An orphan to Black sun soldiers it wasn't like he didn't have a legacy. Being larger jobs that required strength were often given to him and with that muscles sprouted naturally giving him the strength to enforce his attitude. All the Orphans know to either be on his good side or not be in his way.
His son of a soldier and a tavern maid it wasn’t as if grand ambitions were something he was given growing up and his mothers illness and following death in his fifth year of life did little good for him when his father took to working harder and taking on more and more dangerous tasks, perhaps for more money, perhaps simply to be away from the boy who reminded him of his wife. Either way the distance he forced between him and his son did little good to make the boy feel wanted, and when his father failed to come home one day, and he was greeted by two soldiers bearing condolences he hardly shed a tear. At the age of nine he’d already hardened his heart and was content to keep to himself or force others to see things the way he did. He’s unsympathetic and sees the world as cruel and out to get him, but perhaps he’d change if proven wrong?

Name: Grennal Stonevein Race: Human DoB: 507 Av Spring 17th PoB: Ravok Title: Orphan Skills:Investigation 30, Intelligence 25, Observation 20, Acting 10, Socialization 10 Gnosis: Additional Info: One of the more curious orphans, it was as if he was born with a silver tongue and a infectious smile. Insatiably curious and charming enough to talk himself in and out of any situation he’s happy to do so too if he thinks it’ll glean him some interesting information or just entertain him. The only real issue is as much as he likes poking around and learning things and secrets he’s stubborn as a mule when it comes to revealing any information he has, even more so if it pertains to himself. Though even then he’s graceful in changing topics and evading hard questions.
It’s assumed that his mother was Stryfe, an intelligence officer or spy even, though his father is completely unknown, perhaps she bore him in a foreign land on an assignment before coming home to Ravok, either way, her death was as mysterious as the origins of who his father is. Though it’s unlikely that the woman died of natural causes. Son like mother, however, should he ever really use his skills for something other than entertaining himself he could easily fill the shoes of his family.

