This luxury jewelry shop is located in one of the coveted wall spaces tucked into the emptiness between the expansive Riads at the far southern side of The Outpost. The shop's stained glass crowned doubled doors open onto The Open Sky Bazaar in its more affluent section. It houses a small entry of tile that leads into a plush seating area (with refreshments) that is surrounded on all sides by display cases. Interspersed with the wood and glass display cases are gilded and jeweled statues that lend the area a luxurious museum-like feel. There is an expansive bathing chamber that sees to the jewelers, clerks and security guards' needs.
A large workshop fills the back of the shop that holds an office off to one side. The owner can work in the workshop - its fully functional - though she mostly chooses to work mainly from her distant home. There are windows facing the bazaar which house large potted plants that are climbing the walls and fragrancing the shop with exotic jasmine. At all times, there are two clerks and two guards working. The four men switch jobs interchangeably to keep them interested. They work as a unit, and to those knowledgeable in Kelvics can almost immediately tell the men are Kelvics and act as a pack.
This retail location is a satellite shop opened from its Master Jeweler's main workshop located in The Empyreal Demesne called Painted Sky Jewelry. The shop has a small back breezeway - lined with herb beds- that leads to the main courtyard of an expansive Riad. The Riad is the home of the jeweler while she is at The Outpost.
This shop also acts as a front for a mage guild known as The Meraki. The Meraki is a lot of things, but above all they are professionals. Their leader is a Master Jeweler - a Kelvic named Kelski. Kelski moved her jewelry shop - the infamous Midnight Gem - from Sunberth in the Summer of 519 in order to escape the violence of the city and the persecution of mages. Taking with her a rag-tag group of magic users of like mind, the group settled this pristine beach on Matthew's Bay southeast of Zeltiva and have scattered throughout twenty acres on its shores. Finding an ancient tower, they quickly made it home. Kelski has turned the top story into her own personal quarters and workshop.
Crossroads Jewelry gives Kelski an outlet to sell some of her more high-end pieces outside of their Wilderness Headquarters and grants her access to more raw materials and gemstones she can't seek out in and around The Syliran Wildlands.
The Sea Eagle earned her reputation in both Lhavit as an apprentice and in Sunberth where she achieved her Mastery and left the stifling confines of the city of Anarchy behind. Her new location, Painted Sky Jewelry, has no true showroom that people can wander around and pick out items. Instead, Kelski sees to the wants and needs of visitors personally, taking orders and making the items either the same day or very quickly thereafter while the travelers wait. The Sea Eagle also takes orders from the Svefra who bring her a great deal of business. She trades generic masterwork items with them for supplies which they can then in turn trade in larger cities for coin and resupply.
This is why Crossroads Jewelry is so important. This shop here in The Outpost gives Kelski an actual retail location where people can browse already worked pieces and buy immediately. Kelski is known for her custom very personalized work. She can encrust almost anything with gemstones, do small animal sculptures, and of course, knows a wide variety of techniques that can be useful in almost any jewelry situation.
The Meraki are welcoming of newcomers, especially mages, and Kelski herself has often expressed an interest in taking on apprentices. Rumor also has it that she has been experimenting with bridging the gap between magic and jewelcrafting, combining the two in her masterwork pieces.
