Theme Song Race: Mixed Blood [Chaktawe-Drykas] Birthday: 483AV [27 years old]
Hex is small at 5'4 ft and weighs 125lb. She is athletic and has more endurance and speed than raw strength. Being half Chaktawe she does not carry all of the same genetic traits of her desert dwelling ancestors. For instance she has the long black glossy hair of the Chaktawe but the light eyes and skin of a Drykas - a shocking difference from the jet black of her people's hair and eyes. Her paler skin tone sets her apart visually from those with the typical copper brown of her desert race, but next to any Drykas she looks significantly darker in comparison. The webbing between her toes did not develop, nor did her second eye lids but she was fortunate to gain the motion-sensitive finger tips and the water retention organ.
When surviving alone in Cyphrus, she at times would camouflage herself in the grasses with the use of a painted on streak across her eyes made from ground up leaves, berries, mud, or minerals. Her armour consists of a sturdy bone breast armour coupled with a red skirt and leather belt. Having lost her leather boots in a recent shipwreck, Hex wears nothing on her feet but this is nothing new for her. The pads of her feet are calloused and resistant against rocks and sharp objects. Her otherwise bare skin is highly resistant to the conditions of nature and she uses her Healing Gnosis to heal any rashes, burns, or scrapes.
Hex has a complex mix of dark seriousness, confidence, reserved silence and sensuality. As a teenager she was rebellious and gutsy despite being a mixed blood in the middle of a pure Chaktawe village. Because of how different she is from her upbringing, Hex has had to create her own culture as a means of securing her values and principles.
Hex's defining personality characteristics are cautiousness, curiosity, assertiveness, and impulsiveness. As a born healer she is also empathetic, relaxed, sensual, and spiritual.
Hex communicates primarily with feeling and body language rather than spoken word. She became introduced to the magic of Auristics, and took the practice on with elated relief. The magic helped her see to the truth of all life and examine its details. With a nature in exploration and discovery, she found this incredibly useful to understanding both the land she lived off of and the individuals of her tribe. Besides speaking, Hex uses drawings to communicate, a tradition from her Chaktawe upbringing.
Hex is commonly seen in a perpetual state of wonder and curiosity - a result of dipping her senses into the pond of auristic power. Every new experience is like the rapid blossoming of a flower, and she often finds herself guided by her instincts to safety. Intense matters of the heart and soul naturally draw her to conflict, along with ghosts and wizards thirsty for the bursts of energy that humans emit with their auras and emotions.
Her affinity to the spiritual realm helps her notice ghosts and energies that can often be difficult to see with the untrained naked eye. Hex understands much of how the world works through recognizing and following metaphors in omens and warnings; they often are how she gains perspective on mysterious situations, at times foreshadowing details about future events or revealing the true nature of deceptive elements. The danger in this ability is that sometimes signs can be misinterpreted. She must be careful to objectively receive signs and not follow them blindly.
Her medicine abilities include an advanced knowledge of combining herbs and foods for medicinal purposes, as well as techniques for reducing stress in the injured through touch and compassion. She has a strong affinity with animals and is able to communicate and establish trust with them.
She has had some training in unarmed combat and can defend herself amongst most attackers, but is highly reliant on being more resourceful and evasive in her movements rather than confrontational. She carries a small hunting knife that she uses to kill and skin the beasts she hunts, although sometimes she uses it to fight with - especially throwing it. If caught however she is susceptible to major injuries as she is small and not heavily armoured.
When travelling back to his tribe with his Drykas lover and their baby (unnamed at the time), Ach'tuk and his family were attacked by predatory animals. Her mother was killed in the assault while attempting to protect their child. Her father Ach'tuk was badly injured but fled to his tribe's region regardless. He travelled a long way south through Ekytol, both heartbroken but hopeful. Upon arrival Ach'tuk collapsed at the Kalanue encampment, later becoming bedridden for two seasons. He was the nephew of the tribe leader there and begged his relative to take his baby and teach her to look after herself. Ach'tuk himself had grown up amongst the Suli tribe; who are the soldiers and negotiators of the Chaktawe. He did not take her to his native tribe because he wanted her to experience early life without war. He thought if he put her in an atmosphere of survival, she just might live long and free. The tribal leader refused because of her mixed blood but after many nights of convincing, he expended his last ounce of energy by successfully ensuring the future safety of his daughter.
When growing up in the Kalanue tribe, it was important that she learn the basics of wilderness survival and hunting by being introduced to the elements around her; where to find food and water, when to travel, and how to hunt down an animal with limited stress to the flesh.
The history of her mother is unknown as the new tribe knew little to nothing about her or the drykas horseclan she was from. The child was given the name Ta'ku but at the age of 20, Taku renamed herself Hex, when in her travels she began her study of medicine and auristics. To her, there was more to life than what was within the Redstone mountains. She was undeniably curious about her Drykas blood and yearned for adventures beyond her desert life.
She travelled north through Ekytol and some of her time was spent amongst a Benshira trade clan in Yahaba. There she met an Aurist who taught her to read and focus on one aura at a time, how to recognize different aura wave lengths, and the detection and perception of colours associated with emotional auras. Hex worked up to an auristic level of novice during her training in Yahebah and was most interested in how to communicate her emotional states to others by projecting them through voice, movement, and meditation. She continues to develop her knowledge with the scrolls and books she carries with her supplies. She also learned to speak Common and a little Pavi as she exposed herself to knowledgeable people during her time in Yahebah. After 28 seasons of exploring northern Ekytol she finally entered Cyphrus in search of the giant moving encampment of Endrykas. There she was sure answers would be found about the history of her origins.