Gnosis: None Additional Info: The boy with sailors blood, sole survivor of a tragic storm and even more tragically, found by Ravokain traders. Whether being dead or Ravokian is worse, is hard to say. Either way young enough to be trainable the boy became another ward of the commerancy even if he’s still bitter about it. Quick with a story and even quicker to twist one to teach a lesson he’s good at demeaning you and ravok without letting you realize it, after all it’s only coincidence when the character that looks just like you gets eaten by a shark right? His memories of the open water haunt him and it’s likely that if he ever gets the chance to return to the sea he will. As it is he spends most of his time doing as little as possible save for when he’s asked for a story, one of the few things he’s always happy to oblige.
Use: Sniffed, snorted or used in cooking instead of salt. Effects: Ravok's "club drug". Grey, chunky powder or small crystals with a faint chlorine odor and salty taste. Made by preparing a chemical solution, submerging a piece of red granite in it, and harvesting the crystalline residue off the granite. Induces a pleasant sense of weightlessness and making one feel as if floating above the ground. The reduced spatial awareness increses the risk of accidentally falling off a walkway and drowning, so it is usually taken indoors. After-effects include profuse sweating and vertigo. Addictive. Consistent use leads to problems with the vestibular apparatus and may induce an irrational fear of heights (even relatively small heights). L2 Poison to create.
Hot Oil
Use: Rubbed into skin, typically the wrists and lower back, or used in cooking. Effects: Runny, tan oil with a light nutty aroma and the taste of bitter almonds, pressed from the seeds of a relatively common wild flower. Dilates the blood vessels in the area of application, leading to a pleasantly warm and sensation and making muscle soreness pass more quickly. Cooking with it leads to food having the rejuvenating "heat" of alcohol without causing inebriation. Not addictive. Consistent use leads to skin discoloration (if rubbed into the same spot) and blood pressure problems. L1 Herbalism to identify and harvest, L1 Philtering OR L1 Poison to refine.
Zamgizar
Use: Burned as incense or (rarely) smoked. Effects: Short, slender birch-like tree with thorny white leaves, thought to have been imported from Ahnatep. Cultivated on the lakeshore in greenhouses. When dried and burned, the leaves produce thick, sweet-smelling lavender-colored smoke that has a pleasantly sedative effect. The drug is addictive and abuse leads to chronic fatigue. Smoking it directly will induce sleep immediately, which makes it useful as a short-term insomnia relief. Typically associated with the Plaza of Dark Delights, known there as "brothel air". but sometimes also used for medicinal purposes. L1 Herbalism to harvest and L1 Poison to refine.
Doom
Use: Injected, swallowed in a tiny capsule or dissolved in liquid. Effects: Clear, odorless liquid with a pungent taste. Doom is a refined neurotoxin harvested from the Chaos Children, a type of monstrous spiders that carry the spark of Rhysol's divinity. Induces intense euphoria, energy rush, clear-mindedness and all-consuming optimism. The strongest effect occurs with the first use and can border on the miraculous, able to permanently cure severe mental disorders such as major depression and schizophrenia. The drug lives up to its sinister name by being extremely addictive and generally able to kill a regular user by destroying their nervous system over the course of two to three years. Withdrawal effects are mysteriously random, ranging from pure physical pain to psychedelic hallucinations or visions of the user's own future demise. An addiction to Doom can be alleviated by magical means, but never completely cured. Often used by the Black Sun as a poison. L3 Poison to harvest and refine.
Soldier Pill
Use: Swallowed or rectally inserted. Effects: Round, dark brown pill made of highly compressed powders in a thin gelatinous capsule. It contains a large concentration of sugar, caffeine, taurine and various powdered herbal stimulants. Dramatically heightens energy and awareness for around 20 chimes, followed by drowsiness and fatigue. It was developed for military use by the Ebonstryfe, who call it "wakeup pill", and is actually a reinvention of a vastly popular and successful Suvan recipe. Today, it's sold by most Ravokian apothecaries. When swallowed, it takes about 20 ticks to take effect, but when inserted anally it takes full effect immediately. Although civilians like to joke about "butt pellets", knowledge of that factoid has saved the lives of many soldiers. Not addictive but easy to become reliant upon. Consistent use leads to heart problems. L2 Herbalism to identify and harvest the herbal components, L1 Poison OR L1 Philtering to create.
Nonsense / "Spinner"
Use: Sniffed or snorted. Effects: Pale green, flighty powder with a mouldy smell and bitter taste. Made from an odd fungal culture commonly found growing on submerged parts of Ravokian buildings. Has mild psychedelic properties, making the world appear comically disfigured and all sounds and voices become comically distorted. After-effects include nausea, dizziness and ripples in the corners of vision. Not addictive. L1 Poison to harvest and refine.
Tenebration
Use: Absorbed topically. Effects: Pitch-black, slightly viscous liquid with a silky texture, the taste of blood and the aroma of fresh rain. Made from the ink of a giant squid living in the ocean north of Mizahar. When massaged into an area of the body, temporarily deprives that area of all sensation. Applying it to the eyes causes removes sight, applying it to the inside of the ears removes hearing and so on. When the effect wears off, the user will temporarily feel like a stranger to his own returned senses, which is harmless but very unpleasant. The substance has no recreational utility and is not known among the public. There is also the esoteric practice of submerging oneself into a bath of the liquid, which is called "deep tenebration", and completely deprives the subject of all the five senses. Typically associated with the mysticism of certain gods and advanced meditation and Projection techniques. L2 Poison to refine.
Sonder
Use: Smoked, chewed or brewed as tea. Effects: Aromatic, rough-tasting dried mix of common and uncommon herbs and flowers growing in northern Sylira. It has a mildly calming effect, but is more known for its after-effects: anxiety, restlessness and chaotic mental activity. It has a reputation for increasing creativity and is typically associated with Ravok's well-developed bohemian culture. Addictive. Long-term use can lead to increased anxiety levels. L1 Herbalism to identify and harvest. More skilled herbalists enjoy experimenting with this mix.
Otherside / "Rainbow" / "Ukalas"
Use: Small blotters placed under the tongue. Effects: Starchy, white, odorless powder with a mildly sweet taste. Made from certain minerals found in shallow parts of Lake Ravok and a spiritist's soulmist. An optional component is a dusted ghost. A water solution of the powder is soaked into special blotting paper, making mysterious color waves appear on it. Otherside is an incredibly powerful psychedelic, the experience of which depends on the quality of the soulmist; poor soulmist increases the risk of bad trips. Adding a dusted ghost can give visions related to that ghost or its previous lives. The after-effect is fugue of varying length. Not addictive. Abuse, overdose or improper use (such as attempting to snort the powder) leads to a horrible death. Requires L3 Philtering and advanced equipment to create.
Approved: Float, Hot Oil, Nonsense, Sonder, Otherside
Tweaks:Zamgizar - please add something about it being used for nefarious purposes. Maybe a person developed a cap to hold it in their mouth and can blow smoke into someone's face and knock them out cold. Doom - This needs to be noted that it's very rare and perhaps even controlled by the Ebonstryfe so acquisition needs approval. You developed those spiders- you decide. Soldier's Pill - I think 'wake-up pill' is too tame. 'Boot in the arse' seems much more fitting. Tenebration - I think this would be a highly controlled substance as well much like Doom.

