Meeting new people

Rovan connected his fingertips infront of him in a proposing manner.

"If, I may suggest, I would recommend the Rearing Stallion as a reasonable place to discuss matters such as these further. I have found it to be a relatively good tavern with reliable service -- and without too many prying eyes or ears." He said delicately, eyeing each individual in the group. He might not get a chance like this again for a very long time, so now was the moment to engage the group and help directing it. Perhaps none of these were the ideal hero, but in Rovan's experiance everything could be learned with time. In time, these might grow from green recruits to become experianced adventureres altogether.

He felt the tingle of anxiousness as he awaited the reaction of these people - especially of the alpha male, who undeniably had a strong presence as well as physique. But as he regarded the shared eagerness of the young men and the girl, he felt a bit more assured. These were not likely people to say no to given oppertunities.

The slighty taken-aback and scholarly looking sort seemed excessively aware of the present, and had obviously been able to take quick advantage of this situation to unite a band, for whatever reasons he might have. Rovan found to have most in common with this individual so far, from this first-hand impression.

"Mm-I can show you the way there, if you will follow," Rovan added to the whole gathering, making a light twirl of his loose-wristed hand in a persuasive gesture.

Meeting new people

Postby Winter on March 23rd, 2011, 12:36 am

Eventually, Winter had to break his own ice and greet one of his new partners. His hand goes forward meeting Syrus one, giving a solid handshake. He smiles to the man, slightly with an challenging look on his face : “We’ll call it a truce.” – he jokes, warming his smile a bit more. His left hand meets Malemar’s shoulder, and he grips it softly, feeling some of his muscle. He’s pleased once more; seems like Malemar will be handy after all, somewhat vital to the newly formed group. “The name’s Winter, in case you missed.” – he reconfirms his name to the new joined members of the conversation.

Winter is surprised by Aestrea’s courage. She has proven to be quite a brave girl by imposing herself against Winter and now joining an unknown adventure to all? Damn, this girl might have quite a warrior spirit inside her; Winter thinks. The group is rather big, as so, he decides to question if Aestrea had somewhere to sleep, after all, Winter could sleep anywhere, but the rest of the group are not so likely to oblige. “If you are taggin’ along lady, I hope you have something that will keep you warm by the night…” – somewhat corcened with her well being.

Now he returns his attention to Maegon, nodding and giving him total confirmation of his addition to the group. His sight quickly changes to Rovan as this one seems to be acquainted with Maegon. He had after all to oblige if they were going to depart in such a search for adventure… or even so… in search for knowledge… strenght? Riches? Anything could happen, as long these two, Maegon and Rovan, straightened their ideas. Winter enjoyed being part of the group, oh yes he did, but not as the brain, he felt his job was better doing what he was pointed to. His Kelvic intellect didn’t leave him much of a choice; for the ones that battle in the frontlines have different views from the ones that issue orders behind armies, Winter had became used to hunting in these long years. Even so, it was the first time Winter had definitely cooperated fully with a group, it was nonetheless, a brand new experience to our Kelvic friend.
He nods at the group, stepping forth. “Point the way…”

"We have doomed the Wolf not for what it is, but for what we have deliberately and mistakenly perceived it to be..the mythologized epitome of a savage, ruthless killer..which is, in reality no more than a reflexed images of ourself"

As for joining the group, Winter’s respect for its members has grown. He’s still unaware of Rovan’s personality and interests but we’ll certainly point that later. Malemar’s and Winter truce will certainly bring a lot of challenges and entertaining moments to the group. Fear not for now, because he shall follow the path you four walk.

Meeting new people

Postby Astrea Rose Griffin on March 23rd, 2011, 1:31 am

Astrea listened as the man requested for them to go to a tavern not far from here. She diligently followed walking behind the group of males. She stayed quiet for most of time probably because she felt like an outcast among them. One, she was 17 years old the youngest of this group and two, she was the only female. She wondered how this so called adventure would be like and if she could withstand the difficulties of this journey, but she was always up for a challenge in anything and she was in desperate need to travel the world and see new places.

