Trip around Iceglaze

Avanthal, 8th day of Spring, 511

Darren after completing his time at in the Whitevine compound decided today would be a good day for a jog around the area.

It isn't snowing today and the sun seems to be shining pretty bright
he thought as he started at a brisk jaunt outside the Whitevine fort. He tried out some breathing techniques even though he was somewhat a novice when it came to running. Alright... let's start with the simple stuff first he thought, breathe in through the mouth exhale through the nose, he thought as he was heading towards iceglaze hold, Alright now let's try keeping tempo with my breathing and my steps.

One two three Breathe* one two three Breathe* one- cough* COUGH* COUGH* COUCH* eheh...oops. He stopped to catch his breath.

Sigh* Hmm what's this? he said as he looked at what looked to be a store. Wonder what else they can do he thought as he entered the shop.

Trip around

Postby Danyella on March 4th, 2011, 1:04 am

As the man entered the shop all that could be seen was the back of a very large and muscular man, with his head peering through a curtain of furs into a back room. An angry high pitched female voice filled the air, "Stop looking over my shoulder you big oaf!!!"

The large man was seen ducking quickly, and a heavy smithing hammer flew through the space his head had been, flying over the counter and past the ear of the newcomer. The mountain of a man turned and his face showed no surprise at seeing the potential customer. In a deep booming voice, "My apologies for my daughter, she goes into creative frenzies. How may I help y--- Uffh!" he said as he bent over in pain. His hand was rubbing the back of his head, as a young girl in half shirt and leather breeches and leather gloves walked out. Her face was caked with sweat and grime, her hands clenching a thick set of iron tongs. She wiped the sweat off her forehead with the back of her gloved hand, her eyes a raging set of rubies.

"That will teach ya about telling customers about my private life." she said with a slightly satisfied tone. She strode around the counter, and passed the newcomer by shoving him with her shoulder, picked up her hammer and walked out into the biting cold.

The large man looked sheepish and said, "Thats my firecracker of a daughter Danyella, now did you need something?"

Trip around Icehold

Darren stood in complete shock for a bit as the hammer flew past him. It took awhile for him to address the man in the back room.

Uh yes! I- he said trying to address the man but then his train of thought was interrupted again, as he watched the woman assault the man. He involuntarily cringed at the sight of the hit and moved to avoid the woman as she walked past him. And...a shoulder bump to top it off he thought as he watched her head outside.

Behind him he heard the man talk to him again, "That's my firecracker of a daughter Danyella, now did you need something?" At this Darren smiled and nodded. This man must really care for her daughter for her to be so free willed he thought as he tried to keep up with the situation. Yes! Hello, my name is Darren WhiteVine. I was just in the area when I came across your shop here. I've been wanting some throwing equipment as of late and was wondering if you can make me some he said producing the currency required. Iron or Steel, whichever one is easier to train with.

He then looked around the shop some more. It seemed up to his standards and the man seemed nice enough that he would be able to get a decent deal off of him he thought.

He thought a bit before continuing. Actually I got all day and tomorrow for these he said before he looked outside. It was getting dark already and a run back to the WhiteVine Hold might be hazardous to his health. Heh, also do you know where I can find a place to stay for the night? he asked with a modest face. He had so much more things he wanted to talk about but he would have to wait for a bit...

"Well I have currently in stock iron throwing knives, ball bearings, and needles. If you want bigger I have javelins, and throwing picks and axes. However, I doubt they would fit well into your hands, if you want custom made ones, she is the one to talk to," he said as he nodded toward the door.

Danyella enjoyed the piercing cold after working in the furnace for hours. She was getting a couple of strange looks since the sweat was steaming off her half dressed body. She smiled at being slightly different than everyone, normal was boring after all. She turned and looked at the shop and thought about how she would eventually have her own so her dad could retire. She sighed and fell backwards into the icy bed of snow, enjoying the pierce of the imaginary needles of cold.

"One day Dah, one day."

Trip around Iceglaze

Darren nodded with a short motion of the head before he let the man continue with his work. He made a quick tour around the shop playing around with the throwing knives before giving up. Hmm these are no good... they feel too light he thought aloud as he practiced a motion of throwing the knife. He didn't let go but he could already tell something is not right with it.

Hmm, I dunno it seems I should look into those custom made ones he thought as he turned to see Danyella. It took awhile for her to come into view but when he saw someone lying in the snow with a cloud of steam emanating from her it would be hard to not think it was her. Hmm how odd he thought as he took a final look at the man in the back before he exited to meet her.

