which surrounds the Rancho. Water is heated on the roofs in a cistern system that can be used for both the shower and kitchen sinks. Both the latrine and shower have a privacy wall that conceals the user from the view of the shore.
These Ranchos come fully furnished. To claim one, all one has to do is simply move in. If he finds the capacity exceeded and the Ranchos filled, Randal will build more. He will be by to collect rent which is due every season on the last day to the sum of 150 gold. These accommodations are considered 'good' by Syka's standards and run cheaper than an Inn or Tavern rate in most cities. If rent cannot be paid, the squatter will be put to work as a servant to Syka until the debt is paid and any debt accrued during their indenture. Renters are required to pay for all damages to the Ranchos while they are renting.
Ranchos can be purchased and owned for the sum of 1000 GM. The furniture is NOT included in the outright purchase.