“Um, I have a four person tent.” She said to Winter as he mentioned to her that she would need to find somewhere to sleep, but she didn’t see any problem in that. “I also have a riding horse that I could take along with us and a bow and arrows.” Astrea had received very little instruction on archery, any skill she had of it was obtained by either reading a book or learning how to by herself. She recalled the long summer afternoons when she would sneak out of the Orphanage and find a tree in an isolated field to practice with her weapon which she obtained the night her mother had given her away to the orphanage. She hopped that her little skill in archery would benefit their group, but if that wouldn’t suffice then she would be happy to cook their meals for them even though she never really enjoyed cooking in her earlier years partially because she was always forced to cook. "I am not too great at archery, but I could learn and I could always cook...well I'm not great at that either, but it is better then nothing." She spoke with a slight uncertainty as she realized how useless she actually was. Maybe if her care takers had actually let her go to school and learn a few things then she would have been of greater help to them.

Meeting new people

Postby Rovan Dermane on March 23rd, 2011, 5:12 pm

Rovan gained an impish smile of satisfaction as he turned, leading the people towards the tavern in question. He swiped his cloak aside gently to keep it from being infront of him as a hinderance, walking quietly with the sleeves of his robe connected infront of him.

The faint and dreadful thought of loosing his way within the city spooked in the back of his head. But he pushed it back, taking assurance in the various shops, buildings or twists of the street he recognised. He peered back over his shouder sometimes to see if they were still following, as the mass of people in the streets could easily conceal one man. He wondered and calculated on the various possibilities of an outcome of this situation, but could not concentrate proberly as he felt their eyes on his back. As much as it unnerved him that he could not figure out the results of his actions, it also gave him a new sense of excitement. The thrill of challenge bubbled in his chest.

Meeting new people

Postby Maegon on March 23rd, 2011, 7:24 pm

This can't be happening, thinks Maegon, trying to conceal his excitement and failing miserably. After almost starting to lose hope, he suddenly finds a group of people, and capable-looking people at that, to help him in his objectives. Malemar looks confident with his athletic arms folded and sword hanging from his waist; Astrea, if a bit naively, shows herself eager to follow; Winter's change of tone suggests a willingness to cooperate, although his imposing figure still has Maegon on his guard; and the newcomer, with his slightly devilish smirk, joins the tips of his fingers, like a storybook villain would after the first step of his master plan is complete.

As Rovan leads the way, stepping carefully on the pavement, as if it was booby-trapped, Maegon follows with the others. The Rearing Stallion shared the same traits as any other tavern: it served ale, it was stinky, and it was too crowded and noisy for a delicate topic to be overheard discreetly. The constrast between Malemar and Winter's bulky features, Astrea's blond-haired grace, Rovan's scholarly looks and Maegon's farmer-boy appearance was bound to turn some heads, but Winter's scouting eyes and Malemar's hanging sword would most surely turn them away again.

Meeting new people

Postby Malemar on March 23rd, 2011, 11:51 pm

As the group set off in the direction of The Rearing Stallion, Malemar followed, excitedly but still ever wary as usual. The death of his father had turned him into quite a cautious, untrusting man, although he was fairly sure that he could trust his new companions - he will not call them friends, yet - were not leading him into a trap. At least one of their own making and planning. As he walked along, he made sure that his sword was on show, discouraging prying eyes and potential thieves, hopefully.

Whilst the group walked along purposefully, he took a moment again to glance at Astrea and the others. Astrea mainly however. All of them seemed excited and eager in some way, even the hardened Kelvic, Winter, in a fashion. He told himself that this was a new beginning, a new life now and this was to be the first exciting chapter upon his new path. He smiled to himself idly, whilst still walking along with the others, pleased by his thoughts.

Meeting new people

Postby Astrea Rose Griffin on March 24th, 2011, 12:23 am

As they walked into the crowded tavern she smelled the burning scent of alcohol and smoke fill her lungs. She coughed a little not accustom to the smoggy scents of the tavern after being out in the open and fresh air of the city. She followed the men a little nervously since this setting was far too strange for her. Never had she been in a tavern and everything about it intimidated her and only made her feel smaller.

As she walked through many people turned to stare at her since it was hard to not spot her from her golden hair. She nervously averted her eyes not wanting to see these strangers and quickly took a seat with the rest of the group. She kept her eyes down not wanting to see any more taunting stares, even though she could already feel them burrowing deep into her back. Most stares came for drunken men at a nearby table with a lazy drunk smile spread across their face as they analyzed the young and nervous blonde. Astrea hopped this meeting would go by quickly since she felt more insecure every single minute and it showed in her eyes how uncomfortable she was.

Meeting new people

Postby Rovan Dermane on March 24th, 2011, 1:01 am

Entering the familiar sounds and sights of the tavern, Rovan took in an inhale and let out a sigh of recognition. He felt more at ease now that he sucessfully lead the group to their first destination, and with renewed self-assurance, he turned towards the group.

