“What is Djed, is it a solid? A liquid? A gas?” asked master Uriah. “It is all three, and none at the same time” Moros answered. He was enjoying this session immensely, he and master Uriah had been going for almost two hours now, although Uriah was doing most of the talking. Originally master Uriah had posted this question, and they were still debating, not as teacher and learner, but as equals and he was enjoying every minute of it. “Djed is part of our bodies, but even though it is inside us it does not take up space, how is this possible?” Master Uriah had again stumped him, he had never gotten used to this after years of studying beneath him. It bothered him that even after years of studying, he knew only a fraction of what was out there. Djed was a hard thing to study, only a few things are known that can be proven. The most common misconception being that Djed is a thing, it is merely a word that has been assigned to the driving force of magic. Whatever Djed truly was it did not take up space, nor have weight, or volume, or substance. It is merely there, this concept confused Moros, If he could see Djed and expel it from his body then how can it not be there? Thinking back to his training he remembered some of the things master Uriah has spent many hours drilling into his head. “All things have Djed and it can not be created nor destroyed, only transformed.” Moros clearly remembered this day, as this was his first day under Uriah. He had spent hours “Transforming Djed” into different shapes on his paper. Rule number two, “Pure Djed is more potent then non-pure Djed, the most pure sources of Djed are within the soul, Djed within the body is the next purest source.” “Alright alright!” blurted Moros. “all this talk of Djed and theory is spinning my head. I need to do something besides sit and philosophize about how and why Djed does what it does. I am going to head down to the training rooms at the university and practice a little.” Biding his teacher goodbye and goodnight he headed back towards the University. He was very appreciative that he and his teacher had such a good relationship, Master Uriah no longer thought ill of Moros's random, and sometimes inconvenient entry's and exits. The walk back to the university was uneventful, the smell of sea salt permeated the air as always. Moros enjoyed living in Zeltiva, it wasn't all that uncommon to have at least one or two groups of adventurers in and out of the city at most parts of the year. Moros had even at one time had a discussion with a passing mercenary captain at The Kelp Bar. Quickly walking the rest of the way and into the old quarter Moros walked right into the university building. Locating an empty training room he dragged a chair to the middle and took a seat. Before he did any Djed transforming he would sit and meditate for a little while. The last thing he needed was a mistake on his part during a training exercise. |
