The Wind Tower flashes red, and slowly the intense heat from the previous season begins to abate. Fall is a time for transitions. The threat of Winter is growing to be a distant memory, but the men and women of the city still haven't forgotten the fearsome winters that once required seasons worth of preparation. Even without worrying over Winter it is still unknown what side effects the city will face in the event of yet another Winter's absence. Therefore, as Fall moves forward, the people of the city set to their work. The Inarta are nothing if not resilient, and their confidence is infectious even in the midst of uncertainty. This lends to a cheerful and festive atmosphere, as worries about the trials of the Beast the past season gradually become no more than memory.
Weather and Wildlife
Normally at this time of year, birds would begin their yearly migrations towards the warmer lands to the south. However, this year they linger. The normally empty lakes are filled with geese, and the migratory Hawks begin picking territorial disputes in the overfull trees where they normally nest. The animals around Wind Reach also begin showing signs of aggressive behavior, typical for the rutting season among ungulates but this year found in both males and females. Hunting for deer and elk this season is a perilous affair, and the animals will even attack Wind Eagles without hesitation. The Infirmary is full of animal injuries this season.
The fires from the previous season can be tended to easily now that concern for the Beast had ended, and by the middle of the season the Endals have all but quenched them. This is helped with the frequent storms rolling off the coast of Thunder Bay, soaking the dry lands in periodic rain and making it hard for fires to catch. The lands cool and most of the season is a pleasant temperature.
1st- 32nd - Periodic fires are still breaking out during this time, but the Endals are able to focus on quenching the fires. Almost immediately at season change it begins raining daily. The rain becomes heavier and has a longer duration the further into the season. It's around this time that the hunters begin to notice that the birds aren't migrating as they usually do. The temperature starts out warm but gradually cools.
33rd- 67th - The air cools and the temperature is very pleasant. There are storms here and there, but nothing major or particularly dangerous. By now, all of the wildfires are gone and the Endals can focus on increasing the food stores before the uncertainty of Winter arrives. It's during this time that the hunters notice the increased aggressiveness of the animals.
67th-91st -
Storms become more prevalent, and heavy winds are an everyday occurance. The more experienced and stronger fliers out of the Wind Eagles are expected to hunt and fish further from the city, while younger and less experienced ones range nearer to their nests or focus on watch duty. The temperature drops dramatically towards the end of the season, but never grows cold enough for snow. As expected, there is no snowfall at the expected time of year, and the Inarta stoically prepare for yet another season without Winter.
