Kaiya of the Raven Basic Information Race: Chaktawe Birthday & Age: 23 years old; born in year 487. Gender: Female Physical Description Kaiya is somewhat shorter than the average Chaktawe; she measures in at about 5''2', and only weighs about 120 (a lot of the weight coming from the water she stores). She is thin, with slim arms and legs. She has dark tan skin, like all of the Chaktawe, and jet-black eyes. High cheek bones, plump lips, and long black hair with random feathers intertwined with it. She dresses in normal Chaktawe attire. Kaiya wears a one piece dress made out of tanned animal skins that reaches the tops of her knees, and it is decorated with several strings of feathers and bones. She wears a vest-like shirt over her dress made brown fur and black feathers, and goes barefoot almost everywhere. Kaiya often paints her face black, like most of the people in her tribe. This helps her against the sun, and she also simply enjoys applying the paint. She will sometimes use elaborate designs, going from her eyes to her cheeks, mouth, nose, and even neck and shoulders. She is proud to wear her tribes color. Character Concept Kaiya has always been the one in her family that falls behind. She isn't as fast as those in her family/tribe, and she has a quiet personality. She often keeps her opinions to herself, and goes along with the group. She likes to wander off and daydream or think about her life, and all of the possibilities that it holds. She likes to dream about traveling beyond the Burning Plains, but then reminds herself of how insane that idea really is. Kaiya does have a playful side to her. She likes to tell jokes and riddles, and sometimes has random outbursts of positive energy. She likes to dance and sing, and make jewelry and carve. She enjoys playing with children and hearing the stories that the elders of the tribes tell. She loves hearing about great hunts and battles, and about the times before the Valterrian. She is also very devoted to her religion. She prays to her gods everyday, and tries to stay in constant communion with them. She loves to attend sacred rituals in which they pray and worship the Divine. If she is anything, she is a gifted tracker. That is one thing that she has always done for her tribe; she goes out with the hunters and helps to track down the wild herds of goats and other prey, and whatever running water may be around. She has always been gifted with her sense of tracking. The black freckle-like dots on her fingers are her third eye, in a sense. She uses them as much as she can, for she sees them as a direct gift from the gods themselves. Kaiya also loves to sing and dance. They are two of her greatest passions. She learned the skills from her mother, who sang and danced for the tribe during great ceremonies. Her mother began teaching her the arts at a very young age, explaining that dancing it is the greatest communication of the body that they posses, and that singing accompanies and moves people along with it. Character History Born and raised in the Kalanue tribe, Kaiya has led a very simplistic life. Only going out to help track for the hunters, she stays with her elderly mother, whom is 63 years of age. Her father passed away when she was fourteen years old, leaving her and her mother alone. She has no siblings, and her mother's family is in the Suli tribe. They are completely alone as a family. Kaiya helps her mother travel in the desert, doing the hardest work, and leaving the easiest for her mother. Kaiya's father died at a very early part in Kaiya's life, right before Kaiya left for her searching. It was very difficult for Kaiya to deal with, and she mourns for him even now. Kaiya has never had a complicated or extremely trying past, and she likes it that way. She choses a simple life, because she is a simple woman.