"Here we are, then. Let us be seated over here," he said, gesturing towards a nearby table by the wall. It was a little distanced to the rest of the guests in the tavern, which suited him perfectly.
His old tutor at the Zeltivan university had once told him: One must know the rules, to learn how best to beat them. Rovan felt he had an understanding of the unwritten laws in this tavern by now. Aslong as they were as large a group as this, they could be allowed to exclude themselves from the life at the bar without the risk of interruption.

Rovan headed to the table and took out a stool, waiting for the others to come before sitting himself. Prober manners could never hurt.
He felt light bemuse as he watched Anstrea walk through the tavern with all the uncertainty and wariness of a child. Not surprisingly though, she being the only woman in a tavern full of haggered and weather-worn men who ate her with their eyes. It heartened him to see someone feel even more out of place in this enviroment than himself.

He glanced over his fingernails distractedly. His nails were starting to get too long. He would need to file them soon, which could often take hours to be done proberly. As he looked closer, the nail on his index finger was longer than on his middle finger - and it had faint black dirt beneath it. The vain scholar snapped out of it, returning his focus to the group and taking his seat as they joined him.

Meeting new people

Postby Malemar on March 24th, 2011, 9:06 am

You would have thought that Malemar would have been right at home in the tavern, having worked in one for a number of years in his home village. In a way, he was. The smells of sweat, alcohol and pipe smoke were the same at least. Although the atmosphere here was different. It seemed more an atmosphere of hostility than the warming, friendly atmosphere he had become accustomed to back in the inn of his home village.

Following Rovans lead, he took a seat at the same table as he, choosing one of the chairs with its back against the wall so he could observe the common room and the people now occupying it. After a moment, he turned to engage Rovan in conversation. "So, will we finally know what this trip is about and what we are to expect?"

Meeting new people

Postby Winter on March 24th, 2011, 3:14 pm

Winter follows Rovan’s guided path, his eyes and ears with an everlasting attention and alert to its surroundings as he walk amongst the group trough the city. They finally reached the so wanted tavern, The Rearing Stallion; curious name in fact. Winter steps inside the tavern and gazes a so typical mood: the drunken, poor and unfortunate all in the same place… There could be more business like this going around this bar, but once again, with the noise and incoming voices from all directions, it was impossible to distinguish what is what. Easy enough for the drunken men to guide their eyes to Astrea, Winter made sure they wouldn’t do the same once again. His eyes clashed with the other drunkards, one by one, settling a battle in a millisecond. Winter’s scarred face and imposing traits made sure there would be no one eyeing them when they finally take their seat. The men look back to their mugs as Winter’s sight penetrates theirs, attempting to leave a scar in the men pride. “Warm enough…” – he muttered to himself.

As Rovan and Malemar took their seat, Winter did the same, choosing carefully his stool. He grabbed both his and a additional stool with each of his hands, laying them in the table perimeter. He raises his hand and points his index finger to Astrea and then pats twice the stool in his right offering her a small aegis of protection from the drunkards and perverts sight the tavern had to offer; alongside a smile in his face, with no other intentions than a devoted care. If Astrea’s accepts it, he’d have her by his right, Malemar facing the tavern crowd by his left and in Astrea’s right, a free stool; perhaps this one, bind to Maegon.

Winter had forgot his satchel with goods and mizas in the lodge he had rented for the week, not far from there as well. He remembers it… “Tsk…” he grunts. He reaches for his pocket and his bird call is still there. He eyes down his pants to check if the item is still in good condition, and so it seems to be. The tavern was warm compared to the rest of the city, in the first rainy weeks of Spring, still, most of the men inside were using coats and drinking strong gulps of ale in order to keep them warm. Winter seemed rather undisturbed by the cold, his wolf traits kept him warm for the time being and so emanated from his body, a rather welcoming weather shelter.

He redirects his gaze back to the group and the conversation they’d soon engage. As Malemar asks Rovan about information, Winter decides to intervene. “Wasn’t him -he eyes Maegon- doing all the talking? Or you – he gazes Rovan – and Maegon already know each other?” – he asks inquisitively. He eyes Astrea, checking for her safety and then back to the men, waiting for an aswer. Both of his elbows land on the table as he look to the men. Forming a triangle with his hand, he rests his head with it. His fingers around his mouth in the triangle shaped form and his thumbs underneath his chin; he scratches his nose with the friction of his index fingers in his skin. He would lay back once again if he's asnwered or ignored. His sharp features recommend not choosing the last one...
