[Flashback] Too Many Magi [Moros]

"World magics all follow a sort of logic, don't you think?" He pursed his lips slightly, wondering how he would begin working alchemy into his enchantments if he had time to learn that discipline as well on top of everything else.

"Yes, magecrafting gets exponentially more powerful the better you get, but it also requires a great deal of time and resources... But a master pyromancer's firestorm lasts how long? The greatest magecrafters created things that were too strong to be destroyed by their makers. Oh, this summer I was experimenting with imbuing metal weapons with reimancy... I started with a butter knife that is always warm enough to cut through even frozen butter... and from there I moved on to bigger and better things. Thank the gods I have access to the University's laboratories and resources for these things."

[Flashback] Too Many Magi [Moros]

“Now that is an interesting use, were you able to sell it? How much did it go for?” Moros said, wondering aloud if something so simple could fetch a price at market. Moros thought for a second, what would happen if something that was imbued with alchemical properties was then magecrafted?
“Alchemy is different, in alchemy you deal with the root of things, for example, you wouldn't imbue a sword with powers, you would imbue the metal from which the sword is made with powers.”

Then he added as an afterthought “Well you don't give it powers per se, alchemy is about taking properties from one material and giving them to another. It sure would be interesting to see what could be done with something that has been changed via alchemy and then magecrafted, the possibilities are very far ranging.

"It was a school project," he explained. "Funded by the University and using all their resources, so I donated it to the kitchens once I had prove its utility to Professor Stonemiller. I'm not sure that anyone would have been able to afford its price. That's the trouble with magecrafting... one has to know how much to enchant a thing and balance it against what people will be willing to pay. I should learn to do some metalcrafting or carving or something..."

He shook his head, then listened.

"It seems like one could magecraft or alchemize a thing and get quite similar results. I suppose it depends on the desired effect whether one way would be more effective than another. Although... from what I understand, magecrafted items don't have a half-life like alchemized materials. I suppose a talented Leecher might be able to destroy them, though..."
