Character History
✨Past✨
At the beginning of the Summer of 505AV, Eamon splashed down in the spectacular fashion known to Ethaefal in the rather aptly named Plunge Pool Bay. Immediately recognized as one of Leth’s children, friendly Akalaks took in the Ethaefal and gave the newly reborn Eamon a place to stay and rediscover the world. One of these Akalaks was a potter and Eamon found him fascinated how the lowly clay could be fashioned into so many shapes and formed. It was as changeable as he felt he was. Eamon eagerly absorbed what he could of Riverfall culture and well as the skills embraced by the Akalaks. Upon discovering his apparent Svefra heritage, Eamon eagerly embraced this part of his past. Spending time around the priests and priestesses of Laviku’s Tower, as well as the fisherman of the docks, Eamon longed to wander the waves himself, although he didn’t necessarily have the skills to do it properly.
Luck would have it though, as the Svefra often visited the city of Riverfall to trade and restock their goods. The Tidechaser pod was one such family, and though initially reluctant to take on the recently born and completely unskilled Ethaefal, Eamon’s enthusiasm eventually managed to win them over and he was accepted onto their ships. He spent many years with them, learning of their history and culture and exploring his love of the sea.
He grew especially close with the matriarch and lia of the Tidechaser pod, Alesa Tidechaser. This elderly woman worked as the ship’s doctor, and though she was near the end of her life, she accepted Eamon as if he was one of her own children or numerous grandchildren, at least once he won passage aboard her ship, Tide’s Glory. She began instructing him in the basics of her art, for although the Svefra were blessed with the bounty of the sea, they were also cursed with the dangers that presented, and many injuries, both major and minor, passed through Alesa’s gnarled hands. Eamon soaked it up eagerly, craving the acceptance that he’d found and the knowledge she provided. He spent many years with her and her family, growing wise with the knowledge that only the Svefra possess. She also, when she trusted him further, began to induct him into her more mystical arts, showing him the very basics of Spiritsm. As the leader of her pod, she was, after all, responsible for the souls as well as the bodies of her kin, although she didn’t bring this up as much as her other skills. Eamon soaked this up as eagerly as all the rest of the knowledge she imparted, although he was only taught the very basics of this particular art. Her intention had been for Eamon to become her apprentice of sorts, although as a man and an Ethaefal he could never reach her level of status.
However, all good things come to an end, and eventually Alesa passed from this world to the next, where Eamon could not follow. He mourned for her, both alone and with her whole family. With her loss, Eamon felt himself growing restless again, not wanting to stay in a place that used to hold so many good memories but now was poisoned by loss. He had to find someplace new, where he could restart his life. He returned to Riverfall, remembering his early days fondly, but it wasn’t the same as he’d remembered from his metaphorical childhood. Still, he stayed there, trying to hone his skill and find a new place to embark.
Eventually, he found out about the relatively young settlement of Syka, where adventurers looking for a fresh start often went, trying to shake off the ills of their past. As Eamon had no knowledge of the jungle, he spent some time reading and learning about at least the basics of the dangers that he might be facing. Finally, he felt prepared, and he departed for the sands of Syka, excited for this blank chapter in his life. He’d be forging a path very few had before him.
