Memories

This section is essentially story arcs that may interest readers, but are important to Lani's character development. These are events in Lani's life that were significant enough for them to stay present in her mind and most have come to shape who she is today. In theory they should be fun to read through or at least be used for references. So... enjoy!

 

Mad Little Girl

Lani remembers having one good friend in Alvadas growing up. Although she was a little older than the human girl, Lani (then known as Leavou) found their opposing personalities and common drive to be fun and entertaining. That, and, it is always simpler to make friends as a child than as an adult. Lani and Mads found a lot of curiosities and trouble to get into during their time together and to this day Lani looks fondly back on her memories with the Spriritist.

1. What can be lost but never found again?: A dream thread recounting Lani and Madeira's first meeting, with some added flavor.

Spring, 519AV

1. Birds of a FeatherLani and Madeira are finally reunited, and they learn how much they need each other.

 

A Spider Is Born

During the Winter of 519AV, Lani experienced starvation and romantic love. Although it was not her first time starving, it was her first time under the veil of love, and it made the nomad massively uncomfortable. For the better part of her time in Wind Reach, Lani was able to deny what her relationship with Narth meant to either of them, but it was all brought to a climax in late winter wen Lani underwent a miscarriage, without having known she was pregnant. Becuase Narth cared, he tried to support her during this scarring event, although this only made her push him away more and make up her mind to move away from Wind Reach. Desperate to fill the hole in her life, she purchased and bonded with a pied crow, who will always remind her of the mistake she almost made, and the boy that never was.

Winter, 519AV

1. Break Away: Lani experiences a miscarriage, without having known she was pregnant.
2. Something Old, Something New: Lani desperately tries to rid herself of any reminder of the miscarriage, and winds up purchasing a pied crow.
3. Winged Thing I: Lani seeks Val out for help with raising and teaching Spider.
4. Winged Thing II: Lani uses Spider as an excuse to avoid facing Narth.

 

The Dented Mirror

When Lani first got to Wind Reach and had to replenish her supplies she purchased a small steel mirror as well. Almost as soon as she got it, she dented the thing, and it has come to reflect her time in Wind Reach well. Although it is a small and simple mundane item with no special powers or details, it has come to mean a lot to Lani over the time she held onto it. It was not a point of vanity for her, but a tool to help her blend in and see things about herself that she normally would not have noticed. It was a connection point between her and the first man she loved, and then it was the reagent for her change and adaptation to Wind Reach culture. By the time she opted to rid herself of it, and the changes that Wind Reach had made to her as a person, the dented mirror had meant much more to Lani than she anticipated.

Fall, 518AV

1. Song for the Sky II: Lani dents her new mirror by panicking over the change that overcame her from the star.
2. Song for the Sky III: Although she could get another one, Lani chooses to keep the deformed mirror.

Winter, 518AV

1. The Beat of Two Thousand Hearts: Lani tries to hide all traces of her foreignness in preparation for the Winter Revelry.
2. Do You See Me?: Narth offers Lani a new glass mirror to replace her old one, and she begins to realize what the mirror means to her, and conversely, what Narth means to her.
3. More than Physical: Lani prepares herself for Narth's visit, realizing she is now putting more effort into their relationship, a thought that scares her.
5. Something Old, Something New: Lani throws away her beloved mirror, and tries to sever ties with Narth as well.
6. Goodbye Lover: Upon departing from Wind Reach, Lani sacrifice's Narth's mirror as a gift to Laviku.

 

Song for the Sky

Lani meets Narth and they witness a meteor shower. They discover a fallen rock-like object and when Lani picks it up, it has an affect on her. She is unable to separate herself from the object and finds that it has given her abilities similar to Kelvics, in which she could transform into a Jackal mostly at will. Throughout the season Lani balances her struggle with this new transformative ability and her adjustment to Wind Reach culture and life. When Leth speaks to her to tell her what the gift was and help her recognize how it had changed her perspective on things, he gifted her with a starfire key that opens a small dominion-like room during the night, wherever she is.

Fall 518AV

1. Song for The Sky I: Narth and Lani witness a meteor shower.
2. Song for the Sky II: Lani experiences the effects of the star.
3. Song for the Sky III: Lani attempts to get more information about the star.
4. Song for the Sky IV: Lani's journey comes to an end and Leth bestows her with a gift and a message.