From the time he was very young, the man was taught how to hold a weapon and intimidate people. After serving as a member of the city guard, he stepped down when an injury left him with a limp. Though that has not seemed to slow him down. He now serves the family by working at the Commorancy tending to the children that cannot be controlled. I've changed my mind about this guy. Remove the City Guard aspect. Only nice and honorable people work there- this man is a Galatos. If he's going to be shady, creepy and scary then so be it. Please add philtering and intelligence to his skill list. Let me know when you've updated him.

When Kai was 10 years old, him and his pod found themselves in Ravok after losing their Palivar to a Stryfe at the Northern Outpost. The Riptides were a rowdy bunch and had drank most of the Sunberthian alcohol intended to be exported to the lake city. Others offered to take them back, but they managed to make friends with the little port community by telling tales of their adventures and sharing what was left of the alcohol. Soon enough, the Riptides decided to stay in the city, feeling comfortable with Ravok’s safety and the freshwater lake, where they found their new catfish Pardisa and tavans.
Kai, however, has always felt a little antsy about lingering, and was surprised by his family’s lack of support. The truth was that the Riptides had fallen for the stories of Rhysol’s benevolence, and chose to continue their lives honouring the God’s love for his people. Kai was at peace with Rhysol’s influence on his family. He’d taken to helping with the protection of the city as a constable, more for his family’s satisfaction then for his own ambitions. The young Svefra was useful for his reserved and observant demeanour, and was thus a worthy member of the Guard; but he’d longed for adventure. For travel. For new experiences. He was getting bored.
He tended to sink his angst into either his beloved jewelcrafting hobby... or women. But mostly women. He has a knack for convincing a lady that she was his world before cutting her off the next day. He’d managed to do this without gaining a reputation, which was easy when Kai was who he was: sweet on the surface, scheming underneath. It wouldn’t be long until his tomfoolery comes back to bite him.
He looks solid. Please assign some XP to his skills that seems fitting of a man in his station based upon the current codex's requirements for City Guardsmen. Once this is done, let me know.

The Black Sun will not assign a special instructor to the Commorancy. He would be stationed at the Vitrax with the rest of the training staff. Please assign him an actual rank in accordance with the Ebonstryfe lore as well. Interrogator might be his niche but that is not a rank. Skillwise, I'd rather see him be more along the lines of a smooth and deceptive man as opposed to a scary interrogator. Those NPCs already exist and they're terrifyingly effective. I like this concept but it's too broad strokes for what this NPC should be. Let me know when you've made some changes and I'll take another look.

Name: Old Al Race: Human Sex: Male Birthday: Fall 14, 463 AV Occupation: Tradesman (variety) Skills: Carpentry - 43, Masonry - 15, Bodybuilding - 18, Blacksmithing - 10, Wilderness Survival - 24, Endurance - 35, Sailing - 20 Background: Jack of all trades, master of none. Albert Baret, or “Old Al” as he is more commonly known, has worked a variety of jobs over his lifetime. In his youth, he frequently repaired rotted out docks or wooden platforms which make up the majority of Ravok. Sometimes that meant doing the dirty work. Through his diligence, over time he became well known for doing the odd task. As such, he picked up several trades, either on his own through trial and error, or by asking those who worked in the profession. Over the years he’s lent a hand to both the Calicos and the Bartons. Old Al was never one to offer his full allegiance, and always remained the independent sort going from one odd job to the next.

