A tug on his sleeve pointed Raeyn in the right direction. Narrowing his eyes he saw something off in the distance glowing though the dense, red fog. She was right! At first it was faint, but soon enough the yellow roar of a fireplace and candles lit their way to safety.
A gasp echoed inside as the two of them hurled though the door, drenched and frozen to the bone, looking really quite pitiful indeed. Lacking in patrons to tend to and trapped indoors by the storm, the staff came running with blankets and towels and gratefully Raeyn accepted the help. He was just happy to be alive.
A million questions roamed his mind. What was the reason for this catastrophic weather phenomenon? How long would it last? Is anyone else in Lhavit stupid enough, much like himself, to have walked out into the storm? And if so are they safe? Is his own family safe? The thoughts made his head spin and he was forced to banish them from minds for now. After all, what sense was there in worrying when one is powerless to change it? The rest of the evening he'd spend drying out in front of the campfire in the company of strangers, counting his blessings, happy to have made it out in one piece.
