Both are a part of the pod that Selene was with when she travelled from Lhavit to Syka and they grew inseparable on the journey. Selene is pregnant and Pelly is a new mother, having given birth shortly into the trip. Pelly has doted over Selene, and Selene over Pelly bonding over their shared first pregnancies. Selene has found her presence comforting and has learned how to change a diaper and breast feed a child by watching Pelly.

I have a thread in progress where Selene will not be well received by some of the Sykans and will break down for fear that she won't be able to find someone to care for her own child when she gives birth next season (and when she thinks she will die giving birth to them). I would like for her to finally reveal to Pelly the truth, that she is likely to die giving birth, and the resulting pressure to bond with someone enough that they are willing to care for a baby Sym.

Pelly refuses to believe that the Sym will die, but for her friends sake she offers to stay and help Selene find an appropriate adoptive mother.

Appearance: She has wildly curly blonde hair and stands at almost 6 feet tall. She is broad shouldered and broad hipped she is rubenesque. Like all the Svefra she has the sea in her eyes, but so pale Selene often refers to them as wading shallows (an unkind reference to the woman's intellect).
Personality: A sunshine girl, Pelly never takes anything seriously. She respects others secrecy and actually prefers not to have to deal with the discomfort of others emotions or darkness. Her whole life centers around being a mother and with Crane, her first child, on her back she's well on her way to the large family she's always wanted.
History: Granddaughter to the Lia, Pelly has grown up in relative comfort (well...compared to other Svefra...life on the seas is still hard and she isn't afraid of a hard rough and tumble life). Pelly met Selene on the trip from Lhavit to Syka and befriended the young woman over their shared first pregnancies. She is the one who nicknamed Selene "Seal", which was adopted by the entire pod.

Personality: An "easy" child, Pelly is fortunate that Crane is easily quieted whenever stirred. However, if there's too much going on around him and he can't see - he'll start to fuss. He likes to be the center of attention.
History: Pelly's first child.

History: Rainmere was born among the Svefra but didn't stay there long. Born with an Ivak mark and soon garnering the attention of Akvin in her early youth, the girl began to wander the world learning new cultures. Rainmere is fearless, bold, and loves to dance. Since she dances, Rainmere has also learned to work on her own costumes. Thus she's turned out to be a decent seamstress as well. Rainmere will teach folks willingly and often dances just for the joy. Since coming to Syka, Rainmere is usually found at any beach side event Syka holds soliciting tips and dancing her heart out. Often she gets others to join in. Secretly she wants to start a Triad in Syka if she can get other Ivak followers to join her.

MAIN GOAL:

Selene dreams of a city that is Symenestra friendly outside the confines of Kalinor, where The Harvest is encouraged. She wants to found a group of Symenestran women that do not participate in The Harvest but instead reproduce with non-Sym, creating a colony of Dra that can reproduce with each other and create a group of Sym, as zealous about Viratas as those in Kalinor, but with the venom in their wombs quelled such they can reproduce safely with each other.

Selene is still passionate about kinship, community and the blood of the Symenestra but believes a colony of interbreeding Dra is the best way to preserve the Sym way of life before they breed themselves out of existence, unable to replace themselves as quickly as they die of old age or the dangers of The Harvest.

Plus, without The Harvest creating tension between the Sym and Non-Sym they will be able to fully engage with the world and return to Falyndar where they originated.

Steps to Accomplishing Goal:

1) Endear self to the people of Syka so that she can live safely until her child arrives.
2) Find someone to care for her child for after she believes she will die in childbirth.
3) Write a letter to her sister to be given to the Svefra next time they visit by the individual she entrusts with her child; letting her sister know it is safe to come and bring Symenestran women that are willing to live in Syka without The Harvest.

AFTER SHE SURVIVES THE BIRTH OF HER CHILD

4) Create a weaving company that can provide jobs to the Symenestra that her sister brings with her. A Sym Safe Space.
5) When her sister never arrives, Selene worries and waits - doesn't dare return to Kalinor.
6) Finds out that her sister, the other Sym women, and Pelly were killed by her childs father when they were attempting to flee (not sure how yet).
7) Vows to make fabrics so renowned as to attract Sym from all over Miz to come to Syka and live as she envisions.

Word Count: 394

A spider queen may make a dizzyingly beautiful web ensnaring all the flies, but she cannot control all they do. She sees herself as a heroine of the Symenestran people, but will she remain a spider - or end up a fly?

Personal Aspect of Main Goal:

A personal interest of hers, although she would never allow it to get in the way of her main goal and her obligation to her kin, is history and the development of civilization. In Syka, she wants to conduct interviews with the locals and founders to document the development of the settlement (something she wished had been done to preserve aspects of her own races culture). Furthermore, it allows the settlers (and PC's) to share in each others stories and feel like more of a community (given that they all come from different cultures and backgrounds) ~ A sense Selene craves to be amongst again.

This has the added benefit of giving her a reason to connect with the locals; after all, everyone likes to talk about themselves (ooc: This has the added benefit of putting her in connection with other PC's without having to do typical socialization/introduction threads (D&D dread) and can get at the core of who they are).

Functional Aspect of Main Goal:

1) Interview locals: (not in any particular order)
a) Tony (about the cotton; and an attempt to mend fences after the BBQ fight)
b) The healer (and start to make a friendship; she needs him for the birthing)
c) Ines (Caiyha marked) (and start to make a friendship; she'll need Ines to find moths for the business next season ~ Ask Ines about this)
d) Firedancer/Seamstress (Her boss)
e) Tazae: The New Inn being built (The beginning of established tourism)

2) Write the stories down.
3) Notice that ink from one page when wet makes a mark on the other page; inspired to make woodblock printing to make multiple copies of a story. Have wooden letters (in common) carved, acquire ink, create the first (and in Selene's perception; only) edition of "The Skya Social".
4) Begin with a, "Love Letter to Syka" written by Selene and then each of the stories. (find/make a newspaper formatted boxcode)
5) Create an open thread where Selene places the bundle under a rock in the main social area for anyone to read or interact with.
