Unlikely Alliances (Jokor)

"Jokor," he repeated, correcting his pronunciation. "Interesting name." His eyebrows rose at the veiled threat, but he offered a vague sort of smile in any case. He wasn't very good with people, but he did try.

"Your head, your hands, and possibly your manhood," he agreed, then indicated the Traveler's Row office. "Well, here we are. I'm not sure where your room is, but hopefully you can navigate there from here considering you would have had to come here to make your deal with the management."

He waited to see if Jokor needed anything else. If he just started looking at Hadrian funny, the young enchanter would assume that he was being creepy and shove off.

Unlikely Alliances (Jokor)

Postby Jokor on February 3rd, 2011, 1:29 pm

Jokor shivered in horror as hadrian mentioned the knights cutting of his manhood and unconsciously protected aforementioned manhood with his hand.
"I have absolutely no intent on losing those parts so I rather keep my actions legal as long as I am in syliras, I already got a small job to get a few miza though."
Jokor thought for a bit, that guy looked like he had money and those guy's always had a few jobs to do for a few coins.
Besides now that he lost his main source of income, he really needed to get in line and try to scrounge everything together he could.

Deciding to risk it he just spoke up again.
"I am still a bit strapped for cash though, do you have a few minor jobs that might need doing?" When hadrian pointed towards the building a few paces away jokor lit up.
"Yep thats the building I remember, I owe you one for this." Jokor said as he turned to Hadrian again.
"Well if you even need a few jobs done don't hesitate to ask me, I can always use a few miza."
He walked of towards the building all to eager to get inside and warm himself up a bit.

Unlikely Alliances (Jokor)

Postby Hadrian on February 4th, 2011, 6:40 am

Hadrian considered the lad carefully, and even engaged his Auristic vision again to give him a once over. Truth be told, he didn't have anything for Jokor to do that he couldn't do himself, but it didn't hurt to have people willing to do things for one. It probably looked like he was staring, and he certainly was, observing how the shiver that ran through the lad made the energy of him shake too, and dim. This, he decided, was a bad sign.

"Perhaps something will come up. I know where to find you." He paused. "You're fading. You should get inside and warm up, get some food and get some sleep. Your aura will burn brighter in the morning if you take care of yourself."

Call it free advice.

Jokor arched an eyebrow and gave him a look of suspicion when hadrian looked quite oddly at him. Not thrusting the glance the man gave him he slowly inched away and slipped his hand under his cloak and grasped his katar.
"Perhaps something will come up. I know where to find you." Jokor gave him a small nod and released the weapon, he was probably just looking at him to see what he could do. The next sentence completely off guard though.
"You're fading. You should get inside and warm up, get some food and get some sleep. Your aura will burn brighter in the morning if you take care of yourself."
Jokor gave him a shocked look.
"Aura's? What are those?" After he got over the initial shock his mind reached him a rather chilling conclusion, this hadrian was a mage. He narrowed his eyes in suspicion at him he never heard good things about mages. But honestly this aura stuff that he was talking about intrigued him, As far as he knew he could read stuff about him that guy was probably a walking lie detector or might even be peering inside his mind right now!
"So you are a mage right?" Jokor carefully prodded for an answer. "What can you do?"

"Auras are... an energetic version of you. They overlay your body, and with practice and skill, an Aurist can read things about you from them. Such as your general health... or your specific health if they are very good."

He sighed at the suspicion, preparing to leave the lad to his warming up and his distrust of things he didn't understand. But then Jokor continued asking questions, and so he stayed, holding his winterbane coat close about him.

"This and that," he offered, a bit cagey. The lad was younger even than he was, so he figured a little something flashy was in order. He held out his hand, palm up, and pushed energy out of the pores in the palm of his hand, changing it with practiced ease from undifferentiated djed into pure res.

The gently glowing green material slid upward as if in an invisible glass, then curved inward until there was a soap bubble of res resting on his palm, a perfect sphere. Then he willed the res to change again, following his own nature and transmuting the res into pure water, the green glow fading into a reflective surface. This bubble of water rose off of his palm and hovered over toward Jokor, slowly solidifying into ice as it went in the cold winter weather.

"Take it if you wish," he said. "It's just a delicate ice sculpture now, but if you wish to ask me more questions, you should invite me in out of the cold."

While most things Hadrian said about those auras didn't mean a lot to him he did get what you could do with it though and he liked what he heard. reading people always came handy when you where in such a dangerous occupation as himself. You never knew when that guy in front of you was just putting up a nice face and was just waiting for the right moment to put that dagger in your back.
A grin got on Jokor's face as he was trying to figure out how he could let this man teach him how to do that, having the advantage was always important and what could give you more off an advantage then how your opponent thinks?

When the man began forming some strange green stuff in his hand jokor looked at it with almost childlike wonder on his face, forgetting the fear of mages that was almost bred into the people of mizahar these days and just looked as it slowly formed a bubble of water that slowly froze to ice, making a perfect sphere that slowly floated towards him.

"Take it if you wish," he said. "It's just a delicate ice sculpture now, but if you wish to ask me more questions, you should invite me in out of the cold."
Jokor carefully took the the ball and looked it over, a curious glint into his eyes and nodded.
"Sure follow me I'll show you my room."
He turned around and walked inside the building.

[ooc=ooc] just act as if you just entered his room in the next post.

Unlikely Alliances (Jokor)

Unfortunately the bubble of ice was only a bubble of ice, and would not last long in a warm room, or even beyond winter once the thaws began, but it was a harmless trick, a cantrip to beguile and amuse, and he seemed to have won out over Jokor's innate distrust. Unless he was planning to knife Hadrian in his little room. But one had to make calculated risks sometimes, or one would not live. That was his philosophy, anyway.

He followed Jokor into Traveler's Row, saying nothing as he was led into the little room built into the walls of Syliras.

"Cozy."

Unlikely Alliances (Jokor)

Postby Jokor on February 4th, 2011, 10:55 pm

Jokor sat down on the soft and comfy bed as soon as he entered the room and pointed towards the chair on the other side of the room.
"You can sit on that if you want, but if you wanna stand its ok for me." He wasn't to bothered by his wet hands or the fact that the bubble was gone, if you could make water appear from nothing that would be a very handy trick and you could even control it so it could be a weapon if you thought a bit about how you had to use it.

"So," Jokor began again, "that aura reading stuff how do you do it?" A giddy smile formed on his face as he said that.
"And how did you make that water appear from nothing at all?" Jokor continued to question hadrian about that.
"I know its magic but how does it work and can you teach me that aura thingy?"

Unlikely Alliances (Jokor)

Postby Hadrian on February 4th, 2011, 11:06 pm

Hadrian sat down in the chair, unbuttoning his coat so as not to overheat next to the fire. His winter wear was actually quite effective, and so he could walk around in the middle of winter with impunity, which had been handy for Jokor's sake. He thought about it for a moment and shrugged.

"I went to the University of Zeltiva to learn, but supposedly anyone can learn to read auras... in fact, some people thing we are born with the ability, but lose it as we grow up. If you believe that, then it's a matter of relearning... or unlearning that you can't do it already. As for the hydromancy... that's the watery form of reimancy... well, that requires initiation, which is painful, and then a lot of practice. Few people become all that well versed in any magic. And most reimancers never make it past their native element."

He paused, considering.

"What do you know about magic, and I'll try to fill in some of the blanks for you."