He's always been something of a fanatic for the right cause, and Ravok has always been the city he loved. His employment was as a smith in Nyka before he returned to Ravok, and there he forged weapons for the monks of Uphis and tools for everyone else, but it wasn't work he was much passionate about. Upon returning to Ravok, he promptly made himself join the Ebonstryfe as an apprentice before completing his Crucible and being awarded full Soldier status. Notes: Jeanne has two kids, a healthy amount of burn scars along his arms and hands, and lives in the Nitrozian Quarter. She was never much useful in Nyka, as the city conformed to strange religious practices and hindering superstitions and her father hadn't inherited much silliness from the city to share with his child. She was never much nice, aspired to be a monk for the power the position offered (and maybe because she liked pugilism a little too much), but jumped at the chance to relocate to Ravok. Her first act was to take as much time as she could to get to know the city, its residents, and the god she'd only heard of in her father's most devout lessons, before taking up some tutelage in combat and useful skills that would benefit her here. It brought her to become a guardsman, though she hopes to join the Ebonstryfe with her father when she's proven herself worthy of apprenticeship. Maybe, if she's lucky, she'll even marry into one of Ravok's privileged Families. Notes: Roxane is Jeanne Dubois' daughter. She's crass and mouthy and comes off antagonistic a lot of the times, but an underlying sweetness dampens her irritation when it comes to children and animals.

Purpose: City NPC.
Background: Born to a simple family in the city of Alvadas, he spent a vast majority of his childhood within the city of illusions; Well, long enough to pick up a few obvious eccentricities. However, at sometime during his adolescence his family moved to his father’s home city of Ravok. Maynard spent most of that time working as a baker, but wanted some excitement in his life which led him to becoming a member of the city guard. Whether on duty or off, he can often be found on patrol with a basket of baked goods. On more than one occasion, he has thrown muffins at criminals and Cherries while out on patrol.

Purpose: Will serve as Linnaeus' current owner and master within the Nitrozian estate and will be heavily weaved into her plots.
Background: Born into the Nitrozian family, Nettie has lived within the estate her entire life. Educated, sophisticated, and beautiful, she has moved through life with others believing she has had everything handed to her--completely unaware of the troubled childhood she had. On the surface, Nettie seems strong and put-together, always with a coy smile painted on her face. She is known for her style, and other women in the estate often go to her for advice regarding their appearances. Early in her life she came across an injured dove hopping around the garden and took it under her care, giving it a home and helping to mend its injuries and nurturing it. She became very attached to the dove and discovered a life-long love and admiration for all types of birds, and now houses a small flock of budgerigars within her room.
Notes: I will find an avatar for Nettie, I also plan to include small descriptions of her budgies and photos for them. I was planning on her to have four or fave altogether? I also want a lot of her background story to be figured out through roleplay. I think I'd like for Linn and her to form an interesting dynamic--one where she is more than just a slave, but less than a friend--some kind of mystic confidant for Nettie, a type of handmaiden.
Name: Jay Garrot Race: Human Sex: M Birthday: 67th of Fall, 481 Occupation: Constable in the City guard Skills: Shortsword - 26 Unarmed combat - 10 Negotiation - 30 Investigation - 15 Purpose: A city guard that is one of Solomon's friends. Always trying to stay out of his problems. Background: Jay grew up in Ravok and always wanted to be a mercenary. So as soon as he could he signed up for some work and ended up working with Solomon on his first job. On this job, he was nearly killed from having his leg torn open. This lead to him and Solomon becoming acquaintances when the Solomon is the one to drag him out of the battle and then friends as he helped him and his wife go through the rough period while he recovered and before he got work in the city guard.
Over the years he continues to run into his friend, but less and less.
Notes:Recently this past season he has been the one to deliver Solomon's letters from his sister for him, and sends them also for Solomon as a way to repay but is living a regular day-to-day life while raising a young son.
Has a small scar on his cheek and a limp on his left leg.
