D&D: Gauging interest.

Hello everyone,

As an avid gamer of the tabletop verity, I often enjoy playing games of D&D. Its one of my favorite pass times other than posting here to the forum. I don't just play D&D but also Edge of Empire (Star wars) games. I'm wondering if I did happen to run a game of D&D for people here on Miz, who would be up for playing?

The game I suggest would be a D&D 5E game where everyone starts out at level 1. An easy game that people who have never played before can play.

If you don't have any info, I suggest reading this 5E Srd.

Anyway, let me know what you think and tell me what type of character you'd want to play.

Rubio: a 25 yo reckless Lightfoot Halfling rogue. Favorite equipment would be a rather large beer stein. Primary weapon: Shortbow and quiver.

I could not commit to consistent playing on a Saturday or Sunday. Best for me would be evenings EST.

From all those who've posted, this is what the base team looks like so far and I like it. I like it because that is a pretty well rounded team.

Now to get down to the logistics of when/where we are going to play and how you are going to make your characters.

START DATE: TBD, most likely Dec 1st or the first week of the month.

RECURRENCE: Could be a 1 shot, to get you all into it. Could be a bi-monthly thing. IDK. Episodic weekly show with a revolving cast made up of other miz peeps?

CATEGORY: Sword/magic, combat type of game to get everyone used to the mechanics. Might grow into a more RP heavy thing... or start like that?

RULESET & Setting: D&D 5E, Sword Coast North, Faerûn (I'll obviously change things/locations for a more personalized game non cannon-ish game.)

Voice or Texted based:Both. If you are shy/don't have a mic, you can play entirely through text. I am perfectly fine with that.

Since I know most of you are on discord, I'm happy with making a tabletop server, and not requiring people to go make Roll20 accounts. I live in the western United states and run on PST time. But really, you all know I'm always up so can literally run this at anytime with coffee and a smile.

Steps to make your character :

• 1) You don't want to handle that shiz. Make the DM do it: Meaning I'll roll your stats, make your character, send you the character sheet.
  
  
• 2) You roll your own stats, build it yourself: I don't care if you roll several times to get the best score, so long as you be honest and tell me you did it. Use a dice roller, roll 4D6 and record that total.
  
  Example Roll(4d6)+0: 6,1,3,2,+0 Total:12
  
  Roll those 4d6 a total of 5 more times, then give those scores to your abilities. Like the example above, give that 12 to one of your Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma attributes depending on your class.
  
  If you roll a 10 or lower, you can drop that and re-roll the number.
  
  Max you can roll is 20: If you roll a 21 and over, it all counts as 20. You can go above to 21+, if your race gives you a plus to the attribute. Example: rolled a 21 + Halfling Lightfoot gets modifier +2 to dex = 22 dex)
  
  A fighter might want to put that 12 into Charisma since its a low score for the class.
  
  Starting Equipment: The gear listed in the class description + the gear in the 'background' description + 100 gold.
  
  I assume you know what to do considering you are building a lvl 1 character by yourself, but PM me on here or discord if you have any questions.

I agree! Great variety on the team.

If we could please start 1st week of December rather than Dec. 1 as I'll be returning from holiday vacation on Sunday, Dec. 3. Adding other Miz peeps would be nice to keep things hopping. Pulrun has already introduced me to voice chat so I'm good with either/or.

I'll give developing my character a shot. I'm rusty but 'old school' should come back to me quickly once I dig in. How/where would you like us to post those results?