He took a knee besides her. Hello there. I've believed we have already met he said with a grin pointing back at the store. I already know your name, allow me to introduce myself. Darren of WhiteVine Hold he said as he was starting up. He then extended his hand if she wanted help getting up. I heard from your father that you are the creative little one to do custom work with he ended with a curious face.

Trip around Iceglaze

Danyella's peaceful harmony in the snow was interrupted by that customer she bumped into earlier. She mostly ignored him until she he heard
the word little. Her eyes flared red in annoyance, but settled to an angry pink. She decided to truly test this man and get paid while doing it.

She stood up and glared daggers straight into his eyes. "Follow me."
She began stomping back toward the shop, "What sort of weapons are you wanting?" She walked into the shop slamming the door in his face, "Are you coming or not?!" she barked "We have too many measurements to take."

She walked into the back passing her father while letting out an audible sigh.  He chuckled much to her annoyance. She began gathering the tools she needed as well as various throwing implements and bundled them all together. She quickly set the bellows to work getting the oven ready then walked out to the counter to wait on her customer.

Trip around Iceglaze

Erm...what is with her now? Darren thought as he opened the shop door for the second time.

I'm looking for some throwing knifes
he said as he moved to the counter. He looked outside, the day has already ended and it was already pitch black. But you don't have to exert yourself he said trying to keep her health in mind, I'm up for doing hard work and all but we can probably finish it this tomorrow he said shivering a bit as he touched the nearby window.

He looked at the angry little girls face straight on for once.

...he couldn't keep his gaze.

Her face looked too adorable when her face was all balled up in anger towards him. There was no way I could take her too seriously he thought as he managed to pass of a laugh as a cough before he continued, so care to tell me a bit about yourself before we get started?

As the man came into the shop, he stared into her eyes, and she met his gaze only to see that he still wasn't taking her seriously. Her eyes changed to a rebellious redorange. She grabbed three styles of throwing knives, and quickly threw all three at his hand by the window. All three imbedded in the wall missing him. She shrugged knowing she didn't have throwing skills, and chalked it up to him being very lucky.

"All you need to know about me is that I'm making your gear, and doing it fast and properly. Grab those knives and come outside. The aurora is out thick tonight so there will be plenty of light."

Danyella briskly walked outside and watched as blues, greens, and even warmer colors were dancing in the sky.  She walked behind the shack to the training yard for customers to try out new gear. She set up some wooden block targets. She smiled remembering the times her Dah brought her out here to train with hammer and dagger. She pulled the dagger from her belt and through it a target block. It bounced off as the hilt made contact and she sighed. She then quickly drew and threw her hammer, and with a loud thud put a massive dent in the block. She smiled and picked up her tools.
"I'm out back, hurry it up!!"

Darren turned to take the knives out of the wall. He sighed as he figured that he might have aggravated the Danyella. Alright, alright hold your horses he muttered as he started to the door.

He watched as he she sett up the wooden dummies. She really is a one of a kind sort of girl isn't she? he commented to her father before he opened the door and headed outside.

He was approaching as she tested the dummies. I'm here, I'm here... he said shyly they stood in silence for a bit before he decided to try and break the tension that formed between them.

I was watching you when you were practicing with those dolls, you seem rather able when it comes to the practical arts. Wanna to set up some spars later on? he asked as he dangled a throwing knife in front of him. I'm still a novice I admitt, but we can still probably learn from experience with each other.

Trip around Iceglaze

Postby Danyella on March 4th, 2011, 6:10 pm

Danyella wondered why this man was going to such lengths to get on her good side. "I need to watch how you handle these blades, see which one is more comfortable to you, so get to practicing with them, we don't have all night."

She wondered which he would pick, the first was a standard symmetric double edged blade, with a thin handle ending in a finger hole for more dextrous users, that allowed for it to be spun, and acted as a balance counterweight.
The second was a larger single edge blade, with the opposing edge being serrated, ending in a heavy, thick gripped hilt. This blade had a large range of utility, but it's main purpose was to punch through thin armor and of course bone. The final blade was a stilleto blade, balanced perfectly in the hilt. This was designed for spot on accurate throwing, and for hitting smaller targets. It's also the best choice for close range melée combat due to it's blade catching hilt guards.

She stood there arms crossed and studies the man carefully, her eyes turning a studious emerald.
