Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

Arisia walked through Alvadas, her steps clumsy as usual. That day she was in a good mood, though in the back of her mind she felt that she shouldn't be outside yet, that it wasn't a good idea for her to be there that day.

Though she couldn't avoid people forever, that was one thing the feline was certain of.

Besides, it didn't matter if she was still grieving over her mother's death when she had work to do. The girl didn't want to die just because she didn't want to leave her room to earn money, she needed money to pay for food and shelter. That was enough motivation to get out and find somewhere to work that day.

The city was normal that day, normal for Alvadas that was. Arisia walked without a specific location in mind, looking for a crowd that she could set up near. It wasn't as if she needed anything other than herself and her cards to do her job.

Once she found a good enough spot, the kelvic lay her cloak down on the ground in a small space that was clear of people. She took out her cards and lay them in front of her, she had read her own fortune this morning, they had said it would be a good day to work.

She had done a one card reading for herself, her odd eyes scanned over the deck and pulled out a card - The Sun. Seeing as she was using it to decide what to do, it had meant to be confident in herself. So the feline stuck with her original idea to go out and work that day.

Plastering a cheery grin on her face, she took a seat on top of her cloak, using it to avoid sitting completely on the ground and began to call to those around her with a voice as cheery as her smile.

"Find out your future, see what the cards say!"

Looking around, a few people glanced over towards her, a few with curious looks on their faces and others ignoring her and carrying on with wherever they were attempting to go, Arisia hoped that they got to where they needed to be at least, even if they wouldn't stop to have their cards read.

"Tarot card readings! Have your fortune told!"

Spring Fortunes (Avela)

Avela moved aimlessly through the streets of Alvadas, not really heading towards any particular destination, just thinking. She'd run into her brother earlier that day while out looking for breakfast, and Kairen's behavior hadn't done much to allay her concerns. The boy had been shifty, oddly secretive, and had dodged all of her questions of where he was going and what he was doing so early in the morning, eventually sending her away with a loud: "It's none of your business!" It wasn't the first time Kairen had been difficult--the boy had been born with a rebellious streak--but something felt different about it this time.

Maybe it was the tear she had seen in the sleeve of his coat as he pushed past her and ran off. A jagged tear, like he had caught the sleeve on something and ripped it. Another time, she wouldn't have thought much of it, but it was early enough that he should have come straight from home, and there was no way Sabina Sallis, seamstress and professional snob, would have let her own son leave the house with a tear in his coat.

No matter which way she thought about it, the entire situation felt wrong.

Wrong enough that she hadn't been able to return home to start her Konti language lessons. Wrong enough that she was still wandering through the streets, letting her feet carry her wherever they would, thinking.

Kairen had always seemed the type to get into trouble, but it was innocent, childish trouble. Running around with his friends playing pranks, finding interesting illusions to mess with, scaring newcomers to the city, spying on neighbors. The sort of trouble that would result in him being sent to his room without supper.

Now, for the first time, Avela started to fear that her brother was getting himself into real trouble. And she was worried. Worried enough to pray, asking Ionu to keep her brother's path out of harm's way. But prayer hadn't felt like enough. There had to be something she could do to help.

She walked.

It was only when her feet had grown tired that she paused to see where she had ended up. A courtyard of some sort, with a road that cut through it, filled with people that all wandered the streets, hoping that the city would take them where they needed to go. They moved around her as she stopped, barely paying attention to her.

And it was when she stopped that she heard a voice.

"Find out your future, see what the cards say!"

Avela turned to see a young woman sitting on a cloak off of the main path. She had a messy, untidy appearance, and was sitting behind a deck of cards. Avela recognized the cards as tarot cards, a fortune telling device. Most people didn't put much stock in fortune telling, but Avela had dabbled in it herself. In the hands of someone who knew what they were doing, it could be a powerful--if confusing-=guide.

She felt a shiver as she remembered her prayer. Keep Kairen's path out of harm's way, or else guide her to a way that she would be able to help.

The Konti swallowed, cutting through the stream of people to approach the girl.

"Um..." she said. "How much for a reading?"
